we are determining how the make the game enjoyable, and our feedback represents a more balancing effect, sometimes picking off bugs etc etc. Playtesters are actively trying to BREAK the game. Not just, Dionysus is OP, nerf please, but "When I got to step 10 on the dionysus playtest checklist, when I used poison on X enemy while in Y position, the game crashed. I was able to repeat this 10042 our o 11054 times

its, here is this small portion of the game, Mr/Ms Playtester ID#40054, follow this procedure and checklist and meticulously write down every reaction (not your opinion, just write it down), and do this THOUSANDS of times
AAA game playtesting is usually the worst, but if you are a small but significant indie studio, I would imagine it might be even worse due to budget constraints raising the overall amount of gameplay responsibility you might have a playtester.
there is scaling though, AAA games get ripped to shreds for bugginess, but smaller dev teams bugs are considered a natural part of the evolution of their games. All games are judged by their bugginess though.
Maybe SG will chime in on that aspect, its always an interesting subject to me. I never playtested, the most involved I got in development was beta testing (one time an alpha-ish test, I barely remember the experience). But I do know people who have, and their discussions (that they can have at the time) were very interesting. Not interesting enough for me to quit my job and do that instead though lmao.

Guan Yu might get better when I play with it more, but I have too much fun with Zag and Achilles so far.

Guan Yu is only great at level 5, otherwise yes it is sucky. You learn to dodge more with it, stick to special and use other attacks only if you need to replenish health.

achilles damage boost allows your attack to actually pack a punch/your cast without risking that much if you throw a spear you can wait for enemies to throw attacks at you then dash right next to them and unleash a flurry of attacks the only thing I don't like about it is I wish the buff lasted longer than it does
While the range and animation speed is nice on zag, it still has that awkward hiccup when you retrieve it which causes a poorly timed retrieval to make yo uget hit, the damage boost isn't much of an increase either especially when you have other special increases at 60% and those weapons have higher base damage
hades requires you to charge the attack which takes a while, and has typically puny range which makes taking fast enemies from heat a terrible choice and usually that's an easy 3 heat

Achilles is good for cast builds too; it gives higher damage bonus for your casts than poseidon or eris.
I don't like the special on spear that much other than applying status; and guan yu.
Guan yu special usually is my main dps. It makes the spear fun for me.
And i agree with the hiccup. I wish that was eliminated; then i would like the spear much more. Something responsive like rail attack. It would make achilles work like i would like it to; for long range dashing.
Also; for all aspects i think the spin attack is not bad. It's a little bit too slow even with the hammer upgrade. I would be fine if spin damage was cut in half and the base chargeup time was half too.

Guan-Yu special is super strong, not only for it’s base damage and AoE, but also for the fact that it ditches the retrieval part, making it much more spammable. The spin is healing, occasionally.
Also Achilles LOVES Athena, either for the cast or the attack for spins
Quick Spin Aphro/Athena/Artemis builds are all totally viable on Guan Yu.

The full game structure is in place, the story is still pretty far-from-finished.

But the last few updates will probably be devoted to putting the story into place, so the game is very close to finished.

The balance is pretty fair the only time you have hiccups is when you mess with really high difficulties which are 1 completely optional and 2 aren't likely to be content you'd choose to experience early on into playing hades

I reflect the sentiment of @marsh jackal regarding issues in the game; most of the time not worth bickering about but technically you should since you are a beta tester now. The game is a great game; the storyline is developed well (up until where they say more content will come) and the gameplay is already the best roguelike i played.

Serrated Edge is fun but you've gotta have a good understanding of the dash distance and it's reduction to use it without getting yourself killed.

Personally not a fan of the design, feels like they cut too much emotion from the figures, I'd rather get a nendoroid of Zag. I know it turned into the repeater, but since supergiant wanted to have a weapon that you could fire whilst moving I'd like something like the orbitals from kid iccarus uprising. Like 2 turrets flying beside you and shooting where you aim. you wouldn't have to have many more animations on zagreus himself. Maybe they'd fire slower than the repeater and as special you could leave one of the turrets somewhere. It would still shoot at where you were aiming, but you could leave it somewhere and recall it for more area coverage
