i bought it, not just to be able to play immediately, but to support Supergiant with making the game. They've never released a bad game in my eyes and I've purchased each game twice now, except Pyre. Once on Steam and once on Switch. If they want to branch out, I'm glad to give them $20 to continue doing what they're doing, even if it's on Epic Store. I might not buy it on Steam, but you better believe if there's a Switch version I'll be buying that as well.

I really wanted to see how Supergiant would throw these elements together, and so far, I think it is awesome. I was concerned that it would feel oppressive or overly brutal, but I find myself looking forward to trying the encounters again just as much as dying and returning to the Hades "hub."

Nice! If you've played any of the Souls game, is it comparable to that feeling of success? (And no, I'm not trying to make the 'Hades is the DS of _____' reference.) I did enjoy my intro to DS because--though repetitive and challenging--the controls were okay enough and the feeling of winning was addictive. My big concern/annoyance with rougelikes is the repetition and minor changes, but that sounds like an easy concern to overcome.

i like to keep both options open. With Pyre, I started with Kb+M and soon switched to gamepad, never looking back. Whereas Transistor, for me, plays infinitely better with Kb+M.

Bought this last night when I saw it revealed on The Game Awards, purely based on the premise, and just finished playing for the first time (spent about an hour or two), and man this game is super fun. Generally I don't much care for action roguelikes, but this one is so easy to grasp and the theme is something I adore. Love the gothic look to the art and the nobility all the characters (well, most; Skelly and Dusa are clearly intended to be more comical) exude. Most other gamedevs would probably have growly voices and tons of melodrama, and I'm so glad you went the more sophisticated route. Sorry I don't have gameplay feedback, but just had to say I'm loving this game and am looking forward to see it evolve over the development period.

Embrace the launchers. I've got Steam, Gog, and uPlay (and now Epic Games Store) one my computer. After a while, having lots of launchers just feels natural and isn't a big deal. The Epic Games Store is pretty elegant, with none of the bloat that Steam has.

If you play it a lot now, you will get to see how it evolves and have memories when certain powers/weapons/etc were popular and how the game shapes but I can also see the value of waiting. I am sitting here at work frothing at the mouth to dive in more and I was already pretty excited about the new Path of Exile release today and still need to finish Darksiders III 😂

Ther's definitely something to be said for enjoying that first pre-feedback version of the game. Personally I enjoyed Darkest Dungeon about six bajillion times more in its initial SEA version than I did when it was "finished."

You can also surge into enemies instead of using it like a dodge and cause hitstun, you can also attack out of it to end it early. On its own it can be annoying to pilot but cancelling it can make it strong I found.
