I probably should've been more clear when I said equation, sorryāyou're correct on that front. I had been thinking about more complex algorithms, which could be "wrong" in the sense of not giving the desired output, but still giving a valid output.
I disagree that art is always subjective though, because you can create objective metrics for it. The metrics might be arbitrary, but they still allow you to look at art objectively. I do agree that there's still always a subjective element to art, even when viewed objectively

Mathematics, at least modern mathematics, is built on sets of axioms, or a set of rules given without proof. An example of an axiom is that we can always draw a line through 2 points. But the selection of those axioms can be argued to be subjective.

Using vim is a fair choice, unless you're used to IDE niceties. You can get mad APM, but you don't get the autocompletion niceties (unless you add some plugin)

If you're proficient at Sublime, then consider sticking to it (for writing the code)
For compiling you could use a terminal and gcc in a tab, then use another for running the program (just press Up then Enter).
This assumes you're using Linux. I've no idea how you'd do that on Windows
But there are compilers you can run on cmd, so that's an option...but there must be friendlier ones somewhere :|

Thus, you could have a cygwin terminal open in your work folder, then make your code file on Sublime, and switch to Cyg to compile (using gcc)
This workflow is a bit archaic, but it'll mean you'd be comfortable if you have to work on a server one day.
But before committing it'd be good to hear out any other opinion we might get from the fine people around here

2) a != 0, b = 0, c = 0
3) a = 0, b != 0, c != 0
4) discriminant < 0
5) discriminant = 0
6) otherwise, do general formula
Plus note that the 5th case is not as easy at it looks, since comparing floats is not as easy as comparing ints...

I want to clarify something important. I use old words, and I love old language and books, and I spent a lot of time in particular researching etymology. However, all of this has to be greeted by the NEW. ALWAYS. If you don't speak with new words, your thoughts are old.
You can re-orient your thoughts with new language and new names. If you spend most of your time speaking in antiquated dialect, you're rooted firmly in the past. Lost. I like to invent new names and concepts every single day, to illustrate and further discern new potential truths.
