Troves are the biggest source. Buy both infernal trove upgrade and look for them in your runs.
They are the giant chests where you need to kill enemies fast to get as much loot as possible

i did my 100th run, first of the new patch, guan yu + demeter focused and got all kinds of good stuff. my dash attack applied 3 stacks of chill at once (thanks to the new hammer upgrade), i had the damage-on-ten-stacks boon and the shatter-at-10%-health legendary, and the no-bloodstones-damage-boost. buncha good stuff from demmie, annihilated everything haha
and of course i had very little idea what i was getting into, that run pretty much just came together on its own

Hey, I picked the "World Smasher" upgrade for my shield which replaces the bull rush... next time I got an upgrade 2/3 of them were upgrading the Bull Rush (powershot and faster charge). The third one was not very good for what I was going for because it would remove my ability to push opponents (I want to punch them into walls). Do you think this is intentional or not?

Just a quick query, is there anything you have to do to unlock Demeter at all? I haven't seen her once so far in the runs I've done. I've only got up to the Hydra boss (and failed everytime so far)

I've been making good progress, too. Made it through the first two areas twice now, within my first 7 attempts of the game. Fell in love with the bow.
Its dash strike took me a bit to figure out though.

Dash attack is easy to figure out with the spear. When you do the swing instead of the stab with the spear, that's the dash attack. You can do that by attacking while dashing or attacking right after dashing

Suggestions/Feedback regarding single-god builds:
The game is all about RNG, but within the randomness, it expects/rewards players to do multi-deity runs. Many bonuses, such as Privileged Status and the Duo powers encourage you to take boons from more than one god. Added to that, gods only offer upgraded boons when it is to replace another god's. What if there were also incentives to try to make a single-deity build? It is already challenging because of the RNG, but if there were mechanics to balance or offer tradeoff benefits for sticking to one instead of just taking everything/anything in, that could make for some interesting builds. For example, maybe choosing a third boon from same god (and having no others') greatly increases the chances of upgrading the level? Or maybe you get an active effect of increasing the level of boons as long as you don't add other gods' boons? Maybe there's special "devoted" boons only available when only one god is used? (They could break/become inactive if you add another god's). To add to the strategic decision-making, maybe it could be possible to choose not to take a boon, just leave it on the floor, rather than forcing you to take it to move to the next chamber, in case you were trying to make the single-god build.
Also, it'd be nice to see some more rivalry between the gods. Perhaps if you choose to go single-god, other gods will be more likely to set you up or challenge you. This could also apply to chambers where there's two boons... build-wise it's great to get two boons, but it'd be cool if there's a chance (perhaps through a pact of punishment?) that the god will ignore you for the rest of the run, and if you had any of their powers, they are no longer usable.
In the long run, I don't know if this is something the devs have in mind, but it'd be awesome for it to be possible to fight all the other gods just like you fight Hades, based on your decisions, and which god got mad at you during your run.
