Yes, my drives are up to date. I do have multiple audio devices so I'll try that, and I realize I may be an idiot anyways. I've been messing with my ram for a different game and I always play Hades after I do that. Thank you for the help! I truly appreciate it.

had an interesting interaction, which seems to be a bug, since i could not figure out the source. When using the Dionysus Special with Demeter Aspect, the Hangover Damage was doubled when I used the Dash-Upper. After checking, this only happens after the Explosive Upper upgrade.
to summerize, a single stack of Hangover applied via Explosive Upper was doing the same damage as two stacks of Hangover applied via regular special.
I understand that Explosive Upper says "your dash upper deals +100% damage", but why would that apply to Hangover?

My game froze and CTDed today in Elysium, seemed to be triggered by me purchasing life essence at a well of charon. I sold a couple of boons at a pool of purging (in the same room) just before, if it makes any difference. I tried to report this via the f10 function in the game after booting back up, but it CTDed again.

Hello, my game crashed for the second time. It crashed while Dashing through projectiles in a room with multiple enemies again. I've lost the progress of the entire run, this time one going all the way to Hades. I was just wondering if you were aware of such a bug.
Another entirely unrelated bug, but when my computer turned off and reopened, the screen glitched like crazy. It seemed to glitch more whenever anything moved, but it was fine when everything was still. The game was still technically playable, but it was difficult and painful to do so, to say the least.

Hello. My game doesnt save my progress, like at all. is there a solution to this? i unlocked the legendary aspect of bow and the shield in a run, then i played some, and quit the game. The game said "progress saved less than a mintue ago" but it seems like it doesnt save it. Whenever i launch the game, i start just before i unlocked the legendary aspect of the bow. It happened like 4 times and its frustrating.

Is reporting with F10 supposed to turn your screen into a cyan death screen? In case it isn't and it somehow broke, I tried to open a challenge tome w/ money in it immediately and it looped the encounter.
Also, I closed it through Steam, but it was still running and I had to get Task Manager to kill it.

Basically, when the game can't save, it's almost always because it doesn't have permission to access your Documents folder. There are a few different reasons that can happen - the most common are antivirus software catching the game, or Windows Defender restricting access to your Documents folder. But it can also just be a general file permissions issue - some people have checked their Documents folder and found out that it's set to "Read-Only", which means the game can't write any data there.
If this started happening around the big update, it's possible some file permissions changed, or any whitelists that you had the game added to might need to be checked again, if you didn't already check them.
You should also make sure that when you're quitting out of the game, you're quitting when it's safe to "quit" rather than to "give up" - giving up during a run resets your run progress like you described.
Is the game creating any error messages saying that it can't save?

No, it doesnt create any messages whatsoever, and i quit specifically after the run ends and i run around for like 3 minutes, interacting with npcs etc. and the game says "progress saved less than a minute ago" when i quit so i dont think its because of an error

If you have antivirus software installed, it should have an "exclusion list" or "whitelist" where you can add programs to tell the software to ignore

A lot of the game's code base changed in the latest major update, so it's not impossible that that's the reason it started not saving

Alright; the last thing I can think of if you've tried everything else would be to check your drive for errors:
Right-click the drive letter where your saves are located (usually C:\) > Properties > Tools > Check
If errors are found, restart your PC and Windows will automatically fix them. This process can take up to an hour.```okay. will do. ive got some things i need to test before because i hate doing chkdsk. will update with the results

I'm not sure - I'm afraid I don't really know the technical details behind those crashes. I know there was one that was happening with the game running in the background sometimes, if you click/tab in and out of the game a lot, and one related to audio. I'll play with Aspect of Zeus some to make sure we ironed that one out; otherwise though, you could try playing with different display settings and see if it improves performance, maybe?

Does the game momentarily blur for anyone else when dashing? It's most noticeable when dashing once and then stopping to see the game details go from blurry/smudgey to crisp. It's a bit distracting. Wondering if it's intentional or maybe a nvidia setting is causing it

I had my first Charon fight in Elysium w/ 1 Damage Control for PoP/Heat, and after accepting the VIP Card, I was warped to the next room, which was Asteros(the Minotaur). And... it crashed. The Elysium world-entering text and the Minotaur’s speech occurred more or less at the same time, and I couldn’t interact w/ either before the game came to a crash.

I gotta say, with all due honesty, the amount of time this game has been in production up to and including release... and there being no cloud save on Epic is extremely disappointing. I'm not sure if there's a setting I have wrong (since audio settings are pretty limited), but the voices are incredibly quiet in the game for me. They're so amazingly well done that I'd love to hear it better. The weird thing is that I don't have this issue with any other game!

I'd still add Hades to its scanning exclusion list or whitelist anyways, or try disabling AVG entirely for a few minutes and running Hades to see if that fixes it - I've had folks say before that they couldn't even see that their antivirus was blocking Hades, and it'll rule out a problem from AVG.

I gave it a try so I disabled the file shield, the behavior shield, the web shield, the email shield and the ransomware protection and the issue is still there.

Wild. There are some rarer issues that can be caused by Microsoft OneDrive, or by issues with your actual drive.
You can follow step 5 from this site: https://windowsreport.com/access-is-denied-windows-10/ to disable OneDrive sync for your documents folder

There is a bug with the crowd in the Bull fight with Theseus. The crowd sound like cuts in and out like a bad phone call. This happened before on my windows 7 pc and my brand new pc with windows 10 not sure if that matters. Also I don't remember if this was the case before or after the blood price update.

The game keeps freezing and just cost me a WHOLE run
it happens randomly, got the game for 3 days now and it has happend every single time I played, in total about 6-7-8 times now. usually it happend in the house of hades. but the last time it happend during my best run with a ton of resources and when I fired the game up again I lost everything from the run, it was like I never played it

Two, you can recover a run after the game freezes.

If something happens and you start the game and find your save data missing, chances are it can still be recovered. Please follow these steps:

Basically Aphro cast on Hera is consistently missing enemies entirely / not doing damage

Crush Shot on Hera Aspect. Sometimes the cast does not do any damage when the arrow still hits.
I first assumed it to be a 'gap' from the way the animation looks, but the more i look at clips in slow motion, i think it might be a hitbox interaction when being too close? The animation makes it look like it launches a few yards after the enemy gets hit with the arrow, but that doesn't seem to be the case since it still does damage to the main target when this 'bug' doesn't occur with the same animation. One thing i know is that, whatever this is, it doesn't discriminate with mobs. At least from my personal experience.

Yup, that's fine! We've been aware of issues with Crush Shot's hitbox for a while - it's general across the entire projectile, not limited to just Hera. We'd been waiting to address them until the game's code base overhaul in the Blood Price update, but they're certainly on our radar.

Not sure if similar, but electric shot also has an issue where if you shoot Theseus in the back with the Hera bow, the loaded Electric shots get blocked by his shield. I don't recall if the effect also applies to Greatshields

Good day to all! Today I decided to start a hell mode save file for a change of pace since i have the game since EARLY THIS launch on EGS, the problem is I encountered a rare I guess bug that in Tartarus where I had to pick between Charon or a Centaur Heart before the first boss fight which also was the first for that save file. Zagreus started not going where I wanted him to go , let us say I wanted to go up and left he would stutter and turn somewhere random and keep going. I managed to beat Meg with the bug but when I got to the next region I took unwanted damage from the lava due to him not going where I actually guided him to go. It happened after that point in but then I quit that save file and went back to my maxed out file and I tried testing movement but it didn't happen there. Maybe it's something when you are at the point of choosing Charon's shop or a reward chamber before the boss fight? Idk but I thought I let you know since I do not think it is my controller. I use a pdp PC/Xbox wired controller by the way

@brittle aspen If your controls feel sticky or slippery like that I would recommend adjusting the controller dead zone - it should be in the options menu, though can't remember off the top of my head if it's under "settings" or "controls"
You'll want a larger dead zone to make controls less responsive and less likely to stick - you should be able to adjust it a good bit before you see any input lag

Well I had the deadline set approximately in the middle and had no issues since launch till today in my hell mode save file

Hey, I have a problem. I played Hades for about 90h and everything was working fine. Shortly after the release of Blood Price update (the game was still working) I uninstalled the game and installed it again today. The game windown is black for 2 seconds and then closes itself. It wasn't planned, no - saves are stored locally and any change in your operating system can affect them. If you have Steam, you may be able to retrieve your save from the cloud; Epic doesn't currently have this feature due to technical issues.
If you navigate to \Documents\Saved Games\Hades and there are files called, e.g. Profile1.sav.bak, or Profile2_Temp.sav.bak, you can rename these files to restore your save data by following the instructions in #h1-tech-fixes

Hi folks, been playing Hades for a while but recently thought of streaming it over on DLive. I seem to have a compatibility problem with my streaming software however, which makes it difficult to stream: I'm using Streamlabs OBS and have the Game Capture source, which detects the executable automatically (Hades.exe), but it can't seem to capture the image from the game. When I look over in my preview window, it basically just shows me a black screen. Anyone familiar with this issue and how to fix it? You might have already checked this, but purchasing a game on the Epic Store should provide you with an email receipt. You can try to search your email accounts for a receipt unless you routinely trash and ultimately delete those emails.

Ok, most likely this is a driver issue. It's probably a little deeper than updating your drivers. You'll need to completely uninstall and reinstall them. This tool should help: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
If you have a laptop, once you've uninstalled your drivers, reinstall the original drivers from the laptop's manufacturer. Usually you can find these on the manufacturer's website by searching for your model of laptop. For example, if you have an HP laptop, you would check HP's support page.

· Sort by 'Date modified' to locate your most recent save matching one of these names (assuming you use Save Slot 1): Profile1_Temp.sav, Profile1_Temp.sav.bak, or Profile1.sav.bak
· Rename that file to Profile1.sav
· Then open the Play menu in-game and look for the save.

Linux isn't officially supported as an operating system for the game; I don't use Linux and never have, so there's not really any technical advice I can give you. There are some people here and on Steam who have gotten the game running on Linux, e.g. through Proton - that would be a better place to ask for stability improvements.

Report bugs related to story events (if they shows in bad way, bad time etc), report bugs related to gameplay (bad damage, enemies deal too many etc).
Do not report graphical bugs, stability and crashes as these are most probably issues with proton rather than game if you play on Linux.

Oh, sorry, I see - it's not that Linux bugs aren't relevant, like opelit said. Certain bugs are likely to be very relevant. However, if the bug reporter isn't working for you, I can't suggest a way to fix the bug reporter because the game isn't officially supported on Linux and I don't know what could be breaking it. If you can find advice for how to fix the reporter, that's great - go ahead and report things! If not, no need to worry too much about it

Wanted to follow up on a bug report I submitted earlier so I'm just gonna post it here, rather than submit another report. The bug was that the daedalus hammer upgrade "Snap Nova" stopped working, causing my special to revert back to the standard sword special. The additional information I wanted to provide is that the issue was confined to a single encounter. When I moved to the next chamber, it started working again.

Hi! I Got Hades a couple of days ago, each time I try loading back into the game, it says my save data is corrupted. I followed the directions of the pop up that appeared and tried moving my save files and renaming them but nothing works and all my progress is still corrupted. I don't want to start the game all over for the 3rd time, what should I do?

Hey @pastel sand , if your data is corrupted - as opposed to the game just being unable to save - and the renaming steps haven't worked, it means that your backup files likely got corrupted as well, in which case, your save file can't be restored.
If you've submitted any bug reports using F10 that had any identifying or contact information attached, like your name, email, or discord username, I can search for your report and download the copy of the save file from there for you, but otherwise I'm not sure there's much I can do to help. Sorry for the trouble!

It's hard to say without knowing what's causing the corruption; try not to let your computer die while you're playing, either running out of battery on a laptop or losing power some other way. Don't kill the game process via process manager but try to close out via the main menu if possible. Try checking the integrity of your hard disk using CHKDSK or a similar system integrity checker

this just in I get game working again , apparently the bug happened due to Nvidia latest driver update which made the game broken
I had to redownload the old driver and once I install it loo and behold it works perfectly
so your game is fine, it is just from another software ( the latest update ) that made it broken.

I was unsure wether bug or unintended effect of hammer upgrade being in the boon slot but the hammer upgrade lit up and only 1 of my 2 boons were upgraded

Hello! Entering one of the final Styx chambers, I just now got a "Hades has stopped running..." Windows crash error. When I re-opened Hades, it loaded a save back at the House of Hades with me entering the courtyard. This isn't even where I started when I last opened Hades. A bit odd.
#1) I was able to use the steps in #h1-tech-fixes to restore my save, whew!
#2) Is this a bug I should report in-game with F10? It seems less like a bug though...

@uncut shell losing your save is not really a bug, afaik. Just a known issue. Devs might ask you send them some debug files, so it wouldn't hurt to f10 the crash

Bug report: I was watching a friend have a run and while in Asphodel he started a fishing spot- and just at that moment he got hit with a ball of fire that caused death defiance. The lure was still in the water while he was no longer holding the fishing rod. He couldn't move Zagreus until he failed to catch the fish and things went back to normal after that. Sorry that there's no official report/image/video, I was just a watcher.

Hi - I just lost all my save data and I have no idea what to do. I've tried all the steps in #h1-tech-fixes and nothing has worked. I'm really upset because I've lost nearly 200 hours of progress. I was working on unlocking my heat statues and had nearly all affection and weapon aspects maxed out. I haven't changed anything on my computer, no power cuts, nothing that could possibly have caused this that I'm aware of. Is there any way at all that I can recover my save?

@sharp narwhal Hi there! Frist time posting so I apologize if I don't know how all this works. I'm using a third-party controller (GameSir if that matters) but the game cannot detect it for some reason. I found that disabling vibration might help but that was not my case, apparently. I also tried resetting all settings and controls to default ones to no avail. The controller is a Bluetooth one but it's connected with a wire right now. I tried disabling it in my Steam Controller settings too but that had no effect. I tested if the controller works without those steam settings with Astroneer and had no problems there. Any help is appreciated.

Well, I went to see my Big Picture settings and then I saw steam reporting that there's no controller connected to it. (I wasn't using Big Picture since I disabled it years ago when I was gaming on a potato laptop but that's whole other story). So, I see the error message "No controller connected" and go to re-enable my controller detection and the Big Picture was seeing it. Knowing how tech's can work I start the game again and there it was, working as it should.
I can snag a screenshot but I don't think that it would be much of an insight.

The only thing your mouse does is give information to the computer, the rest is handled through software.
Nothing to worry about.
The only thing I can think of that can ruin your mouse is updating its firmware and interupting said update.

If you're worried about the mechanical aspect of it (extensive clicking), then it's fine. I have my Logitech G Pro Gaming mouse for years now and played a lot of Torchlight 2 with it and it's absolutely fine. So if your mouse is of good quality, it should work for years. Unless of course you will smash it in anger

Yeach, it all about how you use it. I played diablo3 which is hack and slash. Its mainly mouse clicking. I have the same mouse as my friend and we got the mouse in the same time. He replaced his mouse half year ago as it stopped working while mine is still working perfect.

My game just crashed for the first time during the Hades fight when I used Poseidon's call. Had to force close the game, and reloaded at weapon selection. Not sure if the run was logged or what happened. I guess you don't want people exiting the game and save scumming, but having no save point for a run that crashes doesn't seem like the right solution.

Alright. Worth checking to see if your Steam Cloud has the game backed up. Other than that, there isn't anything I can do to help you tonight (I'm about to head off to bed). Hopefully that will work, or one of the devs will be able to reach out to you tomorrow (by their time, which seems to be 15 hours behind you, assuming it's 5 pm for you right now)

Thanks so much! I checked my steam cloud which has the game backed up and the 4 backup files on Steam are the same as the ones on my saved folder but we're not sure why only profile 1 is showing up when the game is loading up the saved files. It seems like the 1kb files for profile 2 is missing but not sure whether that's why profile 2's save game isn't showing up though. Yes, it's 5pm at my end. 🙂
I think i managed to get the issue fixed. I copied the 2 missing files from profile 1 and renamed them profile 2 so that both profiles have all 4 files and it worked!

Usually, when you open the codex next to a named character, it'll automatically display their entry. But now and then it'll be on a different page for me. Has anyone else experienced that? At first I thought it might be because I remapped the codex button to clicking in the right stick and it was getting a residual input while holding in the button, but I tried it on a keyboard and it happens there as well. It seems like it's typically after moving the character, for some reason? It's not picking up stick drifting either, because it also happens without a controller plugged in.
When I'm at Hypnos, for example, it will often open to Charon's or Poseidon's page. Then, at Orpheus it'll open to Tartarus. So I'm guessing it'll occasionally pick up an input that moves the codex page since the 'wrong' page is usually within a button press of the one it should be? (Poseid. to the right from Hyp., Charon up from Hyp., Tart. right from Orph.) I tried it a few times going between Hypnos and Orpheus, and it happens like every third or fourth time, even when I made sure I wasn't pressing any other directions when holding the codex button.
(Don't know if this is the right place for it. Thought of using the in-game bug report thingo, but it doesn't really show on a screenshot. I can also submit this via that tool, if that's a better idea.)

Has anyone else noticed the little white border on the left side of the playable area when using an ultrawide screen?
It is very apparent in the pause screen and also when the screen fades to black during scene transitions

Hi guys, I'm experiencing a lot of crashes with the game. Judging from the logs seems to be related to rendering/video cards.I have an AMD switchable graphics card and Hades seems to insist on using the integrated Intel one.
I did try the steps suggested in the FAQ and the crashing hasn't stopped. Would be grateful for any help = )
Also seems like shift+Enter doesn't put a new line in discord messages.

Not sure? The game launched into early access on December 10th 2018 and is set to come out of early access for the 1.0 release sometime this fall

My game randomly says my save file is corrupted, went through the procedures and only on the final step does it make my game playable again, and its the state from march, 6 months ago.

If your save files are frequently being corrupted, there may be an issue with your drive/local file system - you can try SFC /scannow to check system files, and CHKDSK to check the integrity of your drive.

it's freezing with the sound still playing, I let it sit for 5 minutes but had to force close it

It could be a crash caused by the audio middleware we use; if you alt+tab out of the window a lot, it could also be caused by that. Either way there are several freezes we're looking at fixes for in 1.0. If you continue to have trouble after that we can continue to investigate - if you have a lot of audio devices or controllers plugged in, you could also try removing some to see if stability improves, in which case there may be a compatibility issue.
You can restore save data after a crash following the steps in #h1-tech-fixes

okay that's huge, I don't have to wait for 1.0 in that case. I can deal with losing one room, losing the entire run was getting exhausting
since the save file is there I highly recommend just resetting to previous room in 1.0 instead of resetting the run. 🙂 Thanks for your help

I need some help. Hades runs on my iGPU instead of my other GPU.
The display I am using for Hades is for my proper GPU. Nvidia control panel does not give me an option to force Hades on GPU.
iGPU = intel
GPU = gtx 1060
this is desktop to be clear, not a laptop.

Since nvidia didnt give me the option to give gtx 1060 to hades I did it via windows
this doesnt seem to change anything
Turning off my second monitor, booting up hades, then turning on second screen works so my main monitor does indeed use the dedicated gpu
