Well, one of my friends finally woke up, but I've been making a collection of 5e homebrew themed after the game wildfrost. I wanted to take a shot at the poison, damage over time archetype in a way that wouldn't be cumbersome to keep track of- the spell melf's acid arrow does this pretty well, despite being a bad spell otherwise.

I've devised a ranger based off of wildfrost's shroom mechanic (just ticking poison) that has a pool of dice that they can expend to deal damage. Sort of a pseudo paladin or rogue, except worse in every way. Because it's a 2014 ranger. Here's the core ability, which I'm very unsure of (flavor text is not there because it's WIP):

You have shroomy ammunition represented by a number of d4s equal to your ranger level.

Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can spend any number of unexpended dice. Roll the spent dice and add them together; the target takes extra poison damage equal to the total. At the end of its next turn, the target also takes poison damage equal to half of the total (to a minimum of 1), unless a creature uses its action to scrape or wash the spores off itself or another creature.

You regain all expended dice when you finish a long rest.

Yeah, I'm only doing poison stuff since I picked the Cirlce of Spores as my Druid subclass, and I only picked that cause I really like mushrooms and it seemed neat. All the necromancy and poison stuff is really funny cause my character is really friendly and nice, and the death and life cycle stuff plays in really well with my Anthropology background. I don't know anything about the finer mechanics, I've played 3 sessions now, I believe, and I'm just throwing things at a wall and learning as I go

But I get what you mean, the stuff I throw at people, in my opinion, see.s like they should do something, but the mechanics of the game, primarily my poor rolls, have made it so hard for any of my fun spore stuff to do anything

I'm making a ranger spell list for a little mushroom guy subclass, and I'm having trouble determining the second level spell. Here's the typical requirements:

-Must not already be on the Ranger's spell list
-Cannot be a primarily damaging & offensive spell

I really want to pick Wither and Bloom, as it's really fun, and fits the vibe well, but it technically deals damage AND heals. What do we think

think of it this way, cooking uneven cuts of meat will get them to cook differently. Some pieces will be more cooked than the others.

Coffee beans are like that. Lighter coloured beans add to acidity, whereas darker coloured add to sweetness/bitterness. Keeping them even colour ensures the coffee will have more intense 'right' flavour cause of less outliers.

So does it make a difference? Yes, quite a lot. Is it worth it? if you're doing it for yourself, not really, unless you have a lot of time in the evening. And it's free.

Iron lung was amazing icl

I got to see it a day early thanks to working at a theater, spoiler free review is the story i think is great, the cast all have great performances, the audio design especially in a dfx theater is super cool, and the way they feed story into a one room style film I think is super cool

Spoiler review ||I love the dynamics between the COI, eden, and the blood ocean. Simon being caught amidst all 3 i think is fascinating. Eden are his brothers, although some may betray him thats his heart and home, the coi being his futile salvation creates a wonderful pull for the story and the whispers of what im assuming is an all knowing blood god that maybe caused the silent rapture(?) Offering some form of peace in forfeit and release in death is so so cool||

||some of the shots I thought were super super cool and my god the whole sequence where he meets the blood god is just visually stunning and the eldritch horror implications are just super intriguing||

i finally went to the cinema and didn't leave disappointed!

i was pretty damn good

it's not this perfect ehmergerd 10/10 whatever that a lot of comments suggested

but for me - for what my opinion is worth - it is a solid 7 or 8 / 10

considering it was written, directed, acted, produced, edited and funded by a single youtuber - i was worried we might be having a bit of a "the room" situation on our hands
i was even getting some "oh hi mark" jokes ready

but no - it's seriously impressive

and while far from perfect - there's a lot of things there that didn't quite land
for every one of them there's three more it does well

this is gonna be a proper indie cult classic and i seriously recommend watching it

so - that's my short bit on the movie
i'll wait for others to watch it before i dive in detail

also - the freakin soundtrack BOIIIIIIIIIIIII

But I did go into that theater as someone who does theater productions, with a love for costume design, set design, and practical effects. So that was mostly what I was paying attention to; how everything was put together and working
