I just finished Pyre, and I really enjoyed the choices, especially the last one. Not often does a game make me think long and hard about the consequences of my actions, so I commend that.

||It was between me, volfred or oralech- it took me awhile, but I felt that sending volfred would be the best in ensuring a peaceful transfer of power, as he could oversee his plan. Sort of a "greater good" sort of thing. Did I, or Oralech deserve it more? Probably- the reader does all the heavy lifting, and Oralech was cheated of his chance. But in the end I felt Volfred was the best chance for the Commonwealth.||

Someone recently hypothesised that certain triumvirates may have trudged by on oral tradition alone, teaching fellow team members just how to read the stars... I like that option but I also like to think that, simply, at least one member per triumvirate knew how to read

One somewhat grim post-game Jodi character study, with both Jodi/Iggy and Jodi/Pam

Excerpt: `There are very few brawls in his tavern these days; his reputation precedes him. Still, one night, a tussling pair of drunks crashes into her table. Her ale slops across her work, flooding her inkwell and sending a wash of swirling black into her lap.

She gets slowly to her feet, lifting her horned head until she looms over the men sprawled on the floor. They fall silent. She says nothing; simply narrows her eyes at them.

One of them whimpers, and then they are frantically climbing over each other in their eagerness to be out the door first.

"Ha!" Ignarious shouts from behind the bar. "You were born to be a bouncer, Curly-Horns."

"They would not have lasted two minutes on the Bloodborder," she observes, calmly, and seats herself again.`

(It's mostly a lot of liberated!Jodi figuring out what the hell she's going to do with the rest of her life, once the revolution is done.)

The other one is pure unadulterated Joditha preliberation angst and I'm a bit embarrassed of it (plus I know it's not everyone's ship), but I like how the prose turned out 😅

Man, I love that one of Jodi's masteries is Brazen Manner

The elite of the capital holding elaborate all-night balls with expensive commissioned crowns woven with silver wire and expensive flowers, eating elegantly deconstructed venison "stew" amuse-bouches and listening to professional storytellers

The Nightwing exiles in the Downside scraping together a celebration (for the first time in years, for some of them) out of whatever they can find

Hedwyn as a child, stubbornly haggling for meat to make the best stew he can for his foster family 💕

That aspect was one of my favorite parts of the concept for the holiday, the way the oral storytelling would have become so important in a society where literacy was banned

Just realized, a decked up blackwagon being a fricken party bus, with giant antlers out the side and everyone sharing stories while tariq gently sings in the background ||and recounts his own stories, some from centuries past||

Volfred writes down everythign shared in his journal, jodi keeps the fire going, hedwyn hugs anyone having a particullarly bad memory and passes out all the snacks (jodi helps with the hugging), bertrude sets up nice incense and candles to set the mood and tells of her time with volfred, ti'zo runs around to people telling their stories and snuggle into their lap before moving on to the next person. Pam sits on top of the blackwagon and tells of the childhood adventures of her and tam. -ae sits behind her and brushes out her feathers and hair while speaking the words of the scribes and her hopes for the future. Rukey recounts his family and tells of some of his more adventours dealings. Tariq serenades the group with music, and speaks in a soft voice upon all. Gilman speaks of past honors and future glory to be gained, keeping the group from dozing off with his limitless energy. The drive imps come out and curl into -ae's hair and bertrudes cloak, the beyonder crystal rests on volfreds shoulder and provides a night light for him while Sandra speaks of deeds long gone and forgotten in the passage of time.

Imagine the other triumvirates coming up to the nightwings on Capriem:
Everyone kicks Lendle out. Dalbert speaks of almer and how much he loves him, while almer sulks in the corner and greedily noms Hedwyn's snacks. Barker curls up next to Rukey and they speak of all the hyjinxs they got into together. Tam brushes -ae's hair and Pam brushes Tam, leading to a grooming circle and they constantly correct each other about past sotires and tier childhood frinds while Tam slowly gets closer and closer to Pam eventually falling asleep in her wings while mumbling about how she misses Pam. Udmildhe talks to Bertrude about mythology and rituals, while volfred tries to give her a stack of pamphlets. Deluge and Gilman recount of the glory of the sea dominion and their war-time escapades. Iggy gives out big bear hugs and is generally the life of the party and serves alcohol. ||Oralech talks about the old nightwings while having his arms around tizo and volfred the entire time|| the beonders invite the nightwigns into the crystal one year and they all have a large feast (although mysteriusly everyone is still hungry after the party)

He doesn't want to wear a crown because he's afraid of looking silly and childish, until he sees Jodi solemnly letting -ae decorate her horns. (Dalbert cheerfully wears the biggest crown of all.)
