here's the thing: the basic exagryph we get isn't the one the gods (or more specifically, hestia) used in the titanomachy. to really imagine what that exagryph must have been like, we'd have to imagine something at least as powerful as an endgame optimal rail build; something boosted to incredible levels by a god's power, with bullets that could shred through even the strongest armor and explosives that could vaporize everything caught in its wake. even the "aspect of hestia" we get in the game doesn't even come close to it; it's just a faint reflection of what it must really been like in the war against the titans.
the exagryph we get is just a blueprint, in essence; a skeleton, a basic idea of what the rail can be. what the gods fear isn't a peashooter with a grenade launcher attached in of itself; they fear the potential of it, the sheer amount of destruction it can cause if built up to its full capability. and as we can see from both in-game builds and from modern-day weaponry, their fears are well founded.
