Heyo! I usually suggest starting with Default, and as long as that works well, you should be fine to stick with it.

32-bit will usually have slightly lower graphics quality in favor of performance. Vulkan and DirectX are pretty much identical, though they may get different performance on different systems.

Wanted to bring this short interaction to your attention, not sure how it wasn't brought up long ago, or if Hades has any chance of ever getting small patches again

but I played 61 hours before I finally thought to ask and it was explained just now that you can select both full screen and borderless settings but that one stops the other from working

it's an odd design choice that ideally would be changed so that the full screen setting greys out the borderless setting to make it clear they are mutually exclusive

good evenng all, so im having a fairly serious problem, just got to my first chaos gate and went into it, and now my game is broken, first an error report thing pops up then after i submit and close the report it fully loads in but i cant move or do anything at all except hit escape or start and exit out of the game, the following is the thing it pops up with

Is it possible for me to to somehow transfer it over to steam and play it from there? I have removed epic from my PC and would like to not get it back, if possible

Heyo! There isn't a direct way to transfer the game itself, unfortunately. Depending on how much you played you may be able to refund it through the Epic website, and then purchase it on Steam.

Alternatively, and this would require briefly installing Epic, you could reinstall the game and move it to a new file location before uninstalling Epic. You wouldn't be able to have Steam features, but you could still add that exe to your Steam library for quick access.

Apologies for the delay. I'm not sure that would be enough to launch it from Steam, but there's a feature in Steam to add a non-Steam game to your Library, which is what I'd recommend doing after you move the files from Epic's folder

This isn’t major but the music and sounds go crazy if you open something and hades is open. It pauses gameplay but music that should last 3 seconds lasts as long as hades is in the background and sound affects sometimes do that and sometimes do their regular time?

it will go through game files and check they all are as they are supposed to, and if it finds an issue it will redownload the specific files

It's not a game breaking bug I encountered, but rather an odd occurrence. I was battling Lernie (upgraded heat stage) and he jumped from the center to the bottom of the map. Luckily I had the Dionysus boon on my cast, so I finished him off that way, but he was stuck there for the rest of the fight - not spawing any of the other Lernie heads in till he was finished

Again, not a game breaking bug, but something I thought I should bring up in a bug related channel 👍

The final fight especially. I'm on zero heat right now. It feels like the pattern is off, but I have trouble articulating it. He seems to do his lasers more, and he doesn't refill the vases as much, but I probably have to record it.

Oh, that was the other thing. I had a boon that fired an arrow everytime I used attack/special/cast. Did not always fire.

From experience, support fire, like zeus bolts, seems to have some sort of short cooldown timer.

This does not seem to be the case. Sometimes, my screen was filled with Artemis' arrows. Other times, just one or two. I tried it both with targets and without.

I just bought hades on steam and am trying to get my existing switch cross save to show up. I've connected it to my steam account on my switch but have no indication on how to get it on my computer's steam hades. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Having to spend the last half hour doing captchas to log into my steam account was super not fun.

Heyo! There should be instructions in-game, but what you need to do is load your save, and then select "sync and quit" from the quit menu

I have all the achivements for the game.
Now when i was over att my girlfriends place i logged into my steam account to play some games that wasnt hades.

Now when my girlfriend logged back into her Account and launched hades she got into my version somehow and not hers?
So when steam detected my save on her pc she unlocked all achievements.
She’s has not finished the game so this really sucks for her.
Any1 know if theres any chance to revert this?

For future reference, this happened because the game uses the Documents / Saved Games / Hades folder, which is based on the Windows account and not the Steam account. So if you do switch accounts on the same user, you may want to move the save files around to ensure each of you are using the correct ones

Effectively, yeah—Steam probably saw your save file as more recent, so it updated the file in the Documents folder to match. To mitigate that, you could copy the local saves out before switching accounts, then copy them back in after switching back.

Usually when I move my mouse around the screen, the camera slightly pans towards that edge of the screen.
I found that after entering Chaos, the camera is now locked/fixed on Zag for the rest of the session (both at the house and in combat), and the mouse won't let me influence the camera.

hello there i found a bug with Hades on pc/steam. my codex is not updating i was doing the poseidone fish prophecy but it didn't update my entry. trout is already done but it says i didn't find a single knucklehead. i am also certain that there are more hidden entries. like i'm almost 100% sure that there is a anvil entry but i'ts not seen anywhere. i'm basically stuck to never fufil this prophecy. What also just happend i got the ||companion mort ||but didn’t got the entry for it. i already did a steam verify integrity of game files and nothing was wrong.

if you have fast reaction time it is probably likely

0.34 to 0.68 sec is the time for a normal catch

a couple of things require them to be used/picked up a couple of times for the codex entry to appear, like anvil (artifacts) and mort

Alright, try this:

1. Start up the game
2. Delete Profile2_temp.sav
3. Replace Profile2.sav with Profile2.sav.bak4
4. Open the "play" menu

If that save isn't correct, try the other .sav.bak files, one of the larger ones should be correct

Hello ! I'm quite embarrassed bc I'm not sure if it's a bug or really really bad rng :
I've played around 80 run and unlocked every aspect but Lucifer, despite having invest more than 5 TB on the 2 non-zagreus aspect. The thing is, few times ago I had Zeus giving me the Waking Phrase, but I had to abandon the run to change weapon. Anyway, since then, despite having encounter Zeus a lot of time, with and without his trinket, he never gave me the Waking Phrase again... Now most of the time I see him, he just doesn't even show and doesn't talk at all, just giving me the boon directly. I feel a bit blocked and feel that I will never be able to unlock this aspect of rail, do someone have a solution ?

I hesitated to reinstall because installing the first time around took me 1 hour and 20 minutes but i decided to reinstall anyway, and its reinstalling right now. Hiya! If you used cloud saves, the latest save files should be automatically downloaded if you launch the game via launcher, so it's worth trying that first.

If that doesn't happen, the save files are located here:

• On Windows, navigate to Documents\Saved Games\Hades
• On macOS, use Finder’s Go > Go To Folder menu and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades

Then you can manually move the .sav and .sjson files between laptops.

Huh. Glad there seem to be a workaround, at least, rebinding the dash. And also, as I wrote earlier, might be worth trying to adjust mouse sensitivity, both scroll wheel and click, maybe you'll be able to find the a sweetspot.

when aiming with the rail using a mouse, it doesnt aim exactly where my mouse is, i find myself overcompensating and aiming lower than where my enemies are instead of aiming exactly at them

i spoke to someone in general about this, and they said that the rail gun only shoots in a number of set angles, so i thought that maybe this is a rounding error where the angle that the bullets are shot are only rounded down instead of to the nearest angle (floor vs round)

aim at their feet/shadow. the game is isometric so, from my understanding the aim is based on where your cursor is on the ground. although the attack is rendered with additional height you will notice that the attack is parallel with zags feet to your cursor and only appears to travel above your cursor because of the added height. if you aim at an enemies upper portions you are actually aiming at the ground behind them so aim at their feet.

To add to what PseudoNewb wrote, some enemies might have smaller hitboxes, which could make your shots with Rail to miss if you aim near their heads. So aiming at feet should generally do the trick. You could also try playing with Aim Assist on, which will automatically lock on the nearest enemy, and at the same time, shouldn't take away freedom of aiming where you'd like.

But from what I remember, it seems that Dusa needs to give you a specific line so that the bond is fully forged (and you get the pin on her keepsake). Unfortunately, this does take some time and depends on RNG, so try talking to Dusa as much as possible, doing a run and completing it or dying (but not using Give Up), talking to her, then doing a run again.

With Aphrodite, you need her to ||comment on the all bonds Zag forged, so it seems Dusa's bond is holding you back||.

It also might be worth verifying the game files integrity or reinstalling the game.

When using Trippy Shot, my casting gems disappear over the course of a fight. Every once in a while, I fire off a cast and it vanishes from my inventory, but it never lands, so I can't retrieve it. They replenish when I go to the next map, but running out of them in long boss fights means Trippy Shot is unusable. Other folks on the Steam forums report the same bug with other sorts of casts, but I've only noticed it with Trippy Shot.

I think the only way is to use "Sign in with Epic Games " option. Hey, this is a minor bug that’s still pretty annoying, but everytime I conplete a run and return to the House of Hades, the music resets and nothing plays, even though I’ve set the music to something else from the music chamber. hello!, im having a big problem with Hades, so, once i load my save file, the game thinks that im holding RMB (attack) when im actually not, and once i cancel the attack (dashing) the game wont let me attack, it registers the input (i can see the cursor's little animation when you click on something) but it dosent attack, but as example, once i close any menu or re enter a room, the game will again think that im holding RMB. i tried remapping the attack control, but once i click it to then remap to a key, the game wont register anything at all, it still registers the inputs of the movements of my mouse and my clicks, but they are useless since they dont do anything, in wich case the only exit is to ALT+F4

Why common fish are not common ? Im at 250+ runs and just trying to finish my codex, just a single trout away but it's nearly impossible to catch it. So i have to run back to back for like 15m per run just for 20% chance to have a fishing spot in Greece and even then i still have to pull between 0.34 and 0.68 sec for a normal catch just for a 50/50 chance to catch a trout. Yeah, it could be a false positive, however, any file can get infected, so it's worth being cautious. Try also adding Hades.exe to whitelist for your antivirus. (The reason steam_api file is flagged might be because Steam's API is used to run the game's exe).

Hell Mode shouldn't interfere with achievements. Are you launching the game through the launcher or via shortcut? You also need to be online for achievements to be registered.

Hello folks! Found a minor issue/bug: when using Exagryph and spamming movement + dash, reload sometimes interrupts your movement, forcing you to stand still until the end of the reload. Hiya, reporting here is fine! It could be like you're saying, that there's too many inputs within small time frame. What I think is happening, is that with several inputs pressed within very short time, sometimes only some of them are registered, which might look like Zag is unresponsive. So basically, movement input is not registered just long enough for the standing-still-and-reloading animation to play, which needs to finish in order for Zag to start moving again. Wouldn't say it's a bug, just the way the game works 😉

Hello, something strange is happening in my game and I don’t know if it is a glitch or not. I was playing hades on my laptop, and I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t very good with the controls though. So when I bought a switch I loaded my saves onto it. Everything seems to be the same. except I have played probably five runs, and I haven’t seen sisyphus a single time since I started playing on the switch. I also haven’t seen the room of rest. Hello! When it comes to Sisyphus (and any other NPC rooms), and healing Fountain rooms, they can appear randomly during runs, they are not guaranteed to appear each time. So it seems you've just been unlucky, but they should appear eventually.

Also, if you're struggling with the difficulty, you can try turning God Mode on (in Settings), which gives small damage reduction each time you die, and you can turn it off or back on again whenever you'd like.

hi there, i have only ever played Hades on my steam deck. today I went to launch it like any normal day and my save file is gone. It shows that i am using 0/XX MB cloud storage, as if I have never played before. I have navigated to where I believe save files are stored, but I don't see a Profile1.sav. I see Profile1.sjson if that means anything. would love to recover my 70 hours!

Previously I had only checked where they were supposed to be in the compatdata folder, however there was an entire duplicate saved games folder for Hades located elsewhere. I copied the profile1.sav back into the compatdata folder and everything seemed fine. Should I be worried about this other folder? Should I move all of its contents over? (There were tons of backup files in there too) I’m worried if this happens again that it might not know what to do if there are other copies of similar named files

the first problem i noticed was after downloading the speedrunning modpack, a few days later(i completed runs fine) i came across the first problem

the game froze on the ending results screen after you beat hades, and it showed that all my clear times were 0:00:00 and there was no data there, then the bug report showed up and it forced me to task manager the game to exit(i couldn't exit the results screen even though the game was still responding)

it happened 3 more times today, and only after this run did i notice that only the "monumental" runs in my run history were saved

Hm... Maybe try backing up and then deleting your settings file:

This will restore game settings to default, so you'll need to rebind keys again.

Try also restarting the game and see if the issue persists.

Only other thing that comes to mind is that key/mouse click sensitivity was changed somehow, maybe by pressing a certain combination of keys on a keyboard. That's a wild guess, but worth investigating that way, as I'm not sure what could've caused behavior to change like that, especially since it was fine before...

Still not working, although I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I tried changing the save file multiple times as instructed. I noticed the "date modified" on the .sav file was not matching the date on the Hades interface profile selection screen.

The one's I named "_old_old_old...." are the one's I've previously changed to "Profile1.sav" and nothing changed. The one that is highlighted is from 2022 (used to be a .bak file) and it's the one I've most recently changed to "Profile1.sav". However nothing is changing with my profile in the game. Just to make sure - you need to change the file name while the game is not opened. So change the file name first, then launch the game.

You could also try changing one of the Temp.sav files into Profile3.sav or Profile4.sav if you haven't used 3rd and 4th save slot.

From my experience, cloud saves Write to Local when the game is opened and Save from Local when the game is closed. If there's a conflict when they Write, they might say something, but that doesn't usually happen during save recovery because the Local save is older than the Cloud save

If you're playing on the first save slot, I'd try backing up and then deleting settings file Profile1.sjson, which is located in \Documents\Saved Games\Hades\

This will restore Settings to default. After that, try turning the subtitles on again.

Hmm, this is really odd. One reason that comes to mind causing the subtitles not to show is missing files (especially since post-run text is missing, which I believe should always show, regardless of subtitles setting), which verifying/reinstalling should fix...
Or, maybe it's a memory issue - did you check you have enough disk space and RAM while playing the game?

What platform and OS are you on? Was it always like that, or happened recently? Are you using any mods by any chance?

And just to make sure - you can hear the voice lines playing just fine, right? Only the subtitles don't show up?

OMG! I finally found the cause, which is related to the audio.

I believe there's a technical issue with Windows Audio that caused the subtitles to disappear in Hades (and SkyrimSE). I had to find a solution by selecting the second option, "This account," on the Log On tab of the properties window for both Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder in the Services menu. So, the problem's solved.

Hi, since I was experiencing stuttering I tried a few of the fixes and found the following:
DirectX: No stuttering using /UseSwapEffectDiscard=true, smooth alt-tab
Vulkan: No stuttering, monitor reboot on alt-tab (windowed and fullscreen)
32-bit: No stuttering, smooth alt-tab
So just wondering if one of DirectX with launch option vs 32-bit is better, or it just doesn't matter.
And also something I just found quite extreme and thought I'd mention is using DirectX or 32-bit uses ~10% GPU while Vulkan uses ~85% (4k 144Hz)

Different launch options should help with performance (and compatibility), so if you see no difference after using DirectX with that launch option, then it doesn't really matter, I'd say. It's all about having a smooth experience 🙂

If Vulkan causes such high CPU usage, then I'd personally avoid it.

Hi everyone, is there a way to cap the sync your screen's refresh rate? Turning VSync On/Off, going fullscreen/windowed changes nothing. Hades always seems to go up to 600 FPS which I imagine is the engine's soft cap. Any clues ? I would prefer not forcing it through Nvidia and am looking for ideas. I have a Freesync AOC monitor with 144 Hz.

With VSync on it should be capped at your monitor's selected refresh rate, so if toggling VSync setting is doing nothing, try launching the game as administrator.

It might be worth checking NVidia's Control Panel global settings to see if it doesn't override any in-game's setting.

Three times now I've had my first runs that make it to hades crash, and it seems that there's no way to recover my saves. None of the Temp or bak files that I have locally are functional, I'm instead prompted to choose which of my (some >7 days old) files I would like to recover from. Either way, it's odd that I'm required to manually rename files that the client should already be aware of and capable of restoring from. Is this something the team is working on?

I've lost two runs that made it past Elysium and it's incredibly frustrating and disappointing that saving state is being handled so poorly.

I wouldn't bother to vent if it wasn't still an ongoing issue. Without warning my game will decide to hang/ crash on transitions. Then everything accomplished in that run is lost, except for my steam achievements.

So far this crash has happened on loading into the river styx, loading into the hades fight, and once it has happened while alt-tabbing back into the game.

Every single crash has resulted in a full system hang.

I've verified my local files, I've tried playing in a windowed borderless mode without mouse lock. I've updated graphics drivers. What else is there to do?

The one consistant thing I can point to is that Alt-Tabbing seems to create serious performance issues and leads to an inevitable crash. If I ever want to look at a different window I am forced to completely quit the game and then re-open.

Hi, I am experiencing a problem with the Switch/Steam cross saves. When I booted up Hades on my Switch, it had inexplicably severed the connection between my Switch and my Steam account. I've logged in again and given permission for data sharing between my Switch and the Steam Cloud, but for some reason I keep getting the "Sync failed. Please check your connection" message, even though my Switch indicates full connectivity. What can I do to fix this?

That's really odd... I'd check if anti-virus didn't have anything to do with it; you can potentially try whitelisting Hades as it might've picked it up as a threat.

Hello, I started playing Hades today. It lagged a lot so I looked up on the internet and:

• set resolution to a lower one
  -added the parameters thing
  -set everything to maximum priority
  -stopped all external tasks

game now runs very smoothly and great except that it has already frozen 3 times. It's always the same, the screen of the game freezes visually but the sound keeps going and I can still use attacks, move, go to the menu...

Gladly I more or less found a way to surrender without seeing anything so I don't lose THAT much progress... but it's still really annoying

It can't be replaced, so you'd need to buy additional graphics card, but it depends on the device you have. From what I know, it's really hard to change/add anything in laptops for example. And in general, it depends on the motherboard you have. I'm no expert, though, so it's worth googling around to see what could be done in your case.

If you're using cloud saves then there shouldn't be any issues once you download the game on a new PC through Steam/Epic/Microsoft Store using the same account. Usually cloud saves are enabled by default.

The saves are also stored locally so you can do a backup of the folder just in case, and move it to your new PC.
To find that folder:
· On Windows, navigate to \Documents\Saved Games\Hades
· On macOS, use Finder’s Go > Go To Folder menu and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades

Hi guys. So, I know this question might have been asked multiple times already, but even by following the guides I'm not able to solve the problem. Basically I need to move my Game Pass save file to Steam.
I found the save file in *<User>\AppData\Local\Packages\SupergiantGamesLLC.Hades_q53c1yqmx7pha\SystemAppData\wgs\ *, changed its name to profile1.sav and copied it to My Documents\Saved Games\Hades, but when I open the game it loads the first room.
I tried putting Steam in "Offline Mode" but it didn't work.
I thought that maybe my save file could be invalid due to the fact that my Game Pass subscription expired, but honestly it doesn't make much sense.

Ok, I'm officialy an idiot. I kept renaming the file to "profile1.sav" instead of "Profile1.sav". Yeah, the problem was just a capital letter.

i updated my drivers and verified the game files and it fixed it btw

somehow i think it was the drivers. had this happen in other games, freaked out that my pc got borked

if i move my save file from epic (with all achievements) to steam will my achievements add on steam profile or i have to get all of my achievements again?

Some achievements will unlock automatically (story achievements and things that can only be done once) but some others you may need to redo
