Just bought the game. Get somewhat frequent crashes upon exiting a chamber or selecting a boon. Is this a common problem for all? Updated GPU drivers, still happens.

If you get a crash you should see a bug reporter window pop up for it. Go ahead and send that and describe what was happening before it crashed, as having a larger sample size of data will help the devs solve the issue!

If no bug reporter appears after a crash, either reopen the game and report with F10 or send an email

Many of you have emailed me with event viewer logs. Thanks -- these are helpful! I've amended #hades-tech-fixes-old to include instructions for sending DxDiag information, as well.

More generally, if you're crashing without seeing F10 and have not yet verified/reinstalled Hades, I would encourage you to do so.

I have an interesting issue. Setting the game to fullscreen or 1980x1080 borderless with a two monitor setup will put it on the wrong screen, but the mouse movement is still on the main screen and I need to co-ordinate the two to navigate.

I'm trying to transfer my saves from one PC (who doesn't have the latest update) to another (who is at the latest). I moved all the files from C:\Users"me"\Documents\Saved Games\Hades to the same directory in the other PC, but it isn't recognized by the game. I can still start a new profile on the other PC. Has the save directory changed?

Hey guys, did you by chance change something with audio output devices in the last update? Audio via headphone output (speaker) doesn't work for me anymore.

Output via HDMI works, as well as USB. My Oculus Rift outputs in-game sound, even though it's only connected via USB, not HDMI o.O

We didn't change anything about the audio output devices. Might be worth checking device manager for driver updates.

Also, might be worth seeing what happens if you unplug your Rift and restart. Sometimes usb devices mess that stuff up

It seems I may have a possibly device specific I guess bug that causes hades to be unplayable I recently purchased it and installed it and whenever I open it lags to the point that inputs show up minutes later on the menu screen. I have tried updating all the drivers I would think would be relevant and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times nothing seems to work. I was wondering if you might have any other ideas I could try.

Okay so I found a problematic glitch in the hydra fight

#

Not exactly sure how it occurred; I activated my wrath (Ares) and maybe I took damage while doing it; visual glitched and turned into me just walking around

Afterwards; the hydra ai broke, none of them attacked or moved

Because of that; the main head is just permanently immune

Based on @magic matrix 's report I have updated everything I could and there has been a progress, even if just a little one - I can play the game now (it even accesses the proper save) but it only works via shortcut of the x64 exe file with the /UseNativeOpenGLRenderer=false launch option. That didn't work yesterday. The x86 exe file still works by itself. Launching from the Epic Store still doesn't work. I know I might be an isolated case but it could help somebody. EDIT: The Epic Games Launcher needs to be running as well, otherwise the game freezes and quits upon exiting the main menu and entering the actual game.

I have also attempted to open both the x64 and x86 exe's after closing the EG Store, both normally and as an Admin. Neither booted; same issue, the game appears on the task bar, then immediately disappears.

Hi guys, been having tons of fun playing Hades, managed to beat the "final" boss so far, however, from the first day I played I've been getting tons of mini-freezes while I'm playing. I've been putting up with it so far, but it's getting to be quit a pain especially now I'm playing around with the contract system. I've tried all the performance-improving recommendations that I've found on the forums, but none of these have fixed anything for me. I'm currently on 16GB RAM with a Radeon RX 580 card so I wouldn't have thought it would be an issue, so I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues in the past? Thanks in advance

@hollow compass If you have a discrete and an onboard video card be sure to follow this guide to ensure that the game is using your discrete card, and not your onboard Intel card:

I'm running into an issue with kb+m input. Most of the time it's fine, but sometimes JUST the attack (or special or cast) input will lock up. I'll still be able to move just fine, but until I special (or cast or attack) the locked up one won't register the command. I only experience this problem inside Hades, never outside, so I don't think this is hardware- or driver- related issue. I don't believe I experienced this before the High Speed Update. Any ideas?

A couple updates ago, a lot of people had mouse input issues (often described as lag or dropped inputs), which is why that's in the FAQ. I haven't heard it described exactly as you have, but I figure it's a good place to start

Im also having some major kb+m problems right now. While in game while moving all input from my mouse stops, i cant move the cursor, and neither mouse button will work. If i stop moving it takes 1 second for any inputs to register again from my mouse. If i move after it begins working again my mouse instantly freezes in place and all inputs freeze until i stop moving and wait an additional second.

Iv tried uninstalling and reinstalling, i have the most recent drivers for my mouse, i dont own an xbox controller so i dont have the update mentioned in the FAQ, Troubleshooter says i dont need any updates or fixes, iv tried turning on and off most of the settings including mouse lock, and i have the most recent windows update installed. But still i cant even begin to play the game due to this bug/error

idk if that's a bug but I've noticed that when witches shoot the image get slightlt blurry... as long as the projectile exists. Will check it with other enemies.... maybe it's just because I am playing on a potato pc

Hiya, I've just downloaded the High Speed Update and I was getting ready to get back into playing but the game isn't launching for me. When I click the game, it appears in my taskbar for a second before closing out and then the epic store opens. I've tried launching from the epic games store and I've tried running it as an administrator, I've restarted my computer and I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I'm not too sure what else to try. To be clear, I've been able to play the game before.

I am having the same problem where the game opens for a second and immediately closes before loading. I updated my windows and it says no more updates, I updated my drivers (under device manager - display adapters if those are the correct drivers). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times and tried to run it directly from the application file....but nothing is working. Are there other drivers I should be updating?

You probably have antivirus software that's blocking the game from saving. Whitelist Hades with your software and it should work! Check #hades-tech-fixes-old for more details

hey, I think bonus % for rare/epic doesn't work when you get 2 gods - I like to have some crazy fun stuff sometimes and set bonus epic and rare chance to 999% but the 2nd god doesn't offer any rares/epics while I get epic every single time when it's only a single god

@main plaza yeah, that happens sometimes; if you save and reload it should fix itself and show the real room reward. if you're still in the room where it happened (~~the room where it happened, the room where it happened~~) then press the f10 button ingame to bug report it, or if not, just f10 it if you see it again

I have an odd problem and the tech-fixes channel doesn't seem to have it listed. I just recently uninstalled the Epic Games Launcher, then reinstalled it and my Hades didn't want to update. I decided to just uninstall it to install it again, hoping it'd be the updated version when I install it, but now the Epic Games Launcher just wants me to buy the game again rather than letting me download it. I tried uninstalling and installing the Launcher in hopes that it was a simple bug, and Fortnite is still in my library despite having been uninstalled for a long, long time. Hades isn't in my library at all :/ does anyone know how to fix that? I love the game but I don't exactly want to buy it twice for no reason.

the game just froze for me in the theseus fight, then it quit out. when reloading it put me back in The House of Hades, instead of the last checkpoint . All stuff won seems to be gone. Just thought you should know and if there's anything I can send you guys, let me know.

@coarse hearth game crashes often read to the game the same way as using the "give up" option during a run, which resets progress

your run should still be seeded the same way though, when you play again

Hi, I am running the game on Ryzen 2400G with Vega11 graphics (3GB). I am experiencing a lot of fps drops, especially when there are a lot of effects or enemies around, or the room I am in is pretty large. I don't understand why this happens as the Vega11 iGPU should be more than capable of running this game at 60 fps. Is this APU not enough for the game?

IGPU probably use memory from RAM which can bottleneck your iGPU (especially slower ram or too small amount of ram)

I have 16GB dual channel at 3000mhz, I don't believe RAM is slowing down anything. Also, I can run more graphically intense 3d games with no dips. This one seems to dip to 35 - 40 fps no matter what I do, even lower resolutions.

Plus, the recommended system requirements state 2GB of VRAM. I have 3GB allocated so, even if it is bottlenecking, the 1GB of overhead should even that out.

Don't want to flex, but I have done system requirements for Ubisoft, I know my way around game engines and hardware. This clearly is optimisation related

It looks like some effects, rooms and sometimes weapon animations are not properly optimised

Quick solution for this Ive did is to go to radeon settings, games, choose hades and turn off v-sync

For me the game holds 120-80 fps.

Idk why the game don't want tu use gpu fully and even at 40% usage drops to 30fps v-sync...

GTX 1660 Ti, Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, NVMe, FreeSync enabled. This game occasionally dips into low framerate territory as others have stated, even though my modern GPU is capable of running something like Shadow of the Tomb Raider at Ultra settings at 60+ fps. I believe this to be an optimization issue with the game in its current state. I just upgraded from a much slower system with a GTX 950 and the intermittent slowdown issue persists, even though the new computer gets literally 4x faster frame rates in games.

I'm sure it will get worked out before the game goes gold.

@urban coral if the game doesnt appear in your library when you switch PCs that might be a problem to message epic games support about, but if you by any chance are just missing your saves, you have to manually transfer those. theyre located in documents/saved games/hades

I can't seem to get the game to display in 1080p on Share Screens. Important info being that I've tried with borderless, fullscreen, borderless and fullscreen. And in every single resolution under 1080p it works, but when I leave the menu on 1080p it freezes on the Shared Screen. Any fixes?

First off, I am in love with this game, which is why it crushes me that it crashes so often.

Problem: The game experiences major slowdown --> stall (requires computer restart) somewhere between 1 and 30 minutes of play. I have noticed that the game clocks in at 100% GPU (CPU and memory don't get much above 35%), I cannot alt f4 or force close with task manager (have to hard reset computer), I lose access to mouse, music plays but sound effects loop, after I click enough post stall I get computer beeps (unfortunately it is a very inconsistent number).

Solutions I have tried: Uninstall/reinstall, adding a clean new hard drive for the game to live on, dusting my computer, installing and using an optimization tool, trying different resolutions / fullscreen-borderless, and getting the latest drivers.

Currently using an Nvidia 1080i.

Hey guys. I've been experiencing an intermittent problem for the past few in which the game slows down and stutters with massive framerate drops, especially when there are a lot of enemies and effects on the screen.

I initially suspected that it was my aging PC, as I was only running a GTX 950 GPU. I recently picked up a new PC consisting of a Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, GTX 1660 Ti, NVMe SSD, etc. Completely destroys the old gaming PC.

Well... to much dismay I discover the problem persists. Every other title I own runs at 60+ FPS at 1080p at ultra settings, so something is definitely going on here...

So after much troubleshooting, I finally pinpoint the cause of the problem. It's the freakin Xbox One controller connected via Bluetooth! I disabled Bluetooth and switched over to the keyboard, and now everything runs flawlessly. FPS is smooth as silk, with zero stuttering.

I was able to reproduce the problem on my old rig and my laptop. Bluetooth connected controllers really wreak havoc on this game in its current state.

Can the devs look into this? I submitted an in-game report, but this was before I found the cause of the problem.

I'll try the graphics drivers again now...it was a clean install but they were the 431.36 nvidia drivers so might as well update!

to be clearer, there was an event viewer issue for hades:

@compact plinth do you run the game thru epic games? if yes try running it manually. Go to hades folder , x86/x64 and hades.exe. for me when the game doesnt works on x64 usually works on x86 , 😃

Set your game to Windowed and No Border in the Display Menu. If that doesn't help, lower your Resolution in-game

Be sure to follow this guide to ensure that the game is using your nVidia card, and not your onboard Intel card:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4.5 redistributable.

It's the first option under settings. Verifying generally helps stabilize the game but it also makes sure your patch is up-to-date if you have auto updates turned off/were offline when you opened the game

Yeah, I've posted about it previously but not solution has worked. Sometimes I can't start a run before it crashes, sometimes I'll be partway through and it crashes. and 9 times out of 10 when the crash happens it doesn't save and I have to start my run over.

I'm still unable to launch the game, from the previous patch or the current one. My errors in Dxdiag are of the CLR20r3 variety. I've already tried everything in #hades-tech-fixes-old . My previous email message to tech support (only 8 days ago; they were probably busy with new patch) went unanswered. I emailed again today. Cuz it's important to have opengl at newest version even when game requires 2.5+

Whats a bit sad on off topic, cuz opengl on amd cards run as bad that I have 30-250 fps range drops with rx570 8gb. That's not bad as it's early acces, but my friend with mx150 have stable 90-150 heh

If you have laptop u have a integrated graphic and probably dedicated graphic. In case u have only integrated then nothing to set. If you have dedicated one then in Nvidia graphic settings set high performance processor for hades.exe which should be on list if you ever play :=

I get the epic games launcher, then a Hades icon in the taskbar, then it goes away, then the epic games launcher gets focus -- regardless of whether I launch from shortcut or epic games launcher.

Welp... despite my best efforts to install a new driver, it appears that I had somehow installed a very old driver instead.

#

Carefully installing the new driver just quietly fixed the problem entirely.

I should have been able to figure this out because one of the events in Windows Event Viewer mentioned OpenGL a lot.

on launch of the latest update the game causes 1 of my 3 monitors to flicker constantly between the desktop and a blank screen the color of the background loading screen when you first launch the game. It doesn't stop unless i disable or turn off that monitor. This doesn't seem to effect my other monitor.

driver update and restart seems to have fixed it.

Check in settings if hades run in full screen, if it's borderless it will run in place when it was running last time since it's basically a window

Yea I had accidentally downloaded an old driver from nvidia @deep seal ; if you see something about OpenGL in the windows Event Viewer then it is even more likely a driver issue

Guys beside the crashes in new biome (loading game again should put you in place when it crashed, so no progress lost).
Always remember to have up-to-date drivers. Even when other games works doesn't mean these are OK.

If you don't know what graphic card you have click windows button, hit devmgmt.msc, device manager will open, expand graphic card, choose your one, right click and Update Driver. Follow with 2-3 steps.
If you still own Windows in version 7/8/8.1 in a folder where you installed Hades go to Dependencies and run the installer.
@crisp lintel Try run game directly, go to folder where you installed Hades go to x64 and run Hades.exe with Admin privileges.

Hey Culest, if your game is missing from the library entirely you can contact Epic Games support with your proof of purchase and they should be able to help you out. You can show them your payment history, which can be found with the following steps:
-Open the Epic Games launcher & sign-in
-Click your username in the bottom left corner
-Go to "Manage Account"
-Then to "Payment History"
-Click on the blue "Hades" title and it will give you your order ID

New laptop, wanted to see how game runs. Game won't launch (blackscreen and then auto-close). Game does not persist in task manager.
Troubleshooting attempted: Whitelisted on Bitdefender (folder access and ransomware), free malwarebytes (no automated protection I'm aware of), ran as admin, restarted computer/epic store, added to steam and ran from steam, ran 32 and 64 bit versions.
Acer Spin 3, i7 8565U, UHD 620 iGPU, Windows 10x64. All drivers updated as of 2 days ago.

files were verified, currently reinstalling, malwarebytes hasn't scanned since the 8/1 but I added the entire epic games folder (in non-x86 program files) to whitelist to be safe.
nothing showed in the log concerning Hades.
latest is 25.20.100.6617, I'm up to date.

I once had a laptop that was absolutely riddled with malware and antimalwarebytes saved it from utter destruction (about 9? years ago). I've installed it on all my new computers since.
Never really trusted base Windows defense, I could give it a whirl i suppose now that I've had bitdefender for a while.

Well right, all i can say then its that now u dont need any 3th party antiviruses . The windows defender is one of best currently . 7 years ago it was good to have cuz windows defender has low scanning success and had much less features

Not sure this actually solves your problem, but if you delete eggs from your auto-start and just not launch it until you want to (using the .exe to launch the game), it wouldn’t be able to force notifications through? At least I don’t recall getting any until I open my eggs

So I got a really big issue, I already spoke to Epic CS team and they basically told me "it's a Supergiant problem, they need to help you". I'm not sure if anyone really can help but I'm going to try, because Hades vanished from my account. And I have no way to get it back.

Paid March 22nd for Hades. Played it just fine until two days ago. I had uninstalled it and went to reinstall but the game entirely vanished from my library. Over two days the Epic support team has told me they found no record of my purchase and I have to get Supergiant to fix it???? I'm fairly sure there's nothing that can be done on this side but I want to just check before I go for Epic customer service's weave.

That. That's definitely an Epic problem. Them not archiving your game data somewhere so you can recover it after a game's uninstalled has nothing to do with the game itself. That's just wild. O~o" They should be restoring your purchase at least, seeing as you have proof of purchase on your end. That's...some interesting customer service........

@cyan lotus - this may or may not be useful to you, but Hades doesn't actually delete your save unless you then overwrite it by starting a new save in the same slot. If you close and re-open the game, your save should be there.

uh I got poseidon "wall bounce" bonus and in the last zone there are multiple walls close together - I threw enemy into one of them and the monster started bouncing ultrafast for split of a second and the game froze now with the bounce effect forever lmao, is this known issue?

I used Attack with a Spear with bonuses such as longer spear attack, knock back and wall bounce from poseidon and the mob in temple simply hit a wall and game freeze with 1 core maxed at 100%, probably infinite loop of hitting the wall? There was a repeating sound tho - hitting wall and dashing

I did 2 runs so far in this patch and this is the first issue I encountered so far, game feels good as always otherwise

there was no error but if there is log file I might take a look

as for graphics, I have constantly 100-300 fps, high end pc on my side... the good thing is there is autosave every round and after loading back in there was no issue

Yeah, it may have gotten caught on the geometry and looped, like you said - if you encounter anything like that again, hit F10 when you recover the save. Having your build and the chamber you're in would help possibly reproduce it

Found a bug where if you press pause right at the start of the Hydra Boss Battle, the game will freeze. The game sounded like it still runs, but visually the game just pause right before the moment I hit pause.

closing the game will send me right back to house to Hades, as if i had not started the game :(

@charred kite Yes, crashes often register to the game as an attempt to save-scum, and the run will have been reset. Your random seed should be the same though, so your next run should look like the one that crashed.
When you encounter bugs, please report them with F10 in-game if you can! Preferably in or just before the area where the problem occurs.

If you don't want to log in every time to another account you can run the game from your main. Click shift + right click : run as another user.

Hades freezes my computer all the time. It's gotten much, much worse after the last big update. I struggle to finish even over biome before freeze & reboot. I don't know what to do; I've tried the follow the instructions reported here on discord, but my video card is not nVidia.

(To be clear: the game always had this issue for me, but with far less frequency. Now it's completely unplayable. It just freezes the whole pc, and there's no way short of rebooting to fix it. It may be related to the graphic card overheating, maybe? But many more demanding games give me no issue at all. Drivers are all up to date)

I don't know if this is a bug or just incredibly bad RNG but for the past several runs where I've attempted an Artemis run, no matter how many times I get an Artemis boon, her attack upgrade never shows up. Also I feel like the run randomization might be a bit off for me because I kept getting the same boons, although in a different order, to previous runs. In an Artemis run, I'd always get Artemis dash, Aphrodite cast, Artemis any damage crit then after that, pretty much all the other Artemis upgrades except for Artemis attack. This has happened for at least 6 runs even after trying different runs in between some of them.

Scroll to the bottom until you see Hades.
Expand Hades
Click "Additional Command Line Arguments"
Type Launch Options into the text box that appears

I followed these steps, the game is white listed in my virus protection, I followed the steps in the first link, one drive is uninstalled, there is a file under saved games > hades, there are no errors on my storage device.

@sly mist The main thing you need to do to improve at computers is be more resourceful. For example if someone asks you if you have looked at Windows Event Viewer, if you don't know what that is, you should either Google "Windows Event Viewer" or search "Event Viewer" in the discord search box

I have a problem which is sometimes Zag just keeps running automatically and he won't stop. It's very annoying since he can run into traps or lava and take a lot of damage. I can't stop him doing it so I just have to wait when he stops moving. I thought that maybe it's a bug because I dash a lot but it happens even without dashing.

After the newest patch, the game is very laggy during combat. The game used to be smooth as a flowing river but it is glitchy/laggy during combat. After combat, I can move smoothly and the game is responsive to keyboard + mouse inputs. But combat is a borderline trainwreck.

The game doesn't currently have cloud save functionality. If you can still access the files on your old laptop, they'll be in Documents/Saved Games/Hades; otherwise, there's unfortunately no way to restore them.

Hello! I read all tech fixes and nothing helped me. After Hermes update my framerate became terrible. Fullscreen is plain slideshow, not-fullscreen is around 25 fps or lower in big semi-big areas (only personal room is okay frame-rate wise). I am using radeon vega 64 and ryzen 2700x. Screen is 3440x1440. Latest radeon drivers ofc. Used to be great before that particular update. Is there anything i can do on my side?

btw why do you have v20003 when latest patch is v19998?

@carmine spruce till you dont have radeon 5700 use 18.5.3 driver. Also AMD performance for OpenGL (Hades is opengl) is bad, look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4raMkzwwU7Q

i am struggling to comprehend why i should update for lower/same performance card or understand something about opengl and how it should affect my game performance that used to be okay before latest bunch of patches, i was hoping performance would be fixed but its still horrible since then thats why i am seeking help

Well its beta/early access . They add more things without optimizations. Its not a time for that now. They of course focus on giving us access without bugs but that's all. If we are talking about drivers well its know that since 19.7.3 the performance dropped avarage by 7-8% and in some case even by 20%- 19.8.1 is better-probably bugs due of RX 5700 caused that. So as I said if you don't have RX 5700 which need new drivers stay with 19.5.3

Can you check in radeon settings if you use vsync? try on/off and freesync if you have . I had to turn off vsync to make game playable from 30-40fps to 100fps with drops to 60-70fps. I use iGPU vega11 , fullHD

I think i managed to figure out something about current situation, just having obs running in a background apparently slows the game down, without obs it looks smooth now (i repaired game through epic games launcher just in case). Feels like game cannot take resources from video card or something. Its not about my card not having enough power though, gpu load at best is 57%. Anything i can do to force game to have a priority over other processes?

Fullscreen or borderless options still destroy game performance even without obs though, for some reason limiting game to just 9% of video card load.

At the same time during gameplay load from the game jumps between 0% and 52-57% constantly at least in system monitor.

gameplay load from the game jumps between 0% and 52-57% the same for me but GPU stays at 400MHz and up to ~70% You can give real time performance for hades process but never tried it with games. For testing like cinebench it help me to ignore background process cuz the one will have priority

Well, for me increasing priority for hades.exe doesnt increase performance , just CPU boost to max, increasing temps heh

I had a power outage and when I turned the game back on my saved data was gone. I'm not to worried about it, as I have beat the game several times and was going to wait for full release and restart anyways, but I felt I should put this out out there so the problem was seen.

Like your entire save folder got wiped? Did you lose any other documents off your computer, because unless you were playing the game at the time, I don't know why that specifically would be targeted...

In game the save file was still there but it had reset 1 escape attempt and 0 darkness. When I tried to open it I was prompted if I did so my data would be reset even though it already had and I was not hitting the trash icon on the left but the file itself. I found what appears to be my old data on a document titled profile1_temp and tried to paste it on profile1.save which was empty before continuing through the game menu but the it ended up starting me back at the beginning anyway.

I got a windows update yesterday and now I noticed that when Im playing Hades my mouse cursor is slower and clunky, also, while moving the cursor I notice that the windows cursor keep flashing behind the game cursor and I think that this is the reason that is making the slow and clunkness, like if the my mouse cursor is flashing out of the game, any ideas of what to do and whats the fix?

during an encounter i realized one of my death defiances looked like it disappeared? it reappeared back after the encounter was over but i felt like i should bring it up just in case

You can back up your save files

#

They're in your documents folder, so if you want to keep a copy elsewhere so you don't lose progress again you can. Epic is also working on rolling out cloud saving so that may be an option soon

i didnt mean that it happens very frequently to all people, i meant that the nature of early access is that sometimes game breaking bugs like crashing and losing all your saves happen. but theyre not super super frequent. sorry for being misleading!

my save file still has the current date 8/18 [died at 4 am] but yah when i open the game it says last played jan @_@

Yeah, it sounds like something got corrupted when the game/your computer crashed. If you already tried the methods in #hades-tech-fixes-old there's not a lot else that can be done

Hi, I am playing the game on a Xbox controller and I've noticed that sometimes the Dash and Cast are activated by the same button in my case B. When I tried to reset the controlls with the controller it doesn't let me navigate the page as opposed to when I use the keyboard and the mouse. The game plays and runs funtastically with the controller and aside from the above mentioned "bug" I see no problem. P.S. : I had the same problem with the previous versions although now it happens not so often I'd say rarely.
