When sleepwalkers are doing their thing, are they coherent in the sense of; can they see their surroundings enough to dodge things like chairs and tables in the way? Or do they just base where they go and what they do off things they've done whilst in the sleepwalk state?

they are not conscious, so they wouldn't "see" their surroundings. But humans have very good spatial memory, so without doing more than a quick search, I imagine that's what they use
