Hey everyone, I really need to share this. During my trip to the U.S. I bought what was supposed to be an ASUS TUF RTX 5070 from Best Buy (Open Box for $507). When I got back home to Chile and opened it, I found out it was actually a Lenovo OEM RTX 4080 that someone had modified by replacing the fans with ASUS TUF ones and faking the branding.

The GPU doesn’t work at all, and Best Buy keeps refusing to take responsibility because I’m outside the U.S. I have all the receipts, photos, and even serial numbers proving it’s a different card that was sold under ASUS branding.

I’ve contacted ASUS, NVIDIA, and even Best Buy executives on LinkedIn, but no one has fixed it yet. I saved all my money to buy this GPU during my vacation, and it turned into a total scam experience.

Please be careful with Open Box items from Best Buy. I trusted the store because of its reputation, and this could literally happen to anyone.

If anyone here works in tech retail, has contacts in ASUS, NVIDIA, or Best Buy, or knows a developer or admin who could help me escalate this situation, I’d really appreciate any guidance or support.

I'm wondering why - years ago at school - we used to be able to plug in a usb with Halo on it and play lan, no issues.

I tried this with mates at work yesterday, using the same copy of Halo I used back in school, and we tried to LAN and it said invalid cd key.

This never used to be an issue? Why is it suddenly happening now?

Yeah whenever you try to join any kind of MP it says invalid cd key

I found a cd key on a steam forum with infinite uses but haven't tested it yet. It'll either work with Halo:CE or Custom Edition.
