I get a black screen on start up that takes awhile to lead but is usually fixed when I restart my computer but even then after playing for around 45 minutes it freezes and I have to wait around 2 minutes for it to unfreeze

the hades.exe has stopped working screen pops up during it but if I wait it eventually comes back

what you're going to want to do is open up the game on Epic, then change the files (rename all of them from profile1 to profile2), then close the game. That should make it so the files stay renamed

otherwise the cloud saving causes some shenanigans

Hello everyone! Yesterday I bought Hades on Epic Games Store, but I noticed that it is in the e-Shop too! I personally prefer to play it on switch, so I was going to refund the game and buy it there. However, today I have discovered there is this crossave between the Switch version and PC version, and I was asking myself if it was necessary to buy it twice (one on each platform) or instead I could get the Switch version free as I bought it for PC. I have no problems on refunding and buying it again, even though it is a bit more expensive, but I would like to know if I am able to get the game on both platforms at this point without paying it twice.

Unfortunately, Hades does not have any cross-buy, so to play on both systems you need to purchase it on both systems

Hi I just had my game crash and I lost all the progress from my run. It reverted to the save I had last night. I tried the steps from the FAQ with renaming the .sav files. All of them revert back to the save from yesterday

Hi, I've tried searching and nothing really comes up - the issue I'm having is that on a mac (m1 to make it more complicated) connected to a 4k monitor, there is no 4k resolution display option - I thought it was a scaling issue and so I got rid of scaling, should just be pure 4k resolution now but the resolution options max out at 3008x1692. I wanted to at least test performance running at 4k before I gave up and used a reduced resolution . . .

I'm just curious if people reported frame drops in Elysium area, I've been to the first 3 zones of the game so far up to that point, everything is perfect 60fps, but the third zone(Elysium) is constant 30 when I'm engaged in combat. Anyone having the same problem maybe? My laptop is not that strong, so maybe it's on my side but I just wanted to ask if anybody else has this inconvenience.

Elysium does tend to have more stuff going on--there are some things you can try in #h1-tech-fixes to reduce performance issues. I'd start with the launch option /UseSwapEffectDiscard=true

I'm having some crazy trouble with mouse and joystick sensitivity in hades, how do I tune that? I can't find any settings for it in the game. I've been playing since EA, took a break right before release and just started it back up. Now my mouse / joystick just zoom everywhere, no other games I have are acting up. iMac OS Catalina, Steam, via big Picture, using a Sony DS4 - cant get analogue movement working at all, ive tried the USEGAINPUT etc... additions to properties, that gets the controller working but jsut the dpad and other buttons - no analogue style of input at all.

i can set steam to mimic the 8 way direction on the left analogue in Hades, but not actual analogue input

Hi there, i come to ask about the steam achievement not syncing, i red above that some of them needs to be done multiple times to be triggered, but there is some narrative achievement done in game that are not unlocked on steam, as well as some no narrative one, that even if done multiple time dont want to get unlocked. the two i have rn are "Weapon of Fate - Clear an escape attempt with a hidden Weapon Aspect" and "Divided by Death - Fulfill the 'Divided by Death' Prophecy". I have 3 runs escaped with hidden aspects, and in game the boys profecy is fullfilled, and even after changing rooms / re-clearing some runs / syncing steam files, it doesnt trigger

Any idea how it would sync ?

Alright--just to make sure, you're trying to take saves from Epic and transfer them to your Switch, correct?

If so, you can try moving your PC save to another save slot (files are in Documents / Saved Games / Hades--while the game is open, rename at least Profile1.sav, Profile1_temp.sav, and Profile1.v.sav to Profile2, then close the game), then try linking again

Alternate solution: If you don't care about your Switch save data, you can also try clearing it from the Switch, so that it should then pull from the cloud

I’m playing on OSX via epic games with a ps4 dual shock connected via Bluetooth and if I’m in full screen and change to another application window (eg. safari) and come back, more often than not Zag’s movement gets pinned to the left. Unfortunately just happened on a run after defeating the hydra but before picking up the reward. To resolve it I tried to turn off Bluetooth and turn it on again in OS X, and when doing so and reconnecting the controller the game crashes. Happy to provide whatever other info required

Default freezes the game and I have to force quit Hades and restart my PC because it doesn't stop on steam
Vulkan does the same except I quit and the game screen goes black but I still have to restart my PC

Hello, I found a bug when combining two Duo Boons: Curse of Longing (Aphrodite / Ares) and Merciful End (Ares / Athena). With this combination after the Deflect effect, the Doom effect disappears from the enemy, and the "continuously strike Weak foes" effect does not occur.

Hello! That's not so much a bug as an unfortunate interaction. Curse of Longing only deals damage while they are affected by Doom, and Merciful End removes the Doom effect

Hey there, so i just bought hades on steam and found out my game wouldn't save at all, I've tried all the steps that I could find to potentially fix it (i.e allowed folder access in firewall, made the saved games folder NOT read only) the fix that seems to work is running the exe from the folder as admin but when this is done it doesn't track any of my gametime or achievements on steam, is there anything more I can do? I'm afraid i may have to refund it and don't want to as i really like what i've played so far but this has been a headahe :(

hello! hoping for a little help please. originally started playing Hades on my laptop. eventually got it on Switch where I've put more hours into now. with cross save now up and running I wanted to test it out by playing my Switch save on my laptop. I went into Documents/Saved Games/Hades and changed Profile1.sav and Profile1.v.sav to Profile2.sav & Profile2.v.sav (wasn't sure about the .v.sav's so I did them anyway. hoping that wasn't wrong). When I opened Hades on my laptop there were 2 save files and both were the dates from the last time I played on my laptop, neither from the Switch which I played last night. I then went to my Switch and it asked me to connect my Steam this time which I did. How would I go about correctly getting my Switch save to my laptop at this point? I'm thinking I messed something up 😦 I'm even fine with deleting my laptop save(s) at this point as I'm much further on the Switch version. Thanks!

Howdy. I'm enjoying the game very much. I do cross-play between PC and Switch. One thing that I struggle with is the (physical) swapping of the Confirm and Cancel buttons on PC vs Switch. I managed a workaround (using a Pro Controller connected to the PC with the "use Nintendo layout" option enabled in Steam) but it results in button labels not actually matching my controller. Much easier on the muscle memory than swapping cancel/confirm (unfun mistakes) but still not quite perfect. Is there a better way to fix this?

If anyone is having an issue where they can’t transfer their Epic game’s save to the switch, on your switch go to System Settings -> System -> Date and Time -> and the set Synchronize Clock via Internet to on. Is there a way to recover a cloud save? I've been playing on Steam and was on my 12th or 13th run. I wanted to play on my Switch, which had a different game (4th run). Small suggestion for the Tech Fixes channel's "Mouse and Controller Input Issues" section:

If the game is erroneously detecting an up/down/across input in the menus, move both analogue sticks in a 360 degree circle and see if that resolves the issue. The game may not have registered the analogue stick being returned to neutral position correctly and this should resolve it. (Windows platform)

Also, the Vulkan version seems to render at least the title screen at a much lower FPS than the DirectX version of the game. Nvidia 1070Ti (456.71 driver), Windows 10 20H2. In-game it seemed like FPS was a little off but it was definitely at a playable FPS.

Alright, makes sense. Could you try verifying file integrity? I haven't encountered this error before, so I'm not totally sure what to do for it (doesn't mean we can't figure it out though!)

hi, sorry to interrupt. If i may ask, is there a way to force the 32-bit version of the game by default? I have more stable performance that way for some reason.
But when i launch the game from the steam desktop shortcut, it launches the 64-bit version. Maybe a launch parameter? Thanks in advance

There is not a way that I know of while launching through Steam, but you can create a desktop shortcut for the 32-bit version

Hi I've been having massive crashing issues with the game for the past several days. I've tried just about everything from the tech support FAQ, launching it from vulkan, changing ti from fullscreen, I've verified my files at least 6 times now, I've reinstalled the game but it keps crashing randomly.

Soemtimes it's within the 1st 5 minutes, it happens everytime I finish a run and finish talking to persephone, other times it is just fine, it is completely random but it happens every time I play within an hour

Could I have some help trying to fix issue issues please?

Hello--what kind of crash is it? Freeze, not responding, crash to desktop, etc.?

It's a freeze. It usually happens when I enter a new chamber

I usually wait a minute to see if it responds and then alt tab to close the game through task manager and it usually says "Hades not responding"

Hi, I accidentally deleted a save file and was told to go to steam cloud to recover the data. But, I do not know where to find the files back so I can restore the game file back.

You want to copy them into Documents / Saved Games / Hades

As a note--if you just delete a save in-game, it is not actually deleted unless you started a new game in the same slot

Alright--two things. Have you checked if your computer meets the specs for Hades? And there are a few other things listed in #h1-tech-fixes under If You're Having Issues Launching the Game, or See a Black Screen that may help

alright--start up the game, then rename Profile1 to Profile1_old, then rename Profile1.sav.bak to Profile1.sav. Once you've done that, open up the "Play" menu in-game and see if the save shown looks right

no worries! While the game is still open, go to that folder and delete the _temp.sav files for whichever save you're trying to recover (or both). Then, open and close the "Play" menu without restarting the game
