general rule of thumb is if the weapon attacks quick, use a boon that introduces a new form of damage such as zeus lightning or dio hangover
if it attacks slowly, use percentage (mainly aphro/artemis)

Yeah I've been using fists with zeus and the sheild with doom special throw

Barge just pretty much automatically adds 40-60 seconds to your run, asterius miniboss in elysium, not being able to handle the teleporting miniboss in tartarus or witches well, getting anything beyond a 2sack / hitting the tiny vermin miniboss

Usually you want to swap to a second god you want to force in for asphodel, and usually you’ll have at least one

for me what worked on my first clear was using the coin purse from hypnos at the start
probably not the best idea (in fact god keepsakes are better) but maybe you could try it in asphodel? once youre able to consistently beat theseus and asterius also go another keepsake in elysium that can help out
final thing, you may have seen an npc called eurydice whos keepsake is better than the tooth most of the time. id reccomend levelling that up and using it for the final area

Like zeus strike on any of the fists really benefits from having say aphro on special to hit smouldering air with zeus or dionysus call

oh yeah, and learn the build you want well

especially if thre are any central duo boons

or tidal dash for dps / divine dash for defensive utility

which all of those options are powerful enough that you’d want to go out of your way to force them into your godpool to get them

I usually go for divine dash so you think I should force more boons that way to be able to clear the run if I'm unlucky

also for godpool:
basically after the game shows you 4 (it might be 5 i forgot) different gods, it cant show you any new ones and just gives boons from the ones in your 'pool.' hermes is exempt from this rule and you generally get two of his boons before styx

so you want to use a god keepsake to put them in the pool

after you take boons from 4 regular olympians (so not hermes and not chaos)

hmm i think 2 changes that would help are cthonic vitality>dark regen and thick skin>high confidence
honestly you could go with dark regen since you get a lot of darkness after every boss, but you also get a fountain. cthonic is much more consistent
high confidence is only used with speedruns, as most of the run you arent above 80% anyway. thick skin is much better, providing much more insurance at the start and also giving more hp overall plus for things like death defiances

Dark regen and high confidence are the only big glaring things. If you aren’t using your cast that often for damage you could switch to stygian soul for bery slightly better hermes odds

It pulls up the block and charges with the speed of the default shield (main point) and pierces shields

and has significantly higher base damage no matter of much you charge it and it’s going to be best spammed in melee range anyhow

My first advice is just play like usual for a while as you advance as many characters as possible.
Do some Speedrunning/high heat to distract yourself

Trying to grind the bonds will wear you down super fast when dialogue refuses to show up

If you don't care then at least optimize it by playing without defiances and turn on the trap dmg pact so you can step on magma to die fast

• beating the first boss for the first time with a weapon will net you one blood.
• final boss drops another + after that you unlock the best way to farm blood.
  other sources:
  trading for it at the lounge:
• 1 ambrosia for 1 T.blood is always there.
• 15 keys for 1 blood which is super good
• list of minor prophecies.
• Charon may sell one blood for 1200 gold at the last area shop

Tbf the spear tends to be really hammer-dependent for strength especially compared to the rail

where with rail, the big hammers make your special into a more potent burst option, and your strike is always a solid option. In contrast, spear really needs hammers like flurry jab, or explosive launcher + charged skewer for solid dps

Use your fastest weapon/that's easy to fit poseidon into and just speedrun basically

so you can probably double dash if you notice youre in lava after your first dash

And I'm pretty sure that once you own everything, you get the option to buy new, special things, but I haven't gotten there yet

Some furniture is also required to get other pieces
