they're generally not super involved, and might be more for character than for a specific quest

I could use any old text editor to work with it, but it is so much easier to use Notepad++ compared to something like Word. Mainly because the space and any symbol are exactly the same length.

I tried asking for TextPad, which is what some of my colleagues use, but the IT guys said that it's paid, and the company does not have a license for it.

So I had to settle for something.

it's because unlike most rpgs, the role of the reader is almost the same as the role of the player. what does the player typically do in a game? make choices and influence/control characters
what does the reader do? make choices and influence characters
add that to the fact that the reader has an identity that's largely left to interpretation
and yet, the reader is not YOU, but has his/her/their own voice, which allows you to feel a bind with this charater rather than simply projecting yourself onto him/her/them (though, of course, you might do that as well)

Just finished the game, Final Liberation Count: Jodariel, Ti'Zo, Rukey, Almer (I threw the match), Fae, Hedwyn, Reader.
(Edit: my final scorecard was also 23:1:2, I only lost the final boss fight and the one I threw because Fate deserved it. Then the bi I got since my last opponent didnt show)
I made the most selfish choice in the end. I couldve liberated Volfred or Oralech. But I dont regret it. I kept Hedwyn around as long as possible, because I liked him so much, and I think hes why I chose to save myself in the end. He said much earlier that I should be selfish when the time comes, and that my friends would understand. I also really wanted to see Hedwyns promise stand true, seeing how much he stressed over it. the only thing I would have changed was saving Tamitha instead of Ti'Zo, but the choice didnt present itself to me. It did leave pamitha with the short end of the stick though. I love this game, but I will never touch it again, seeing how satisfied I am with its ending.

I do love the way Shae ends up as the ||new high priestess of a kinder, gentler Scribe-centered religion if you send her up||

I prefer ||leaving her down, since she's so happy in the Downside and I wanted to prioritize people who had an emotional need for liberation||

But it's still a great outcome either way

I appreciate her a lot as a portrayal of a person who's blatantly not neurotypical but whose "oddities" are neither evil/threatening nor cruelly mocked (she's not perfect that way, but she's head and shoulders above the crowd these days)

And as a person who finds a joyful approach to a religion she loves, even when it's been twisted in gross ways by corrupt authority figures who have literally tried to exile her from her own faith and culture for being abnormal.

Both really valuable things that I don't see often in fiction.

FWIW, ||I'm pretty sure having Volf and Oralech on the Commonwealth leads them to patch up.|| And having Tam and Pam up there leads to ||Tam attacking Pam in public, who lets her be hit. But they talk a little from that point onward? Pam is crippled somewhat but is happer since her heart is at peace||
