Also, for any hypothetical game devs out there reading this and wondering the right way to get early playtesters:
Either make it public and give people an opportunity to opt in (for a recent example, see Spellomancer, which ran a couple open alpha tests recently). Or keep it private, and limit players to people you already are connected with or people they recommend (Valve did something like this with Deadlock before opening it up to wider invites)

(Or, y'know, ask a playtesting/PR consultant, instead of a random gamedev who has only baseline training in running large-scale playtests :3)
