On the other hand something like "call me maybe" or "friday" those 2 songs are objectively terrible songs on many levels

like for example I get very little out of competitive shooters -- I'm generally not great at them and that sort of ranked competition doesn't appeal to me as much as it does to a lot of people

I’m not usually that into it, but I really enjoyed the dark and gloomy atmosphere throughout Transistor, and it was complimented perfectly by the beautiful tracks playing in the background. Gameplay was enjoyable as well, in my opinion, but everything that contributed to creating the atmosphere is what appealed to me the most.
I didn’t find Pyre quite as unique or appealing in that respect, but the gameplay felt less repetitive and the allies and foes were more fleshed out, compared to in Transistor.

Each genre of game has their strengths and weaknesses in that regard, it's a lot easier to fully flesh out a character in a visual novel type game where the majority of the story/character interactions are mostly done through text, compaired to the isometric rts/action type game of transistor where most of the plot is presented through either the surrounding environment or vaguely given to you through the character interactions or experimenting with the transistor itself

Personally I love games like Hyper Light Drifter and Transistor, where the plot is very vaguely given to you and it requires you to figure it out for oneself from what's given to you through character interaction and the environment around you

Yeah to anyone wondering, Hades looks and feels finished. But there's only 30ish rooms per run and it is not fully optimized or balanced. But it is easily the BEST early access game in a long time.

It's somewhat of an issue for SEO, all your domain combinations should redirect to one spot, so if someone links Supergiant's website in any form, it always lands on the same URL. Although I don't think Google will make much of a distinction between https and http. I think most people would just grab the URL off Google to begin with, which points to the right URL.
I don't think this is intended behavior since you do use Let's Encrypt for your certificate on the store, but not on the main section
I also noticed that the HTTPS version of the site (not the store) is not secure because the content served is mixed.

Then about a year later I finally got around to playing Pyre, and then when I was done with that I played and finished Bastion, and now I've finished Transistor four or five times, Bastion twice and am working on a third, and Pyre is definitely next

I think the success of procedural games like Slay the Spire and Dead Cells led to Supergiant making the decision of going towards that type of game. It also fixes the marketing issue they had with Pyre where they reveal the game, and then it doesn't get as much fanfare as their prior games did afterwards to some extent as it becomes a fixture. However, and maybe that's just my uneducated opinion, but Hades being on the Epic Store is a risky decision in some ways.
There's a certain visibility that comes from being on Steam, and I would argue that's part of why games like StS and Dead Cells succeeded

But it will be interesting to see how this develops for Supergiant. Putting their game on the Epic Store is a risky move, but I think if that fails, Supergiant knows full well they can release on Steam whenever they want as a backup plan, and it's likely better for them to get their dedicated fanbase to buy the game on the Epic Store. Also this Discord also fulfills part of that objective; it will help launch whatever they put out there out of the stratosphere so-to-speak. It's very good to have a velocity on social media.
If they put out a Youtube video for instance, and 500 on this server watch it, it's 500 people that not only come off platform, but they're also 500 people who are dedicated enough to be on here, and thus they're far more likely to interact with the content, which will make their video garner more attention through the algorithm.

Hades kind of had me in an addictive loop though.... Took forever to beat Meg, but not much longer for the hydra. Makes me more confident to take on pyre again

afaik pyre is also a longer game than hades in its current state. (it’s the longest competed sgg for sure with an average play time of 8-10 hours.) you’re welcome to play the games in whatever order and at whatever pace because the only thing that matters is if you’re having an enjoyable game experience in the end

I'd say excluding Hades Pyre is their most replayable game.
Or to be more appropriate it has the most replayable story. Transistor's gameplay is probably more replayable with the randomized enemies. But the story of Pyre can be rather different depending on what choices you make.

Though it's hard to rank Hades since it's early access

I'd say Pyre > Transistor > Bastion.
They all have superb stories and I don't know if I can even really rank them but I did feel like the wilds section of Bastion dragged on for too long which isnt helped by the annoying enemies. Pyre's soundtrack is genius and as I said, considering they are all rather short games, I feel like Pyre is the one which best utilizes it's short length as it's story (and soundtrack!) has variables.
Hades is looking like it will end up having the best gameplay.
Although I will say bastion probably has the best ending of the lot.

and no clue where to put Hades because for me it's largely about story/worldbuilding
which are strong for all of them, but ultimately Pyre's worldbuilding/atmosphere give it the top spot for me, as well as the integration of mechanics and story

Eh, I never really got into Pyre; the sports game aspects never really appealed and the fact that losing a match changed the story irreparably put a lot of pressure on every interaction (since you could never fix your mistakes, you have to live with them until the end)

In the early Bastion prototyping days, back before there was ANY artist working at Supergiant, monsters scanned from D&D books served as placeholders...!" but if you came for the gameplay with Pyre you'll me sorely disappointed, as the meat of it is the story
