Zag shield bonus is not generally considered very useful, but something like Zeus shield will perform quite well at low blood levels

It’s tricky because of the shield. And Minotaur rushing at me is hard to evade without Hermes additional dashing.

Try to take asterius down first before fightning theseus. You want to keep the pillars between you and theseus to block the spear. Asterius attacks can generally be avoided by dashing behind him

After theseus does a melee attack he'll sit there for a couple seconds and you can wack him. You just need to use your dash to get behind him in general

hi guys I have a question for Hades 1. For the penalty agreement, do I have to do a run with +1 heat every time? in the sense that if I directly do a high heat I don't accomplish anything, as long as I have to do the previous ones.

No, you can scale up or down heat as you please. If you however beat a heat run, the rewards for that specific heat amount will be taken, but even with the rewards taken you could redo it. If you go like +5 heat, you only get the rewards for +5 heat, but +4 heat will still have rewards.

So if you are at 2, skip to 5 and win, you get rewards for 3 heat

Do it again and you claim 4 heat then again till it catches to 5

Most just finish up their storyline

Styx Hermes gives me a third chance at it, or if I already have it, I can try to get Greater Haste for more bonus movespeed.

Aside from that, dodge chance is nice if you miss out on what you’re looking for.

Hermes boons typically won’t make or break your Hades fight in a vacuum. If you’re getting yoinked by Hades during your dash cooldown, you may have to be a bit more mindful of when you dash

I’m surprised people prefer acorn more than tooth. You get hit a lot in the hades fight and sometimes it feels like it’s not something you can even control when you get hit during dash CD.

Here's some general advice that I stole from @lavish sorrel

For the minotaur running use the walls! Collision tends to be less of a scam on them.
When he charges at you, wait until the last moment before the Asterius bumps into zagreus, then dash. The minotaur's steering angle should in that case never be steep enough to miss the wall.
Some of bull-man's moveset might also be worth noting, as he has a few attacks that look quite similar:
Jump -> jump -> jump -> slow swipe
Slow Swipe -> slow swipe -> jump -> fakeout-swipe the other way
In phase 2 and after phase-transitions, he can sometimes do jump -> walk to zagreus -> slow swipe... not sure why, but he can.
He and theseus will only charge up a bullhorn if the two have touched each other in the current fight (the flag is of course set back to false the moment the attack has been performed).

In phase 2, he gains the ability to perform slow swing -> axe-backswing, and will axe-backswing after ending every rush.

Theseus only spins if you're really, like REALLY close to him when he picks his attack. As was suggested, baiting out this spin is a good idea as it does not force you to get way out of striking distance before theseus uses an attack.

My exact problem. I can’t get through Thesus without wasting a DD. Now I have to rely on RNG to find the Cerberus thing which can waste another DD then boom I just get nuked by 2nd stage hades. Really really frustrating.

For me, the Temple of Styx was way harder than the Theseus fight. The poison is a killer if you aren't ready for it

It's the real test for how well your build can bum-rush a fight. If you can end the fight in less than 10 seconds, the poison doesn't even really matter

Those giant rats in the Temple of Styx. Don't let them cover everything in poison. They should be your #1 kill target. The Satyrs you can avoid by just frequently dodging (though they are also important to kill because they can snipe you from across the map)

I dodge away when I’m not prepared for his startup. I dash into the back of him when he jumps. And the purple attack gets me if I’m not positioned well enough

I changed death defiance for stubborn defiance, so I would stop relying on the DDs too much for the Hades fight

I think it was the right choice

It forced me to be a lot more careful when fighing Hades, and actually learning the moveset, instead of facetanking the attacks

I was stuck on the Theseus fight for a long time, but eventually it just clicked. I now kill Theseus before Asterius because of how annoying he is

Ah that’s a great way to train tbh. I don’t feel like I’m worthy of approaching the boss. The Elysium NPC tends to replenish my failures so I cheat my way over to Styx.

There are times I felt like I was relying too much on DD’s. It felt like it was a no brainer to not take off lucky tooth. Had to force myself to not use it to explore the catalog.

And yeah Acorn is good but it doesn’t matter if you can’t make good decisions movement wise. I’ll still use it though.

I’ll prioritize diamond/nectar farming for the time being. Maybe I make a breakthrough eventually.

actually just came back to this. If you want to really max out your odds of getting zeus, you’re better off getting boons from 4 different gods (including Zeus, and excluding Hermes/Chaos). Once you have 4 gods in your god pool, the game will stop showing you new gods, so your zeus odds go from 1/7 ||or 1/8||-> 1/4 (or whatever size your god pool is if you got extra gods thru extraordinary circumstances)
