I concur with you guys, Pyre is my personal favourite too.
But this discussion goes beyond gameplay, and while I do admit Hades feels like the dynamite-boosted version of Transistor's & Bastion's core gameplay (especially the latter), I resonate most with Pyre aesthetics & writing out of anything else in it, and while I certainly hope SSG keeps on trying to vary on their gameplay formula (or even completely stray away from it), I feel like we might very well find something akin to Pyre no matter what direction SSG goes towards.

The entire pull of the game for me, besides character design which is what caught my interest initially, is the idea of bonding with the characters and then having stakes

Not to sound like a masochistic glutton for punishment but I love the idea of being in charge of their fates and having to make risky decision with consequences

I hate comparing things to undertale but it’s just such an emotional investment and draw for me when you feel as if you’re a character in the game and what you do impacts the story and outcomes and relationships

but while the game took great care to show you the backstory of each character, gave them their dungeons and stuff, it didn't linger on the emotional bonds their presence created in the party, so it's not the same. I love that game but it could've told it story a lot better imho

I tried to assume that everyone would want to get out of the downside, even those who said they wanted to stay, but prioritized empathy first in regards to pamithas sister, dalbert (but thankfully his team didn’t make it to the liberation rite. We just let him win a lot lol), and oralech. Everyone else was fair game, and I tried to listen to everyone wishes I.e. letting hedwyn stay until jodi and rukey went up first, keeping Ti’zo and gae together, and oralech to a degree if it came to that. Who would help the plan, keeping Sandra with me but staying in the downside so that the orb could stay down there in case the rites started again, eventually.

i just sent everyone up in the order i decided, in roughly the order they joined (barring ti'zo), didn't lose a match i don't think (tho it was close several times), never lost a lib rite, oralech died because we beat him and i sent volfred up instead of me even though i didn't like him..........

Pam did the unambiguously right thing turning Tam in, because she was planning terrorist attacks.

Harpy brethren or not, sisters or not, stopping Tamitha from carrying out those attacks was the right thing to do.

All of Pam's guilt hinges on the fact she turned her sister in, no matter how much Tamitha deserved a lock and key of some sort.

I'll be honest, from a purely pragmatic point of view, I don't see the difference in exiling Tam from any other way to keep her from killing people.

In a perfect world, with incarceration whose point actually was rehabilitation, I don't think she would.

I think that all the stances of all the characters involved make perfect sense for them, and the fact that Pam agonizes over a situation that from my point of view is so hopeless and not worth it hurts in a good way

For the record, the extent of their reconciliation if they end in the same place:

Their reunion was not as amicable as Pamitha might have hoped, and Tamitha, still resentful of their history together, turned violent.
Pamitha would later brush aside the incident, though always had an injury to show for it. Yet, from that point on, the blood-sisters were back on speaking terms. At least for the most part.

Tamitha did later learn that Pamitha was welcomed back by their people. However, she never responded to her blood-sister's attempts to contact her.
Pamitha, in turn, did not expect forgiveness from her at any point. Nonetheless, she kept on trying to reach out, she said, to “ruffle up her feathers just a bit.”

(this is with Pam topside. The wording is almost identical in the opposite scenario)

I didn't actually get the whole endings idea of Pyre my first time, so I just restarted a bunch when playing to make sure as many of my characters could escape as possible. It was only at the end that I realized that you are supposed to sometimes let your opponent win for them to escape.

Volfred mentions that the Messenger Imps don't actually cross between the Downside and the Commonwealth, they can just get closer to the borders between the two than anyone else

Perhaps only if you can get close enough can you pass a message from one side or the other
