This thread... the reasoning described does sound like ADD/ADHD to me, but it's not a personality trait that is exclusive to ADHD, by a long shot.
I have a friend who does the same and has BPD, not ADHD. Different reasons for similar behavior.
this thread came at my adhd self hard tbh
Part of the reason I'm an anti-natalist is because I've got ADHD, depression, and anxiety and I did none of these things to myself.
Also possibly autistic, but between being the quiet middle child with a raging hand grenade of a youngest sibling, a lot of my issues were passed because I was quiet in class and at home.
So now I'm like 60% non-functional as an adult. It's great and doesn't make me hate being alive at all.
Thanks, Kam.
it can be a real treading water to try and function, i know 😔
i'm in a similar boat. the good thing is that functioning is a learned skill, so we can all grow and improve
See the thing is, I do have issues with sitting still (or sitting in general, I kinda hate it) or focusing on one thing exclusively
But I chalked that up to me having been engulfed in the internet too much, to the point where I need a barrage of information or I get bored
But it could be ADHD
I should check that at some point
is there a dedicated channel where I can report bugs I find ?
press f10 ingame
ah thanks
there i corrected it
keep getting asterius stuck in the lower right pillar and he doesnt respond
figured might as well report it
also wtf is up with this chat ? circle jerk of complaining and victim mentality
Djee this is off-topic, people are allowed to find encouragement from others.
but that's not encouragement the one guy just said he literally wants to kill himself
that person needs help
like medical help
Uh, no one said that 🤔
"So now I'm like 60% non-functional as an adult. It's great and doesn't make me hate being alive at all." that's how i interpret it
atleast
hating being alive is akin to suicidal thoughts
That's called "overreading"
Also, wow, dude. And I thought I was rude and inconsiderate.
Let's move on from this, folks. While this is off topic and people are allowed to find support and encouragement, it's also not the place to offer or suggest medical advice.
yeah might as well
If you feel genuinely concerned about a user, please don't hesitate to message me in the future, but this is not the appropriate place to make judgements about what others have to do for their health.
Also damn, I feel like my german got worse to the point where I wouldnt feel confident applying as a community translator
And I still live in germany
Like just the sentence "In the name of someone very sore right now"
I have no idea how you would translate that to german
I don't know how I would translate that into my native language either, without making it sound super awkward
I mean the "in the name of" part still kinda works
But the second part really doesnt flow
Surely there's a German word for "Someone who is very crotchety/sore about something right at this moment."
It's the language for goofy oddly-specific words like such.
Shockingly, no, I cant think of such a word
Now's the time, be the change you want to see in the world.
@hasty kernel I read your name as UN Oven a lot by mistake, on another note
Great. Now the concept of Flandre Scarlet as an oven haunts me.
Instinctively I would translate it as "Im Namen von Jemandem dem Alles weh tut"
Which is something along the lines of "In the name of someone for whom everything hurts"
It does however slightly miss the meaning
Also its not a Touhou reference, its an Agatha Christie reference
I didnt even know Touhou at the time I chose my username
Well, it still evokes the notion of a touhou as an oven
I didn't know "Flandre Scarlet" at first glance, so something tells me you've had this conversation before.
Yes. Yes I have
More times than I can count
I think 2 people asked me if it was an Agatha Christie reference
I was so happy when they did
Alternatively, a murder mystery where the culprit is an oven.
The point was, I keep misreading it as oven.
Like, a sentient oven?
Well technically this version would be pronounced as Ovven
Or Oven
So yknow, fair point
Anyway I should read more in german
Before I lose all prowess of the language
I mean, maybe. It could be alive. Or just left on way too long.
PSA: the Outer Wilds soundtrack is on Spotify
I've never played Outer Wilds but I do listen to the OST on youtube and I have to say, it's one of the top tier music
very relaxing and cozy
Absolutely my game of the year for 2019
My only problem with it is that I can't play it again fresh
Same
Its one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences
Like Transistor
And yeah the OST is great
Both in its soothing nature, and in the more anxious panicked tones as you approach 21 minutes
So, how do Australians survive the summer? My friend said “just like that” but like, do you have tricks??
30-50 Celsius with 50-80% humidity
If it’s just cold it’s possible to wear more or use heating but how do you live in what’s basically a steamer?
30 to 35 isn't too bad, anything above 40 is stay inside where the air con is
the humidity varies quite a lot, some days it's manageable others it's the worst and cold showers don't do anything to help
but in short air con is kinda a must during summer or death happens
the humidity is particularly bad today because we've just have a few days of nonstop rain
Philippines here. 100% humidity gang
On cooler days fans and light clothing plus staying away from sunlight
Oof
How hot does it get up there?
yeah, I've heard in Darwin you have a shower, as soon as you walk outside you need a shower again it's that humid
We're basically having tropical winter here
As you go up it gets hotter and wetter, as you go south it's cooler and drier
Tasmania is pretty mild
It's also pretty dry around adelaide even in hotter weather
It also gets hotter and drier as you go inland
So around alice springs will often be 40 to 50 C
There's some weird microclimate shenanigans in sydney too
Tasmania is pretty nice :3
Where it's 5 degrees hotter on the west side compared to the east
yeah, the coast has a lot of things affecting its weather so it makes it incredibly hard to accurately predict anything more than 3 days of weather for it
The best way to describe Metro Manila weather most days: Urban heat archipelago
So, guys, do you want -10 C° or less temperature with big amount of snow and heavy gusts of wind?
Can share
Ideally we would go halfsies
But I'd prefer it as someone who's fairly cold tolerant
I am cold tolerant too, but I much hate how runny my noise gets
Or how I have to wear gloves outside.
is it because minus 10 Celcius isn't cold enough to remove most cold germs or because it's just the coldness to make your nose dry and cold so your body tries to heat it up and hydrate the nose?
Ori and the Blind Forest for Lots% off, Dead Cells for 30% off, worth picking up now?
Second probably. Because indoors I usually rarely sneeze unless it's spring or Autumn.
at least cold and dry means cotton is a viable insulation
man DMC5 is also on sale for reasonably cheap
i quit ori at the second dungeon (frustrating....) but i can recognize it's objectively well made, felis
I finished it once, I think before deluxening
just thinking of actually supporting the devs properly this time now I have the means to
ok
I updated discord and now discord give me a desktop notification on every single server I am in for every single message people send
I turned off everything, message notification, desktop pop up
it still does it
please help
Neat. Steam has soundtracks on sale now.
A great time to pick up, say... the Supergiant soundtrack collection c:
;>
those are lomg cats
very loong
one of these cats tells the truth the other only lies
whew. I have... $80 worth of game soundtracks and DMC5 in my cart
and Dead Cells and Ori

should I do it...
what soundtracks??
well, DMC5, Doom, Dead Cells, Ori, Hat in Time, and Supergiant: All the Things
go ahead! Big boy sales are away from right now, so I think why not.
Man, I wonder why Transistor Extended isn't in the soundtrack list though?
it might count as a dlc?
Oh, it was just snuck in unofficially as a free update to soundtrack owners
Just... it hasn't been converted to Steam's new soundtrack format yet
Ah right. I also have Hollow Knight and Monster Hunter World soundtracks.
yeah
That's... an unholy amount of music
the hollow knight soundtrack is so good though
christopher larkin really goes off
Roguelites... well, Children of Morta is Hadeslike but slower. Dead Cells is on sale right now o'clock and has many fans.
Rogue Legacy, the old school classic, still pretty good
I love this game - Anyone got recommendations for more roguelikes/lites?
I like Dungeon of the Endless, turn based ish, not for everyone but it's fun
By this game you mean hades and not one of the other three?
it's less of a combat game and more of survival
I would say it's more lite than like, since in like the progression is very little between runs as for the games to play, here is a link to the previous time I have recommended. https://discordapp.com/channels/456889434672201729/461234513427562517/673755484104425493
classic roguelike style - Tangledeep, Tales of Maj' Eyal
oh man, another person who played Flame in the flood.
Crying Suns, but it's basically FTL, but you control a fleet instead of one ship.
I've played RoR and FTL, Enter the Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, RoR2
@north hamlet sorry yeah, Hades
Although I have also played a bit of Bastion
i've just started flame in the flood! i like it so far
post apocalyptic americana is good
Anyone played Dead Cells?
good luck dealing with all the diseases and animals!
Wondering if I should pull the trigger or not
Yes I have, but I never gone through a successful run beyond zero cells. :/
Was it worth
it is, but if you are up to play the game, expect it to be quite heavy on platforming and 2D fighting, it needs a precise timing and strategizing, part of it is also like in Hades, you buy upgrades by clearing zones and then spending the cells thingy in shop, however, if you die, you don't get the stuff back, you need to redeem them at checkpoints.
Though honestly Flames in the Flood is good, but do I wish the river system wasn't so annoyingly scary when controlling it.
Well, is it significantly harder than Hades...
definitely harder I suppose? Honestly depends what weapons you also run (yes there is this one thing about it that it has its own thing with weapons) though if I am not wrong there are mods out in steam workshop for easier experience.
I've played Dead Cells. It's super good. Got quite far as well. Might pick it up again
I'm personally fond of the roguelites crypt of the necrodancer, heroes of hammerwatch and one way heroics
Oh yeah, Necrodancer!
Hard if you're bad at timing like me, but great, and amazing soundtrack
On another note, not roguelike/lite at all, but should I get DMC5
Heroes of hammerwatch is probably closest to hades of the three
The roguelite that makes me think of Hades the most is Forced Showdown
Also tied with Asura
I'll say you lose just a little from DMC5's story without having played 3 and 4, but it's arguably the best hack'n'slash ever made.
I loved dmc4
Its great and run on my low-end pc at 60fps
god, I would love if Hades had style indicator huh
Opening movie for Haven by The Game Bakers
They escaped to a lost planet to be together.
A RPG adventure about love and freedom.
To play solo or co-op with a special someone.
Coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox in 2020.
Wishlist on Steam: https://store.steampo...
I'm in love ❤️
Haven looks so cute
I sure hope it stays the Public Display of Affection: The Game all the way
i'd like it better if it were mlm hahah but i definitely plan on picking it up
I'd like it better if they are literally two lovebirds
I saw the demo video and they are hella cute, they can shield each other and attack together, and there's cooking elements beside the RPG and... gliding?
and the relationship seems so healthy
The couple vs The stranger
I am their fury, I am their patience
I am a conversation
@fringe sparrow oh I'm sure people have commented on Zag and/or Than and Meg's... smokin' sexy style before
yess sol i saw that when i played the demo
i'm always a sucker for a good cooking minigame
That rpg somewhat reminds me of romancelike? Roguemance? Basically was a little game where you share a controller with someone and play through the game by cooperating with the move set and thinking through each other's decision. Very small game, but very good none the less.
aw, that does sound interesting
Came out like 3 years ago on Valentine's Day for 2-3 dollars I think.
damn, nice
It's only problem I suppose is how it's stretched and doesn't have many varieties and replayability, but I suppose the stretch was done for balance purposes and so that people couldn't just buy and the refund the game after doing one full run. Dunno honestly.
ah yes, the classic steam short game exploit
🧀
Anyone know how I can launch Steam games from my Desktop without actually opening Steam?
I'd love to play Dead Cells without this bloatware, but it's just not as sleek as the EGS.
Uh... EGS sleek?
Yeah, I buy my game, update it once in a blue moon, and never touch it besides.
Steam and Origin won't let me run their games without opening them.
that's not sleek, that's avoidable clunk.
Can go offline mode, but that's all that you can do I think. Don't know any other means.
I'm being partially facetious because I think elitism about launchers is absolutely absurd, but I'd actually like to run my games without opening the launcher.
Thank you, @sudden torrent
That will just practically disable it however. It will still run, just at lowest amount.
The first line was facetious, and I wasn't attacking you specifically.
Remember when Steam was a lightweight godsdamn native app?
No, actually. It's been clunky ever since I started gaming on PC in 2013.
I mean clunky to navigate yeah. But it didn't consume nearly as many system resources back when it wasn't rendering 80% of the UI as a webpage.
So, what, it's intentional design flaw that makes it run poorly?
No, it's laziness and ineptitude
App developers code in Chromium because it's braindead easy.
But, as the million memes about Chrome can attest, Chromium as a platform is a disgusting resource hog.
So, yes, EGS is more sleek currently. Less features, maybe, but so much less clunk that it's made a difference in my gaming experience.
The thing is, EGS is coded the same way.
And yet it lets me play my games without having it execute.
Honestly, I did wish Steam wasn't so heavy to say the least, but not really a problem for me, for now. Has EGS yet released a 2FA or what was the name of function? Because that's what keeps me away from it mostly I suppose.
The only advantage is not having to run it, yes
That's all I use Steam for.
as I said: Avoidable clunk
I'm missing your point, apparently.
I use Steam to play games, and its inability to let me play them without hogging resources is an issue for me.
EGS lets me play my games without hogging resources.
Egs does have 2fa now @sudden torrent
Oh cool. May try it out
It does have no drm and free games
Yeah, that does not make it a sleek program
If that helps with any other security concerns
That makes it a bloated program that doesn't have to run in the background, which I suppose is an upside
That said, if you close down Steam and set your friend list to offline and close THAT window, it helps significantly.
It kinda has the same effect, so it's something
Yeah, so less sleek. Takes more steps to get where I'm trying to go.
The new friends thing is pretty wasteful when most people use discord on the side
Alright, thanks, @sudden torrent, guess I'll just keep dealing for now.
Nice as it is
Saying it's sleek implies the launcher itself is coded well, though.
Completely different
No it doesn't.
I means it works more smoothly.
Stop putting words in my mouth to fit your ideas. Please.
I asked for help with a technical problem and then you butted in to correct my language.
Holy crap.
Okay, if you're that easily offended, feel free to ignore the suggestion I made which also actively cuts down on the program's resource use, just to pursue your excuse to get mad.
My only concern could be though the "selling data" part that been running around but never fully explained to me properly with some stuff, but I suppose since it wasn't said in a while it's not much of concern or really not truthful at least fully.
Well, everyone sells data nowadays.
Only way to avoid that is to have no accounts.
My only concern is Epic Games' business practices, its particularly underhanded way of securing exclusives.
Big upfront paychecks?
Don't really care about anything else, it's just objectively as badly coded as Steam otherwise, and the China scare is mostly just racism.
Upfront paychecks, refusing to carry indie games that DON'T take the exclusivity deal, and bulldozing over Kickstarter promises to have Steam keys.
You've got me on the last one, I didn't know about that.
Supergiant is one of the few devs who are unequivocally in the clear
Because they didn't go back on any promise, they were launching on EGS from the start.
👌
But, #2: DARQ's dev was offered exclusivity. He said no, and asked if he could launch his game non-exclusively. He was refused, despite the company taking on high profile games cross-platform.
"Take the deal or your game isn't on our store" isn't a cushy deal for devs, that's strong-arming.
It's one storefront.
The latter? Uh. Lots. Many many games.
Shenmue 3...
is just the most pathetic, because it's an overfunded piece of trash
"Take the deal or your game doesn't launch" is strongarming.
but also, stuff like Metro Exodus being preorder on steam and yoinking out
I mean, it's a lesser degree, but it is still blatantly unfair
Because clearly they have no issue carrying other games non-exclusively
Other games have more market power.
I'm not looking to steal people's shirts out from them, but if I were to run a business I would want to make money.
This isn't any different from Sony paying for Bloodborne exclusivity, but we all still played it when we could.
They'd still... make money, though
They don't lose money from signing a normal deal to sell a game
also, console exclusivity is a horrible practice.
If they want to prioritize curation for bigger draws, that's their business prerogative.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Games aren't entitled to sell on every launcher, and again, I want to emphasize that it's a separate launcher on the same system.
I don't think it's aboveboard. It's legal, but it's not fair play
It wasn't like myself buying a Switch to play Mario Kart.
I installed another singular program to get access to Hades.
Alright suppose will go EGS for the games then, It's been really hard for me to consider it actually viable due to how hard hitting were the "EGS is bad" stuff back in the day, been lacking a proper explanation and view on it.Though I have been thinking the EGS hate was getting tiring after the summer definitely. Thanks for the discussion on it.
Thank you.
At the time Hades came out though it didn't have regional pricing - not an option for me.
I don't have any hateboner nonsense for it
I just don't like them, personally, as a corporation
No corporation is good.
I seen people there and there saying some stuff about how EGS was good, but I wasn't really convinced due to that mob feeling I have possible gotten carried over or the fact the people who have been saying good things about it quite frankly one time weren't exactly so good with their words or were as mean as the egs hate discussion stuff.
Well, that was a very obvious statement to make
not you, schpoon's "corpos bad" is pretty water-is-wet
Your unspoken defense of Steam in the same sentence is pretty damning.
I say come to your own conclusions by using either one
"unspoken defense"
see, you're reading things that aren't there into everything I say again
Steam is okay by your own usage of them, but the EGS isn't.
oh, well still. I get that a lot that I say pretty obvious stuff.
Going on mob mentality will make you miss out on many things based on fear
They've both got their problems.
@earnest pier I don't really care for mob opinions.
I thought the overblown rage against the Epic store was... thoroughly pointless.
hey now, obvious or not, reiterated points have their place. As for EGS, it has many problems to solve and a competitive mature market to enter, but the support it offers developers to get off the ground with new products is something we all benefit from in the long run.
True true, I really do think that's the beauty of their deals is they are able to help games get a running start
@chilly briar Their place is not assuming someone said something they didn't and arguing against that.
Yeah definitely, previously I just didn't feel like it was mob feeling, but like after it gone to ridiculous stuff I just became very apparent of it.
For someone who claims to hate having words put in their mouth...
This entire discussion was spurred from "EGS does something better than Steam, can I improve Steam to work like that?" and I had to get around "How dare you praise the EGS" to get technical advice.
There is definitely a large group of people that are strongly against EGS and the exclusivity, but it's a small price to pay for helping these things grow, and in most cases the titles spread to other platforms after the timed exclusivity is up anyway.
I feel like the words I am putting on the screen are completely different from the words you are reading.
But it just feels bad to wait
i want gaems now
valid
I say what I mean, and mean what I say. I don't screw around with such nonsense insinuations.
Okay, what part of the conversation did I say "how dare you praise EGS" in?
Quote it.
Right now.
I admit I escalated, but it took a third person entering the conversation to turn it back to technical advice.
I GAVE you technical advice for making Steam less bollocks.
You ignored it to attack me again.
just agree to disagree and talk about what really matters...who the best romance partner in mass effect 2 is
I hear a huge lack of Jack romance in your words
I should really play mass effect
definitely the big buff alien.
That hair though
Thane was pretty ok
Liara's alright but
basically like going back to college
See, I was kinda mad, and still am, that you're not allowed to threesome Tali and Garrus.
I mean, if you don't date them they date each other.
So why not...?
Liara's story is much more fun to watch when you are not committed to her
(Thanks, Hades)
It would have been significantly funnier for the Shadow Broker to be a dog. That is to say, a Shadow Borker
I will say I should have picked Kaidan over Ashley, cause man does her racism just feel so out of place in the rest of the games
In the first game yeah, but he gets way better in 3
I think she gets better if you actually go through her arc.
...Carth?
Carth Onasi.
Wasn't sure if it was Carth or someone else.
on that note, Visas Marr best girl
ah crap I just realized KotOR II also had that problem of "Handmaiden versus Disciple"
And that one wasn't even the damn Bioware one
🧂
🌶️
spicy
Spicy stuff
🧂 & 🌶️
🔥
I say both
RIP I said the lexical bundle backwards
smh my head, not having a pepper emote
I like my dinner spicy and salty.
Hm?
I grow ghost chillies
Oof
Who says pepper and salt?
Mad man
speaking of, my least favorite lexical bundle is "women and children"
and meanwhile I am growing coffee bean tree.
it's a tree??? I always thought it was a vine
🅱️eans
well it is a vine
🅱️ig
☕ eans
So you're doing it for the vine?
eee
coffee beans tree does sound bizarre, but thankfully I know when to correct myself.
I did own a lemon tree though too!
we have a... sadly overgrown oregano plant
but I kind of failed with the lemon tree, so I had to let it go.
kinda feel bad for it, but no one has time to trim it all off right now
mean it did grow lemons, but not great ones.
lemon trees are hard to get started but once established are usually pretty good
When life gives you lemons, make life take the lemons back
they need soooo much water
GET MAD.
I should replay portal 2
MAKE LIFE RUE THE DAY
still need to finish co-op with partner
lot of achievements to farm out
lot of amusing ways to yeet each other into the death acid
Man the best bit of Portal 2 co-op was standing on those buttons that activated the panels and infinitely slamming your friends into walls
donk
y'all are EVIL

what game should I be bad at next?
yes
I just got Ori and the Blind Forest and Dead Cells
We also used to steal the laser from each other and shoot each other
do I go and just figure out if I'm too bad to keep dad cells
...dad cells
that sounds like a hades crossover

I do have a few single player games I need to run through
At least I now have warframe cosplays, so even when I'm not playing Hades, I can play Hades. 4Head
I am like 17% from 100% Far Cry 4
well, that's not exactly a far cry from completing it fully

100%ing Ubisoft games is infuriating though.
Just... ugh.
The obsessive collector in me wants to do it, every other part hates that it's even a thing
Well they make the process of it somewhat worth it since certain guns are only available if you do a majority of the side stuff
Yeah, it's just that the Ubi formula of SO MUCH BUSYWORK is psychologically designed to screw me over
I think only Far Cry was successful at least making it fun.
remember trying to 100% Assasian Creeds 2 on PS3.
Oh god
(not bloody AC3 which was half tutorial)
Feathers for days
Never touched MP
yes I remember its existence
Black Flag was fun but i think that's because of the pirate aesthetic for me
And yet, it had the rope dart, the single most fun tool in the series
yeah same degen
pirates good
Getting upgrades by exploring was hella fun
I think only thing that generally didn't stick well with black flag is the ship stealth missions
like
most days when I grind out side stuff I was listening to podcasts
who came up with such
rofl yeah why does a ship have to sneak
helped me catch up on ones i wouldn't have other wise
You know what kinda open world with collectibles was super fun?
Okami
(Capcom knows it. They milk that game to death)
sadly since Clover's demise and Capcom's continued ownership of the IP, Platinum Games can't make a sequel.
what's the gameplay like on okami? it's one of those big indie games i haven't played
Zeldaish
amusingly not indie, it was made by a Capcom subsidiary that dissolved and reformed independently as Platinum (Clover Studios)
It's like Zelda, but with a magic paintbrush, and you're a wolf
and also the sun goddess
Lots of ways to mix up combat with different weapon types, RPG elements, exploration and discovery
little puzzles everywhere, like 80% of the world is interactive in some way with your powers, collectibles and things.
style kills exist, other fun stuff
hahah is zeldalike a genre now? i wasn't aware
Yeah, it's like, the Dark Souls of Zelda, you know? /s
Hmm. Dead Cells... died at 113 minutes in game, but like 50 of that was paused.
Do I keep it...
It's fun to start with but man am I bad at it.
Anyone knows any interesting SP game coming soonish?
I'd unironically support that term
With so many delays its impossible to keep track
Also yeah, if I had an euro for each time someone compared a game to Dark Souls
I prefer Doofensteins.
🎵 Doofensteins Evil Incorporated🎵
i'm an american, can i also get a euro every time someone compares a game to dark souls? that's better than getting a dollar
@fervent zenith what kind of games do you like/are you looking for? i might have some recs
Anything with a good plot
a gamer after my own heart. lemme look through my wishlist
upcoming releases or released titles?
I'm in the Philippines, can I get a whole-ass euro for that too
worth a lot in excahnge
So I want to ply games I literally couldnt before
ooh nice
Buy hades again 4head
2017 up
well, have you played hollow knight? play hollow knight
the HD Okami is technically 2018 or 19 rerelease
firewatch, mutazione, the gardens between, katana zero,
Man, I play games released in the last two years so infrequently.
samorost 3 is 2016 but it was just recommended to me and it looks beautiful,
yessss mutazione is a Good game
Yakuza
!!! luna: the shadow dust releases TODAY so i'm going to buy and play that
Yakuza is a beat-em up right?
GORGEOUS looking point and click
i haven't played disco elysium but apparently that's very good
florence also comes out/came out today
'this game is planned to unlock in approximately five hours'
VA-11 Hall A comes very often recommended, I have it but haven't played it...
Sexy Brutale likewise
ooh yes, heard sexy brutale is also good
the shovel knight series got updated in that time period, those are all great games if you want better-than-retro retro style platformers
like the most recent game came out this last december
those come highly recommended from me, i'm watching my brother play the third one right now
Most of my games are older.
That, and lately I've just been getting recs via Can You Pet The Dog
heheheh
my wishlist is so full.........oof
lightmatter just came out but i played the free demo and didn't find my enjoyment outranked my need to take dramamine
always have to factor that one in with 3d games
https://twitter.com/CanYouPetTheDog/status/1218201001687207938 man, now this is a throwback

okami content is always good
You know what I want to see?
A pirate game where the captain is a seal
A grumpy seal.
In other words, a salty sea dog.

should I worry if I during my nap I encountered a bug in Hades?
@tardy ore sorry I’m a bit late, but I deleted the wolfendoom twitter link because that picture had swears in it! Please don’t post images with swears, as we keep a clean language in the server
oh right. I forgot about that.
also, are we recommending games?
because hey..... pathologic 2 has a GOOD plot...... and it’s also on gamepass if that’s relevant to you
it’s called that but it’s not actually a sequel but a remake, so you can play it without any previous knowledge of pathologic
That is such a weird name
also, you can report bugs with F10 @sudden torrent! You might want to visit #h1-tech-support
no no, I didn't encounter a bug in game, I encountered a made up bug in my own head during a sleep.
yeahh it is. I am pretty sure tinybuild made the devs change the name to that from just “pathologic” which caused tons of confusion.. which is just one way they messed it up for them. They didn’t market it at all, people didn’t even know the game came out.
ahhhh...
in a dream.....
yeeah
I did have game related dreams, but never a dream where I encounter an actual visual/gameplay bug.
I’ve played way more of the original game than I have of the remake but what I’ve seen is amazing, and I keep shilling bc the publisher did the devs dirty and I want to see people support the studio so they can keep working on it
I seen the reviews and analyses on the game, hell even seen it get a promotion way back from one of the russian gaming tv channel (yes we have those for whatever, but it's helpful one at that suppose, it talks about some interesting indies time to time), but after hearing that they were done dirty I tried to recommend it to others during autumn but kind of failed since no one was into horror really or survival stuff to even consider the game. :/
I am thinking on maybe manning up and trying out the game myself, my only really worry for Pathologic 2 is if I am good enough at trying out the way it is intended and actually play through the game fully as it is right now, because the game just sounds so niche and yet new, I can't let myself pass up on that.
The problem now is that shovelware has bcome so prevalent the good titles get drowned in mountains of bettle dung
I'm late but Disco Elysium is extremely good and I recommed it to everyone who doesn't hate reading a lot for hours and hours
I still have to grab Hypnospace Outlaw
the game looks like my thing, but I keep grabbing it on the sale.
Well the catch with Disco Elysium is also that its very intelligently written
To the point where its hard to follow along at times
oh yeah playing Disco Elysium was sure something. Mean I think I have gotten everything, it may be written sophisticated but I think most stuff is easily understandable if well you are mature enough to read into things and such.
It is understandable, but its exhausting
I feel like I need a lot of concentration sometimes to keep track of everything
É isso, trabalho entregue, acho que fomos longe, estou orgulhoso💜

Just listened to DMC4 soundtrack, it went randomly through Transistor, bastion, dead cells, zelda and now hollow knight... Spotify know what i like huh
I love how heavy and flowery the language in Disco Elysium is.
Has anyone here played Kind Words? Does it work as well as you hoped?
ive used it! i think its sweet! ive only seen people using it correctly, myself :>
hm, might pick it up then, thanks
kind words is very nice!
@nocturne crypt I mean, any investment for a pun is good

technically off topic
but
relevant
as it's the off-topic channel, i believe everything here is relevant
@sudden torrent I played and beat HLD, but after the first area I ran into a hard wall so I grabbed an item map and ground that out.
Speaking of grind...
hrgh, Ori and the Blind Forest on hard is kicking my ass
I didn't expect it to, but the opening sequence where you functionally get oneshot by everything doing double damage is... oof
Pretty sure it's reasonable after the first couple hours, except for that bloody flooded tree which is never going to be reasonable unless they nerfed it hard
In Hollow Knight I played on switch with full map opened on 27 inch pc screen.
I just had no F.. Idea where to go
In ori I think I was doing fine since start to finish
Keep saving it
Take a perk to heal health when you do it as well
Next ori will be harder, there will not be saving where ever we want
I'm hyped btw 13 March
I can’t post images here, I wanted to post a meme :/
ori's coming out next month too? dang, everything's coming out in march, huh
It’s semi related to hades
you can post images, you just need to post a link
yeah ori 2 comes out march 11
Will y'all be my valentines?
sure, friend
ouch
dhfshdjfshjfd that's not an ouch
i was being friendly
friend valentines are real, don't you remember grade school

what are your options?
many
is warframe one of them?
I didn't like it when I tried it
oh well, dead cells?
hollow knight or katana zero
bastion
that too
Hyper Light Drifter.
beat HLD deathless.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang.
though actually don't try, I think that one was made if you are extremely bored and NG+ wasn't enough
since
who in their right mind beats the game deathless fair
People who are really good at video games and appreciate the work of art that is Hyper Light Drifter?
yes them
It might not stay in my top 10 favorites but it's probably on my "objective" top ten list.
but it's like very few of them though, which is like congrats to them, but I defiantly won't be able to do it fair. I lack the time to practice the game to such extreme.
And yeah same honestly, I view it quite well as objectively good game, minus the fact they have a collectables achievement for all gearbits.
I've only ever completed the achievements for one game (Armored Core 4, required no collectible hunting), so I've never been bothered by completionism being gated by that, but I get your frustration.
Honestly I have very few games that I have 100%, but if I do so, it means the games really mean something to me honestly, they definitely deserved my time. But yeah some HLD achievements maybe go way extreme for me at least.
I really wanted to 100% Kero Blaster, but the game really gets difficult on second NG+
@tranquil bay Is that Warriors Orochi 4?
Nice
honestly surprised anyone recognized it

The Talos Principle
Code Vein
Tower Hunter Erza Trial
Eliza
Crystar
The Vagrant
Assasin Creed Chronicles China
Zanki Zero Last Begining
Kingdom Come
hm.......i say the talos principle, because my brother recommends it
o:
I loved the Talos Principle on its first play.
dead in vinland was a pain imho, you'll know whether you'll love or hate it within the first 30mns though so that's a least a positive of sorts
what Shouldn't you cut with it
Aren't laser cutters for wood?
not this bad boy
1030nm 4500W peak power
the 1030nm means its good at pretty much only metals
attach it to the shi- oh wait this isn't FTL
doesn't quite have the range
How about making one of those fancy lightbox things with the silhouettes in the front
Or a really nice dice roller
I loved FTL
Shame Into The Breach didn't live for me to expetations in comparison
What were your expectations for Into the Breach!?
I thought it was amazing, different from FTL but still very true to the Subset name
I never got Into The Breach, though I loved FTL.
I looked at gameplay of ITB, but yeah, it kind of was too much of a puzzle than a grand scheme strategy with its own quirks
I think I liked ITB more than FTL, though both are very good games
ITB also happens to be one of the few games I got all the achievements for. Usually I wont bother 100% anything
Doesn't help half of the games the achievements are either useless pad or things you would have gotten anyways during normal PT
Not for the more advanced squads you unlock
There's definitely some pretty strange squads with some fun achievos
Itb just wasn't as engaging as ftl. Not as much writing or interaction.
ITB fixed the one issue with FTL
namely too much RNG
maybe it's just me being me and everytime I see RNG I can't help but yell at it like an old man
also completely off topic
the new Rainbow Six Siege season
Ooh, then I should get ITB. FTL and to a greater extent, frankly, Isaac got a little unwinnable if you didn't have God Mode on tap like players like BrainTM do.
you guys heard of Apotheon?
i've heard of it, is it much good?
A 9/10 on Steam
A 78% on Metacritic
And a 94% on Google
i was asking more if you'd played and enjoyed it
In ITB the only part that is RNG are map generation (which is good), prize reward (with difficulty increase for missions with better prizes), and shops item (which is 1/RNG, 2/generally you have better uses that is not based on RNG using currency and 3/the stock loadouts are generally good enough to beat the game with a few upgrades.)
and also if I am correct the two core items, a literal power core which you use to upgrade your mechs and weapons is garuanteed to show up in shops, plus the repair for your grid hp
Yeah while FTL is absurdly good, I think ITB is a more finely-tuned game and is better for it
Haven't played it lol
Who else is at least 25 years old, regularly consumes alcohol, but approaches a 10 mil shot of Robitussin like it's the devil's liquor itself?
to be fair, cough syrup is the devil's liquor itself
It's doing wonders but my goodness it's practically lingering.
Tequila isn't this bad.
tequila’s p good
i don’t really drink a lot of straight up liquor tho. mostly just wine and mixed drinks lol
i’m weenie hut jr.
I can't stand the majority of liquor that isn't super sweet like dessert wine.
But I like the taste of cough syrup.
And that stupid fake orange flavor.
:V
are you sure your name isn't on a federal watchlist somewhere
people who like cough syrup
(jokes)
I am the Food Heretic
Yeet
the tastiest medicine i've ever had is the children's panadol syrup with the orange flavour
Ayy
strangely sherbert like but with a bitter aftertaste
I see you're a dragon of culture
👍
the other flavours are certainly less pleasant, but i've never had problems downing medicine
ugh, sometimes i retch trying to get down cold medicine
the powdered ones that you mix into water are pretty intense
i like those better than the syrup
some of those aren't bad
there's one i take mixed with hot water and it's not the worst thing in the world
Wolcen really makes me wish for a Torchlight 3
Aren't we getting Torchlight 3?
yup
was gonna be an mmo but they changed their minds
pretty sure it’s out this year too
continuing a discussion from hades discussion, what the christians did to greek knowledge was preserve it. The dark ages were caused by germanic and steppe nomad invasions, not religion.
If it hadn't been for the christian monks, it's likely that the dark ages that started around 400 AD would have been a collapse like what we saw in the bronze ages where people lost written language entirely
they did changed a lot of way
like making them extremely CHASISTY
so you wont get the original flavor
I don't mean to be rude, but could you rephrase that thought
I can't understand what you're trying to say
for example, Aphrodite has another epithet that is more of a motherly love type rather than the usual amor type
I thought mother's love was Hera's area
which is suspiciously christian work since it is alot parallel to Mother (i forgot the name)
Nope
there is another one
...You mean Mary?
Yeah mary
where are you from
Japan
ah, okay that's fair
ok the epithet is called Ourania
its heavenly love
so its not exactly the sexy kind
Pandemos (the all the folk) is the sexy kind
this one?
yes
also pandemos aphrodite is the one we know
And if we're talking epithets, one of Aphrodite's titles translates to "She of the beautiful buttocks"
the sexy, sleep around, extreme salty if ppl dont make love
to be fair, that's aphrodite in most of the stories and myths
yeah ourania is nothing like that
Pygmalion+Galatea, the Iliad, debatably Cupid and Psyche
again, no jealousy involved in a heavenly loved
It mustn't have been a very popular aspect of the goddess, given that it doesn't come up in any of the myths that we still have
Yep
thats why some people think its probably christian's work
since a lot of their version involves a lot of no sexy mode
even tho they literally draw nudes on their paintings
funny story about that
at certain points, people actually painted over the nude figures on the sistene chapel to make them decent
Huh
At the time, Michelangelo's nude paintings on the ceiling were seen as....I guess risque, is about the right level for it
Too avantgarde for a catholic church in full counterreformatory swing.
Michelangelo: i dont get paid often
people raised an eyebrow, but it was difficult to impeach Michelangelo's morals because he was an obviously very religious guy
Also Michelangelo: yeah lets paint them naked to piss the pope off topkek
no, nothing like that
and he was gay afaik
ehhhh
queer theory is frankly the least interesting thing you can do in biography
like, it's necessary in some cases, obviously
idk but at some point it might turn into very intoxicating
like just assume everybody is gay
Baldwin II was noted as struggling with homosexual urges by contemporaries, Oscar Wile went to prison for it
@dense wren There is historical evidence for him being gay.
sure its fun to imagine "insert fiction god here" to be gay but again its odd
if you make it too often
that's exactly what has happened in queer theory, fortunately that fad is largely over and there is a modicum of actual academic rigor involved in that sort of thing these days
also im ultra gay for apollo so shush
Apollo would probably bang anything tbqh
Ganymede may possibly be an example of the eromenos archetype
also if you date apollo you have 10% innate chance to die
lmao, how
@dense wren
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s15013-015-0775-y
This is the best source (scientific publisher) I found so far, although only in German.
So far meaning in a short search.
@tardy ore refer to every single lover he dated has either run away from him due to the weird curse of them die somehow also turns into flora by apollo because they died in some ways that either is from jealousy of others or straight up T H E P R O P E C H Y
that kind of happens to the lovers of the gods
srsly does it work out for anybody at all
not happening to Poseidon's lover
which one would that be, the gorgons he metoo'd in a temple?
Nah
I actually tend to be skeptical of people who read that as rape, alot of old cultures had a much thinner line between assault and seduction
Well, the line is still blurry today.
its Nerites
@deft comet its because they read the salty poet edition
yknow that guy who got exiled by roman emperor
he rewrite the gods as being some of the most selfish being
its Ovid
oh him
there goes your $2000
tch, well
wheel of fortune is a better show
I should read the metamorphoses
but right now I should go to bed XD
Being exiled is such a good source for inspiration, you should try it sometime.
Nighty.
Well its time for the night show of Fade trying to sarcastically mock the story that happened thousand years ago
first episode
@dense wren Sorry, you don't have to answer, but where in Japan are you from?
Hokkaido island
Hakodate
I have to say though, you're an odd one (not in a negative sense). Most Japanese I know barely speak English and even fewer play PC games.
Im not a real Japanese its just happened that half of my family is Japanese and I moved there after 10 for a good 8 years
also Japanese can play PC games
ehhh not really? I mean i know quite a handful of them are pretty epic on Overwatch
yeah im hafu
i don't say they don't
god i wish there is a word that is better than the word that literally means half
meanwhile the translation for mixed blood has been degratory
mixed heritage?
we do have the term for it
you mean the English or Japanese?
stiff?
Nah
straight up degratory or discrimination
but its been better
also i like how some of you guys really loved the way native-japanese speaks engrish
some comes with a mocking way
I hated it.
I feld so bad because the teacher apparently changed the seminar into English and some students were really struggling.
i felt bad for them.
I could not follow their speeches at all.
hold up are you japanese as well
No. But I lived there for a year.
Exactemento.
But I wasn't aware of the discrimination against hafus... the (two) hafus I talked to so far were rather positive about their reception there.
its mostly the politic manipulation
the normal folks here does not really care
they just happy to have more people here
but the old people who cared about politics have higher chance of grow a thorn armor against you
oh, I read about it
something something immigrants having lower IQ babies or such nonsense
its just the politicians are salty
I feel pretty great with my japanese friends here
they also admired me for being able to assist them with English
so yeah its clear the problem only happens in the older generation
also with what Logan did really does not help

The only time I experienced discrimination was when we were a group of Japanese and foreign students returning from Yodogawa hanabi in the train and everyone was talking (as the festive mood still stuck with ppl) but some ojiisan just yells at us to not speak English so noisily.
And we weren't louder than the rest.
yeaaaaa
if you are a dirt in their eye they will always see it even though its just a speck
japan society really needs a wake up call just like every country out there
I think the younger generation is already on a good way.
hopefully
but older generation generally loooves the guilt trip
and make sure the newer gen will follow their footsteps
I had a very warm reception there, even as an openly homosexual foreigner.
anyway i feel like it could get us banananed for talking about politics yeah?
Do the rules prohibit politics?
im not sure
I dunno, this is more social issues/ life issues in general.
Shall the mods decide whether they deem it too political or not.
@cedar rock sorry to bother you giorno giovanna but is it okay to talk about this
Politics are not inherently against the rules here, so long as everyone acts respectful to others and are not inflammatory.
sure thing!
also kinda related to prove that normal folks really does not care about immigrant and xenophobic stuff
jojo part 5 and 6 is probably the best received parts in japan
Didn't watch JoJo. so...
part 5 is italy based
part 6 is america based
sooo yeah
part 7 is amazing too i must say
part 7 is cowboy amurica
I don't know how you get from xenophobia to JoJo...
Because, again, I did not watch it.
yea, the american reception to part 6 weirdly seems worse than the japanese reception
I have a feeling it will change when it gets animated
tbh its the story that hurts the plot
even I feel like im reading some bible type from all these unique but too complicated power description for a light reading media
and you have anasui, explaining a stand for 5 pages
standing there
tbh i think thats why part 7 is not a continuation of part 6 rather an alt universe so they can reuse the power in a simpler but more specific way than part 3
part 3 stand are vague
and most of them can be powerful since they arent restricted by further stand's power limitation
Everything is a Jojo reference :^)
Never actually read much of part 6
I kinda liked the campiness of part 5 and those before it though
Part 6 is my personal least favorite but it was still a really fun read, can’t wait for it to get animated
Jolyne’s also a cool protagonist
I read it into til one part and didn't finish it since I didn't manage time well enough with ut
And stone free is an interesting ability that makes for some really fun fights, it also isn’t broken as all living hell like the other protagonist stands
What I have been told starting with part 6 the stands are more commonly go beyond simply being a fighting stand
I haven't caught up with jojolion since 2014
And my body has rejected anime and manga for a few years now
stone free is pretty weak
not sure why
@sudden torrent Araki is exploring some more but again with so many stands before part 6 its pretty sure the inspo well is running dry
but again part 7 has some more tool stand such as cream starter
and its epic you dont see them often
i wish suit stand will be a thing again in part 8
I really need get back to reading part 6 but I forgot what I was using for that and on what page I stooped.
yep thats how forgetful part 6 is
Yeah they get pretty weird
since some of them are just straight up too complicated
Cause they kinda have to be
we dont need you to explain 6 pages of how this stupid compass work annasui come by and help
