i liked cyberpunk but i didnt get as crazy immersed in the world and the story as some of my other friends

well, the world is really cool. its an amazing atmosphere, and it feels like a place with real history. but the story of the game itself didnt stand out to me TOO much, like the story of V and johnny and arasaka and stuff, it didnt really "grip" me necessarily. but i enjoyed it well enough

I think that Edgerunners does a bit better job of telling a story using the world of Cyberpunk

2077 does a solid job of making the world and having some considerably good moments, especially Phantom Liberty, but I left Edgerunners with a lot more to think about

It uses it to its advantage and it does a lot using the context of the cyber dystopia

Goes a lot more in depth about really exploring the impact is has on real people without having to go into all the side content

yeah, shooting things is fun no matter what. mostly just the skills and the hacking stuff that i really didnt care for tbh. also i remember being bored when you have to analyze the braindances and piece together information by finding clues or something? i dont remember very well

yeah, i just appreciate lighter/simpler/minimal gameplay for my open world games. like for gta 5 (one of my favorite games), you rarely get taken out of the world. there are cutscenes, but besides that its just "walk around, drive, shoot gun" rather than "navigate menu, upgrade skills, find clues, press E to interact"

but the gameplay of cyberpunk isnt bad. just i would be quite interested to see a version of cyberpunk with more minimal gameplay like that

They’re not all gonna appeal to a general audience. Panam is brash and strong-willed, Judy is kinda self centered and emotionally troubled, and I’ve yet to really do much with Kerry or River since they’re more out of the way

Cool, intelligence, and technical, though it did become a little boring after a bit when everything died instantly to hacking or smart weapons

my cyberpunk playthrough was me playing for a bit, qutting for a few months, playing for a bit, quitting for a few months again, playing for a bit, quitting for like 3 years, then finishing the game. sooo... i never really interacted with the combat system as deeply as i maybe could have, because every time i reopened the game i had forgotten almost everything. but thats fine. like i was never using abilities. just gun and grenade

but i did spec into cool i remember, my male V had a wide open jacket with no shirt underneath. so it only made sense that he was cool as hell

im either a binger or i give up on a game for years, no in between. hades 1 and 2 i played ungodly amounts of, like 6-10 hour days for a couple months straight for both of them. but for red dead 2, my save has been sitting at like 10% completion for a couple years

It's a very grounded show about this boy in high school who is also professionally competing in Shogi.

As you can imagine, that's a lot of pressure for an introverted, most likely autistic boy.

The focus is less on shogi and more on the human experience. There an impressive range of characters of different walks of life influencing our protagonist.

It also has amazing visual language as even the colors of the environment change with the tone of the scenes. The animations also love to use striking visual metaphors despite the show being so grounded, it looks amazing

my biggest gripe with invincible is the fight scenes. they do a poor job of making the civilization of genocidal military super people feel like they know how to fight

none of them block, they telegraph their attacks for way too long

every fight scene is a back and forth tug of war where one person gets to hit the other person 3 times, then the other person gets 5 hits, and they expect us to be on the edge of our seat going "omg whos gonna win?!"

imo the show just has so many issues that keep it from being enjoyable. its fine to watch it if youre a "i have joy and whimsy in my heart" kind of person but i dont think that should invalidate any real criticisms with the show

On the 3rd point: one is a season finale and the other was not, (though that point is a little weak, but that's probably the explanation, and the whole fight going on wasnt just mainly about Conquest vs Invincible, there were multiple fights )
On the 4th point, they are setting up a redemption arc (which kinda already happened)

I dont think comparing an animation studio to an Anime studio (which is known for it's notorious quality of life for artists) is a fair criticism. Comparison is the thief of joy, and when you start to analyze it so in depth, of course it will be miserable. That being said, yea, the animation is upper middle of the pack when it comes to animation quality.

I dont think animation (overall the quality is fine) should be what people worry about when the (i hate to use this term) power scaling is all over the place. I get it's trying to stay pretty faithful to the comics, but they can definitely improve on some of those aspects.

If you like Pokemon you should try the Mystery Dungeon series, my favorites are explorers of sky and rescue team. They're very different from the Hades games in that each story chapter is a different dungeon, meta progression is very heavy, and the "true" rogue experience doesn't kick in until end game, plus the story + music are pretty nice

the hades fight (mono dash close range) is very dual esque

you are on more or less equal footing and you win by reacting correctly to the moves he does

i personally dont think about free will and afterlife and such often. and while reading this discussion i found myself thinking, why does it matter so much?
maybe its my own experience that makes me feel this way but for example, if you decide do shave your head (regardless of it its impulsive, something you thought about beforehand, etc.) and you go ahead and do that. does it matter if you did it of your own free will or if it was somehow preordained or if some external force is pulling the strings?
so you want to shave your head, and you do that or you dont. all of this "free will" stuff is completely out of your control (and even not visible or proven) so why agonize about it? like who cares, the only thing you are doing by pondering that potential external motivation is tormenting yourself kinda

and as for the afterlife, if there is a concept of it you are specifically drawn to, and it brings you comfort, and its also what you want to believe. as long as it does no harm to anyone else, why agonize over that?

its probably not something you can know for certain. so like, youll get there when you get there. both getting there and finding out what constitutes as an "afterlife" are things that are inevitable as well

unless you decide to dedicate your entire life to the opposite like trying to achieve immortality

also i personally like the gameplay from hades 2 way more than h1, i played from the start of h1 early access and idk when h2 early access came out i thought it felt so much smoother already. and since then a lot of things were improved like ||not having to equip specific tools once you unlock them, or stuff like eris giving rewards in early runs if she impedes you instead of just cursing you and leaving||. now its way more refined. so even then it felt like wow i can never go back to h1 gameplay in the same way, even though i played it a lot

Well the question of free-will is interesting because it opens another : why people do what they do? Why do we do what we actually do? Because indeed for something as trivial as shaving your head the question doesn't matter.

But if I see a poor person stealing food at the grocery store...is that because they truly decided to steal, or because they were brought to steal by circumstances out of their control? And the answer to this question could bring some serious topics, for example the question of punishment and rehabilitation in justice.

Well maybe this is just me being bad at explaining my train of thoughts but I think that concerning the serious topic that is crime and delinquency, if we want to be truly fair with people, we need to establish where free-will starts and when it stops

Because if free-will exists, then I don't have a solution to propose to actually reduce crime and delinquency, because if free-will exists, there is no way to properly induce the respect of the law except through dictatorship, which is not a good solution

#

But if free-will has limits or simply doesn't exist, then everything becomes a matter of circumstances and we can actually help people respect the law by changing the circumstances of life.

This is a really important one in Christianity: the default state of mankind post-Fall is that man is hecking dead, and apparently man's situation is hopeless enough that God himself had to die (and chose to die) in place of mankind for mankind to have a chance to live. As such, the afterlife isn't some abstract thing or one of many alternatives: it's the end result of a very specific, singular choice to surrender to a singular death and subsequent resurrection. Everything else is a different flavor of death, plus the universe's days are numbered

13 Months ago, I completed my run through the grueling grind of Achieving Unseen One in Hades 1 whilst riding out the hiatus between chapters of another widely enjoyed indie game.
Today, Hades 2 has done all it can to see me through another of those hiatuses.

It's rather poetic, all things considered. Hades 1 was there to provide a challenge back when we awaited DR Chapters 3 & 4.
