Endgame
||Red: kills herself
record scratch
Boxer: You already know how we got here. But what you might want to know is what happened if they got here
(portraits of camerata appears, sybil's lights up, you move the cursor and each portrait lights up, upon selecting Sybil you see the game run in reverse through all the major scenes and your back at the beginnging, but the game glitches out got a second, and suddenly sybil is standing there. She pulls out the transistor and unlocks her first ability, "Sing()"||
we gotta get Sunkrish Bala back in for a Royce voice mod
I am not opposed
Dang it I shouldn’t have clicked on the spoilers ;-;
Oof
Oof feels bad
Though we did tell ya that it's end game or the ending lol
||man I wasn’t expecting it to be that dark||
||Should she really be considered dead if she is living inside the Transistor? If Cloudbank is a simulation, like the inside of the Transistor, what makes living in the Transistor any different?||
the dlc could be a farming simulator
||people out here assuming Cloudbank is a simulation. I get it, and I won't argue against it, but I think it's more interesting to take the game's setting at face-value||
||I like to think Cloudbank is a sim because some of the cyber punk stuff, most notably the teleporty and distance stuff in Fairview, that wouldn't make sense to me if it wasnt a sim||
Does it matter how many layers deep you are in a simulation? If you're perceiving and have agency isn't that life?
||depth in the real world confuses me, so maybe we are living in a sim too||
||If we're in a sim, why couldn't we be in pre-Transistor Cloudbank? It seems so much cooler. The circuit boards are always greener in somebody else's sim||
||seeing red about to kill itself was just pain
, just me shouting "no, no,no"|| <- transistor ending
every week #transistor isn't bot spammed, its instead | | spoiler spammed ||
Wonderful game. I remember sitting at home with my PS4 playing transistor and being amazed at how I could be so much more immersed in transistor than I was in any of the other fancy 3D ps4 games. I’ve since bought it On every other platform and I hope to see more of these game son mobile. It’s nice to have something premium on there. Esp with the beautiful artwork and music
Do y'all recommend getting this game in 2021?
I think its aged well, sure! There aren't many games with this sort of customizable weapon system, and the story is beautiful
how similar does the combat feel to hades?
the game looks like hades but sci-fi from an artstyle and camera perspective?
just asking so Ik what to expect
Yeah the artstyle and the perspective are gonna be very similar
I think I'll pick it up on steam
The combat is different, because it's not a roguelike, it's an rpg
alright, thanks
The combat animation feel similar, but moment to moment you have a lot more you can do in transistor
There's a lot of variety of options
Transistor's combat is usually a lot slower than hades
and its fun to see what mechanics are in both games and how they changed between transistor and hades
A lot easier to get the athena legendary in transistor
||Is the spine of the world the final boss?||
Ok lmao I was like “man this feels final boss-y I didn’t think I’d get there that quickly”
reached the spine section again
seeing sword bf acting like that is
now that i reached asher and grant i remember how much of a shock it was the first time meeting them and expecting a boss battle only to be met with
oh god forgot about the scene with the stage full of the process
We all become, paper boats and the spine are some of the best songs I've ever seen in a video game
agreed
Hear*
Just realized I can't see music lmao
In particular I love the Royce voice acting.
and you're dragging it. like that. on the ground.
Red stares at his floating TV and very pointedly spins in a circle, keeping the Transistor in contact with the ground the entire time.
does the song "signals" from the OST play in the game? I don't recall
oh! 😳 I didn't know there was an apple TV version! thanks :D
Signals was for the trailer I think?
Signals does not appear in game. It’s a spicy little bonus story track. (Not sure about the trailers)
Bruh how do you play transistor with an Apple TV remote?
I was thinking the same thing with dead cells yesterday
And transistor is more complicated
Probably a late reply, but you can hook up a Bluetooth controller to an Apple TV
ok but the sheer energy emanating from a person playing transistor with an apple tv remote is much much more intimidating than with a controller
Just finished the game, ||much sadder than I thought it would be.||
welcome to the pain
||is the spine art style thing inspired by anyone?||
Yeh thanks
||i think it's nice she got to live with her love rather than alone in a city consisting of a cat and thats about it||
but yeah, mood
Wait there’s a cat?
Anybody have any unusual function combos they enjoy?
Thinking about doing a fresh run and want to change up my gameplay a bit
Cull(spark) is flashy as hell
Asher Kendrell's cat
Oh yes
Okay but the sound track is so good
Like I’ve been listening to it non-stop while I’m working
how can you work while you're crying
✨ Practice ✨
Hi there! Not sure if this is the correct place to ask for this (maybe fan work?), but I need a little help: I'm building the Transistor sword IRL, and (thanks to a VolpinProps video) I heard that the sword voicelines were recorded again separately for prop making purposes. Is there any way to legally acquire the mp3 files?
You could reach out to the devs on their website's contact page, and you could also ask in the modding server pinned in #self-promotion --they tend to know of a lot of resources
In Circles has really grown on me
Same! I think it’s my favourite song in the soundtrack now
It’s one my favorites as well
i agree, except for the fact that the really neat gameplay never ends
honestly, i like waiting a bit in Turn mode just to listen to the humming
i also use turn as a free get out of panic jail card
My favorite still the Spine… but in circles to. And Paperboats. Gosh there’s so much of good music. I want Tr2 to be real.
i ambivalent
im sure they could make something work with the setting if they wanted to, but i like Supergiant making something truly new every time
I’d love more Transistor content, but I don’t think it should (or could) be a sequel
There's definitely space to theoretically add more content within the game, in the form of areas, narrative details/context, or even a new function (or something else).
(That being said, I don't think the game really needs any of that, it's a complete experience that I thoroughly enjoyed)
Cool
I’ve been tinkering with Void more lately. Quite powerful with the right upgrades.
I just realized the song ("Tangent") that plays when Royce is talking through the floating TV, is so called that because Royce is going on a tangent, talking with vague direction and droning on continuously, and also because it's a math thing wherein it's a point or straight line on a curve (I guess because Royce is trying to make a point? Or maybe its just a math pun thingy).
Just weird thoughts that come up when listening to the soundtrack at 12 am
it's the point where Royce's life (his tangent) intersects Red's arc (story-wise and mathematically XD)
also idk but the shape of a tangent kind of reminds me of the upside down fun that happens at that point in the game
It does!!!!
Red's songs in transistor OST are seriously so good. Ashley & Darren could do like a collab & make a Red album... That'd be amazing
She could be like one of those artists with a cartoon persona like gorillaz/studio killers
i heard a transistor song in a shopping mall toilet
which one
Water Wall XD
*walking through mall *
*paper boats comes on *
Me: Starts sobbing
Other Person across the Plaza: Starts sobbing
- We lock eyes, its love at first sight *
PA System: Sorry *sniffles * wrong song, *she shines comes on * perfect
?
decided to finish another playthrough
Reaching the "estimate poblation: 1% and sword bf comment of "probably rounded up"

in other thoughts, i still love royce voice, it just fits
ending reached, crying time
anyone got interesting or OP function combos to try out in recursion?
you can get two copies of the same function in recursion, right? i recall someone here mentioning Void+Void once
like, Void in an active slot supplemented by another Void
sounded interesting but i've never tried it
which one was void again?
the one that weakens enemies, making your next attack against them do way more damage
oh yeah
||one of the Camerata's functions...Asher's, maybe?||
||yeah i think it was asher's||
It does sound interesting
Next recursion I'll be sure to check it out
i probably will considering void is one of my most used functions lol
yeah you get doubles of everything by completing recursion. Some of the Function^2 combinations are pretty goofy
the only one I remember clearly is Breach(Breach), which for whatever reason will bounce off walls? I guess it couldn'tr eally have even more of a piercing property, so...
Breach(Breach) is fun as hell
You feel so boss when you land a real-time Breach(Breach) to end an encounter
I'm thinking about getting a thigh tattoo of the transistor sword and want your guys opinion and also see what your transistor sword tatts look too
But now I realized there's no upload button on this channel 😅
you can share images with a hosting site like Imgur or by uploading to another server and sharing the image link
ah, that's the message link--you need the image link specifically ("share" the image on mobile, or right click -> copy link on pc)
oh oop
or that was to this server lmao
nevermind
Yeah I don't know why the preview image isn't showing.....
you need this type of link--
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/456936596227358720/875162297750937640/transistor_tattoo.png
the image link as opposed to the message link
Ah that's what you mean, thank you so much
sure thing ^.^
also I don't know anything about tattoos but that looks cool!
Thank you : ) I heard things about white ink being problematic so I'm a little unsure about the amount of it I'll need for this piece
yeah..
the first time i finished it i was visiting my extended family, and i cried in front of them
I saw this girl on tiktok that looks almost exactly like Red
oh?
Her account is @/2cooljess
IKR???
The resemblance is uncanny
I pretty much only just started the game but I like it a lot so far
Combat is fun and story seems interesting too
So see you when I finish the game ig
This game make me
everytime
haha sameee
I finished the game
That was good
Also
||it must hurt to be stabbed with a sword that blunt lol||
As opposed to a regular one?
I guess that does it too
stabbing implies a piercing motion. And if you were stabbed by something blunt, it had to be a hell of a lot of impact force to work
or disintegration
Is this game or the others as good as hades
Yes
Yes
While it is amazing, no, it's not as good as Hades. Supergiant have improved over the years, have a larger team, and Hades had both more production value and more refinement via Early Access.
I still prefer Transistor, though.
I think transistor is as good as hades 100%
Comparing the games is really just academic and not practical, since they are completely different genres imo.
agreed
Sg has overall gotten better at making games, yes, but I'd still take bastion over hades any day because I'm just not a rogue fan
They are incrementally more ambitious games, I'd say, but they hit such different genres and tones that everyone's gonna have their different fave...
I enjoyed both games a lot but I definitely think there’s going to be a segment of Hades fans that wouldn’t like Transistor all that much
Which tracks are your favourite?
i've been hearing in circles a lot more than other tracks but i love all of it
For me, it's between We All Become, The Spine, and In Circles

and without vocal tracks i think blank canvas or old friends
I find it to be better imo, but I'm probably biased because fixation
Heck, I'm sure there's a segment of Transistor fans who don't like Hades very much!
Roguelikes aren't for everyone. 🤷♀️
Doesn't mean either is a "bad game" - just means SGG has range. 🤣
i like roguelikes but idk hades just doesn't seem like a game i'd enjoy lol
I for one don't like action games so I'm happily in the Transistor&Pyre corner... I appreciate Bastion's plot from afar, Hades doesn't do it for me narratively either, whatevs.
It's like trying to argue about which is the best Final Fantasy game. It's comparing apples to oranges, and everyone has slightly different tastes.
Indeed!
Well the majority of FF is apples to apples until like 13, 11 excluded
I think I almost break my controller on meg. I died simultaneously killing her.
run ended
Not touching that game for weeks
that said, transistor is a hard game to put in a category. its weird ATB/RTwP/Strategy-Salad combat doesn't easily lend itself to labels unlike....Bastion: The Isometric Action Game
Yeah that combination approach can speak to some people really well, meanwhile I think I was kind of offputt by how it couldn’t decide whether to be turn based or real time
Still liked the game
I loved it because I'm the kind of flailing turn-based-RPG-loving gamer who spends action games desperately wishing I could hit "pause", catch my breath for two seconds, and plan out what I'm going to do next
so it was like a lovely fairy waved her wand and granted my heart's desire 😅
Here you go, darling, an action game you can enjoy completely~ 🌟
I didnt even know what was the game genre
i was just playong other games of supergiant, saw the description of the game
"Omg, this sounds cool"
i remembered that it existed but, knew nothing about it and so i watched a playthrough and yeah
now i have the game and on my second playthrough
this is the first game I installed on my first laptop I got
saw it on a watchmojo vid and was like "yep getting that"
Is it just me or is the final boss’s voice some quality ASMR
his voice is amazing
I confess there have been a non-zero number of times when I have used a YouTube video of all his voice lines to help me sleep at night
Transistor does have valid criticism on it’s gameplay during it’s launch days. It’s gameplay, ultimately, was counter-intuitive, you’re smashing enemies in your Turn but have to desperately fend for your life during Turn recovery, it’s pretty pace breaking. It works fine on boss battles, but during regular battles with a very crowded room, it’s does feel bad
You will always have to get either the dash or the invisibility on your build, or you’ll die. Leading to builds having 1-2 slots of the same moves
Other than that though, it’s pretty fresh, if you don’t mind the pace-breaking gameplay loop, it’s pretty fun playing it
I remember it took some time for Transistor to really get the credit it deserves, because of the gameplay issues people were facing at launch
that's a common loop to fall into, but it's not the only one
you can fight outside of turn, and hit turn when everything lines up, and then everything dead at your recovery, for example
it's not fun to be desperately turning and it is common for new players, but it's avoidable
That’s the thing, it’s common enough that people feel it’s an awkward loop
Yeah, we can avoid it with experience, but, they still didn’t nail their first impression as great imo
i probly wont talk too much in here cuz its been years since ive played Transistor but this was the only game ive loved enough to actually get the platinum trophy for lol
my second platinum will be Hades lol
Nice
counterpoint: royce cute af
Idk what ur countering but ur right
can anyone tell me where transistor keeps its save data? I want to start a completely new game
Nvm, turns out the save file locations are mentioned on the site
you can start a completely new game without wiping your old save - there are multiple profiles
Yeah you have to load a save, then start a new one through the pause menu. It’s a little awkward
Always throwing me off that there‘s no main menu - no real need for it, but it‘s such a common thing and normally a safe place that it feels missing
i tried playing the game for the first time but i couldnt change the resolution everytime i change it it wouldnt save, its locked at 1920 1080 any help ?
could you try launching the game as admin? Or if you're using a launcher, start that as admin
are you having fun so far?

Just some thoughts back when I played this masterpiece years ago...
I believe that Transistor ||especially the 2nd playthrough, enhanced this certain virtual horror vibe that I felt in those introductory sequences...|| I hope its just me who got spooked when ||he exclaimed that "the whole gang is here" when you have finally accessed your function menu on that 2nd run, showing the functions that you got from the 1st run.||
||There is something eerie about those parts of the 2nd run.||
Especially when you consider that ||when you do any recursions, it's Royce that says "We're not getting away with this, are we?" instead of Boxer/Unknown||. Game knows how to invoke subtle horror elements.
||oh god when i did my first recursion and i heard royce's voice it startled me||
Same. ||Then I got so used to his voice that hearing Boxer's on a new file confused me.||
Recently i re watched a lot of the cutscenes and just now noticed that the one where you check the posterd at the start, when leaving it you can see the shadow of the lady enemy
I got like
So, I started recursion, why Am I able to choose the functions I already have? Does this have any effect on gameplay?
the game will account for your increased power by throwing harder enemies at you
you get two uses of the program in your build, the extra copy can be another upgrade or passive or whatever
you can also upgrade functions with themselves
At the very beginning you will be stuck using your last load-out from the boss fight though. At least until you get to an access point
Thanks!
man, Transistor is the most elegant and romantic and serene horror game you'll ever play. it's right there under the beautiful surface.
the ||apocalyptic logs|| from Amelia, the way your weapon is subsuming the ||digital ghosts of those murdered by the Camerata, starting with your boyfriend who then (benevolently) haunts you for the rest of the game||, those numbers ticking down on the terminals as the Process steadily ||consumes the entire population of Cloudbank|| just offscreen...
the way the environment around you is inexorably breaking down into sterile blank white space! 😬
it's a cosmic horror story in a distractingly gorgeous art deco gown.
i introduced some songs from the transistor ost to my sister a while ago and she told me that she wants to play the game now!!!!
im so happy transistor is one of my fave games + the soundtrack is amazing
now she'll be able to hear all the songs in action and experience the story too
I don't like the interpretation that the citizens of cloudbank don't have free will
Democracy is a very strong theme in transistor
Can i ask gameplay questions abt transistor here?
yes, of course!
I mean its not really a gameplay but loret of a bug problem, i think
||I just finished the game on steam offline (Internet problems) when i got Internet back it didn't seem to detect the end achievement. If i finish recurse mode will ill be able to get the end achievement too?||
i dont think it will. you might need to replay the game normally (by selecting a new profile from the settings) in order to unlock that achievement
recursion will probably only unlock the recursion achievement
These 4 songs are my favorite in any game: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7DwHKURVPnfYDGvMmEDQ7P?si=y_LKW2GfTOaPI4tLRedy8Q&dl_branch=1
I have like the exact same playlist
you dont name your playlists?
but like yeah i 100% those four songs are literally my favorites
Signals is underrated
i feel like its a bit too slow for my taste but idk
Any D&D homebrew aficionados here? I'm working on adapting the transistor, functions, and process enemies as custom homebrew and would love to have someone to provide feedback on implementation and balance.
Which version of D&D?
5e
Yes 👀
I can't promise rapid turnaround, since I'm already reviewing a lot of homebrew for my school's D&D club, but I'm happy to look over anything when I have the time
I'm very familiar with homebrew though, especially balancing it alongside existing content (or intentionally unbalancing it, if that's your cup of tea)
Sounds awesome! I'm building it on DnD Beyond, so if you want access to it, you can join this campaign I made just for that purpose. https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/23068371490717671
Hmm, will need to wait until I can get onto my computer. Currently all three of my accounts are full on characters, so I'll need to export and delete one lmao
I'll save the link though
Lol. I use aurora for my character creation nowadays so I don't have to worry about limits. I'm not 100% sure how sharing homebrew works from the perspective of looking at specific creations, but hopefully its not terrible
It's decent. Monsters are the hardest to look up, but I can use the "Extras" tab and search through that. Items, spells, and feats all show up nicely (all of that through a character sheet, since there isn't a good way to just search up specific homebrew)
Maybe I'll make a public character with all the stuff I've made so its easy to access then
A friend is trying to launch Transistor, but it won't even boot to title. It spins like Steam is trying to launch it, but no dice. Any ideas?
Verify file integrity, maybe reinstall? And also check computer specs
Way over specs, reinstalled already, verified already
Could try the launch options in #h1-tech-fixes , the GaInput ones might work
Alright, just went through all of those, no dice.
Mmkay. Busy right now, will see if I can find anything later. For now, I'd use the supergiant games Contact page for support
could also work to have a doc somewhere listing the various things you've made. Joined the campaign with a character, look for one named "Swan"
started looking through, wall of text incoming
In D&D 5e, there are a few key differences between Legendary items and Artifacts. The Transistor ticks most of those boxes, but Artifacts also give a few randomized properties (some combination of Minor & Major Beneficial / Detrimental properties, described in the DMG).
In all honesty, it would probably be fitting for the Transistor to have a couple of those, based on this description:
An artifact might have other properties that are either beneficial or detrimental. You can choose such properties from the tables in this section or determine them randomly. You can also invent new beneficial and detrimental properties. These properties typically change each time an artifact appears in the world.
An artifact can have as many as four minor beneficial properties and two major beneficial properties. It can have as many as four minor detrimental properties and two major detrimental properties.
Looking at the Functions (just cantrips for now):
Get() is a bit powerful, for a cantrip. That being said, the disadvantage imposed for a long-range attack should balance it out.
Jaunt() is a bit funky, and I'm not as sure about how accurately it fits the Function, but movement is movement, and movement in D&D is funky. It seems reasonably balanced, though I'd want to see it in action to be sure. The wording could also be significantly simplified, I can write something up at some point.
I'm chortling at Ping()--someone in my club proposed a similar idea recently, with a spell that could be either an action or a bonus action. 1d8 is way too much though, for a guaranteed damage cantrip. Magic Missile is a first-level spell that deals 1d4+1 * 3, and it also has multiple common counters, such as Shield or a Brooch of Shielding. Combining the two here would be brutal, 3d4+1d8+3 guaranteed force damage, at the cost of one spell slot.
.
Overall though, from what I've seen--good thoughts, and I'm excited to look through the rest
(also, props for getting that many custom things looking relatively nice with D&D Beyond's Homebrew tool, it can be tricky sometimes)
Dang! thanks for all the feedback! I didn't know of those special aspects of artifacts, I'll have to think about what detriments I could add...
Also, I'm concerned if you're seeing the old version of Ping() that auto-hit. It's definitely a roll-to-hit thing now. Feel free to DM me with stiff btw
ah, D&D Beyond's homebrew can take a while to update sometimes, no worries
and note that not all artifacts have detrimental effects, and not all of them have beneficial effects
i see this and like..... inflict wounds is a first level that does 3d10 and guiding bolt does 4d6 lol, imo 1d8 isnt bad at all. firebolt is 1d10 :/
1d8 is honestly fairly balanced
the 1d4 + disad from viscous mockery isnt even a confirm, its a wis save
eldritch blast is a d10, etc etc 1d8 sholud be fine imo also when it comes to homebrew in general you wont know how actually powerful it is until you play it
also depends on the hp of the enemies assuming its all homebrewed
the version that I was looking at wasn't just 1d8 though, it was an auto-hit that could be stacked with other effects for really good action economy. I'll look at it again when it updates for me
I absolutely agree that the main way to know is to test ^.^
Oh sweet, that's awesome!
Omg I clicked to join and it brought up my characters, and I totally forgot that I made a character named Royce Brackett 😂

I think I am about to roll credits soon I am at the top
The top of the tower?
oh no.................
what
Just rolled credits
Does anyone know if Asher's cat has a name?
I need ask-supergiant to come back for this
unless there's something buried in the game files, I don't believe it has an official/public name. It's possible it has a back-end nickname the way a lot of SG characters do
I need ask-supergiant to come back for a bunch of reasons, but that is a very good one!
now i’m wondering: what would asher name his cat? i’d guess, but i don’t know his mind
I like to try to give the cat a different name in every fic I mention it in. So far that’s only 2 but still 😅
i've started calling the cat mittens or socks
im not very creative with naming animals
aw
over my two fics I've named it "Mimi" and "Glitch", one author I've read uses "Midnight" which I think is really cute
mimi is really cute :0
||It was a very sad ending 😭||
||very bittersweet||
still coping to this day XD
Just watched the Noclip documentary
I really need to watch those noclip documentaries. Maybe this weekend I'll binge all the SGG runs.
Anyone know where I can the highest quality version of the Cloudbank wallpaper from Transistor?
if not SG's site, might actually be Steam, weirdly? I think it's one of the wallpapers you can get for Steam
Dunno if Steam stores hq versions somewhere, but the standard one is 1920x1200 and looks alright, but it's obviously a .jpg which you can see in the darker gradients https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/items/237930/d810a7a873f2bdd3500ac59475e4f68526d72b39.jpg
(don't mind the discord preview which is much worse)
oh that one
hey guys so I've got a problem
when Im starting Transistor the loading screen is fluid but as soon as I come into the Game I have 2 FPS and evrythin is laggy .. if I hit ESC the lag is gone
I reinstalled the game twice now and dowloaded it from the Epic Games launcher
does anyone know how I can fix this ?
(a few Hours ago I tried to start it and there it worked but now its bugged again)
alright .. I JUST found the Problem ...
haveing a controller or in my case a wireless Controller adapter plugged in makes the game lagg ...
I don't remember for sure, but you might be able to fix it by disabling vibration instead of unplugging the adapter entirely
I just barely meet the minimum specs for transistor
Did you try to reinstall the drivers for the controller?
anyone know if Transistor on EGS is getting achievements? I would love that
Good
Me: [buying Transistor on PS Store because it's on discount]
PS Store: "Processing..."
Me:
I don't get why you all say the ending was sad
I just finished the Game and found It very poethic tbh
Not really a sad ending, in a way
I think that is a better ending that the other possibility
I would probably do the same tbh
Specially in that kind of world
We're all Royce apologists and Royce thinks it's tragic
speak for yourself, I think all the Camerata members suck, specially Royce 😆
Yes they suck
Where are all the Royce fans when I need them 😅
im a Royce voice fan, does that count
Hey, you can't just write off the entire Camerata
Asher's cat did nothing wrong 💕
the only camerata member I can't feel at least a tiny bit sympathetic for is sybil lol
Sybil.... Beloved
i got the impression that Asher was in way over his head when he got involved with the camerata. so: i have somewhat more sympathy for him than for the rest of them
and the cat is of course totally innocent
transistor music is one of the biggest bop
Can agree to that, Transistor and Pyre had very good music that lends a lot to it’s feel
Felt Hades was weaker in this regards
Hello, I know this isn't a speedrunning discord, but i'm pretty sure some of you are here. I'm trying to find speedrunners specifically for Bingo's. Please DM me if you know someone! Been trying to find them for years so I really hope you can help me out! 🙂
umm it's kinda hard to explain bingo speedruns 😄 but someone made a bingoboard for transistor
wanted to sent a picture of such a board here but it seems not possible
Imgur links work, that's the usual way
Bingos are basically 5x5 randomized boards of "do x thing" where speedrunners compete to get a "bingo" (5 in a row) first
Are diagonals allowed? I can never remember
Having a bingo board feels kinda odd for a linear game, I've only really seen it in games like BotW
I can kinda see how it works though
Yeah I don't know the rules specifically for transistor, it can be challenging to do a bingo in linear games
Certain points are purely speed related, while others are about playstyle
I think the fun part from a bingo is that you play the game totally different each time
if you go on runners profiles on speedrun.com theyll have social medias attached there, you could try and contact them there. though theres not a lot of activity for transistor from what i can see there, theres only 2 kind of active
ty @cedar grove I will contact them there
if anyone here is interested in doing a bingo for fun the website to generate a board is called bingosync
thanks for your talks!
does EGS even have achievements?
oh mb i just realized how old that is
it does now I believe
yea, select games have achievements now on EGS, and the feature should be rolling out more generally soon
hey, does anyone have any songs that remind them of transistor? Lyrics wise or sound wise?
Yes in fact I’ve been compiling a playlist from my own library of songs that give me Transistory vibes
all of my playlists are for characters and ocs lol
I’ll type it up when I’m at my computer bc it’s hard to go back and forth on mobile (I don’t into Spotify so I don’t have a link)
i should work on a transistor playlist tho..
Same
Sorted by artist in no particular order but the bulk of my Transistory vibes playlist looks like
-"Video Killed the Radio Star", "Sweet Dreams Seven Nation Army Mashup" by Pomplamoose

impulse bought transistor now that it's on sale!! can't wait to start playing it :D
Yes good
ok it took me a bit to understand what was going on and what i was supposed to do but i think i'm getting it
It is really good. Tho it might be hard to get used to the mechanics at first
brendan byrnes' music is Big Transistor Vibes, if you can take some weird stuff
specifically the vocal tracks on neutral paradise
oh no
@ that person who asked for music
What update are you missing
What device are you playing it on?
i assume it’s iPad? not sure if Transistor is available for phones
It is available for smartphones, both on iOS and Android
The problem here is either different screen aspect ratio, screen notches or new OS updates
At least that’s what I can think of off the top of my head right now
iPhone 13 Pro Max
game runs at like 30fps
ik this phone ain’t that weak 😤
I don’t think the game even runs at 60fps on smartphones
i can run genshin maxed 60fps
The game fps itself is locked
yea
wish they update it to better make use of newer more powerful devices
Also this is the best build don’t @me
Judging from the screenshot there, there’s even a little UI bug
What lol
And it seems like it doesn’t take the whole screen of your phone?
Which is why I asked what your phone is
Yeah, the game needs some updating, the last updates were just the notch supports back when iPhone X first came out. But, tbh though, I don’t think the game will be updated anytime soon unless a major bug happened during the annual iOS updates
Nowadays, mostly I’ve seen these old games gets updated only for that reason
The Square Enix games on iOS are notorious to break on pretty much every iOS annual updates lol
guys, are there any plans on implementing achievements for transistor on epic store?
that'd be great, yeah!
transistor good
true true
so true
Every time I listen to Paper Boats instead of "that silent guide" i hear "that silent guy" lmao
Same
Wait, is not the second thing?
crowd applauding and cheering
A crowd of cluckers, awaiting your performance
i still get chills at that part
I should buy this on switch
Well
I have heard
Around 5 seconds of transistor music
In a video
I was completely captivated
I was never this hooked on a game my entire life
Anyway
It's downloading rn
I found out about it 30m ago
i just finished my first run
verdict?
is transistor able to run on potato just like hades . i mean hades ran a stable 30 on intel hd 520 with 4gb ram. can i expect same with transistor
it should be able to run, I'm not sure though
I would expect it to run too, but if you‘re on Steam you can just try it out for two hours anyway and refund if necessary
It also lists the minimum requirements on the Steam page
Transistor should be less intensive than Hades, it’s quite a bit older
Dude transistor music is so good
The only thing about Transistor (unless it was patched) is it always wanted to force my native resolution instead of a playable resolution so it wouldn't run well.
I eventually just bought a computer that could run it no problem but that's beside the point
I have never
Felt soo much emotion while playing a game
It's more of a form of art
Like a book
Or a drawing
It tells its story and lets you feel and experience it
It has probably set some unreal expectations on other games I will be playing in the future
I have the whole soundtrack downloaded

Oh it will...
I agree wholly
It's a really really unique experience, not just as a video game but as an artistic piece of media
the soundtrack slaps ive never played but i just looked it up
i might have to play now
It’s good. It’s a mashup of different genres and it doesn’t lean it too heavily into any one of those, but it works great
During the time of it’s release, it’s gameplay was phenomenal, and I think it stands the test of time rather well, and the elements of it serves as a sorts of prototype for Hades
darren korb has decribed the transistors ost in one of the q+a's as 'old world electronic post rock'
If anything, I might've wished the OST to lean more towards the bleak rock side of post rock but in general the electronic part is what fits most to the world
is transistor worth droppin 20 bucks on?
i love hades and was super impressed
and now i want to try more of this genre
as i usually only play fps games
ya
ok
I can only recommend it (greatest game ever made etc etc) but you can just use Steam's 2h refundable playtime and check if you like the vibe - it only gets better. The combat is different but you can recognize some elements, but tbh I find the setting just much more appealing in general
the art looks amazing and as i said before the soundtrack is beautiful but im worried more at the combat since hades is very comfortable for me as its similar to other non fps games ive played and after watching a haelian vid on transistor idk if the pause mechanic is really for me
i much prefer short games
You get into the action fairly quickly so you can judge it from early on, and tbh the turn/pause mechanic doesn't really feel like a turn-based element at all (if that's your concern) - I despise turn-based games and I like Transistor's combat a lot
ok
ill try it
the setting looks really interesting tho
i like the blues and greens a lot
YES
Well, most of the time, your gameplay loop is going into Turn mode, plan out your moves, executing them, and waiting for your cooldown to end while using your dodge and invisibility skills to dodge the enemies
It’s not what I would consider turn-based (it’s not exactly you vs your enemies back and forth taking turns) but it does have this action-wait-action-wait kinda feel
The Turn function does get a bit better later on as you unlock more variety in abilities. The combat engine does also support real-time combat if that’s more your thing. Turn is encouraged, but it is possible (if perhaps challenging) to do a lot of the game without it
I bought it
Good
Tryna get the transistor 100% before 2022
same except I stopped immediately after my first roguelike/general pve and a old style weapon game and now I cannot stand them
im changeable that way
guys I beat the spine of the world and
help this guy is probably an a-hole but he sounds like thanatos
might be the same VA, don't remember off the top of my head
p sure it is that's definitely Than lmao
asher and than have the same va
very noticable when i replayed transistor after playing hades
don’t disrespect hedwyn or the sahrian language. OR do your disrespecting in the #pyre channel
👻 gibberish 👻
man though the part where you go inside the spine and stab its heart is so cool
so the functions you unlock that have people's profiles attached to them, are those all people that've been killed by the Transistor?
most of them, i think… ||the camerata’s functions|| may be an exception?
I kinda just realized that now lmao I was just like "What are all of these OTHER people doing in my sword"
They’ve been there all along!
The spine section is really one my favourites sections and the dialogue from the transistor is sad
More like, the Transistor kinda gets their essence, as in the first (or third, depending on how you see it) Function you get in the game
Haven’t played for so long, but I think I remembered the Transistor absorbing the essence (or soul?) of said person
Yeah
From what I understood, the Transistor can absorb the traces of people in 3 ways. From directly killing them, from absorbing them shortly after death, and from being a User (ie Red)
I think it can also partially absorb people with a glancing blow, like how it got Reds voice at the beginning of the game. ||Seems to be that being a current user protects you from that somewhat, as we see with Royce at the end||
Hey I just installed the game but it isnt recognising my controller
I have a m1 mac
and am using a nintendo switch pro controller
You could try using Steam's big picture mode
I did
do you have switch pro config support turned on?
Yeah I have the same problem with my dualshock4. I've tried everything on the tech support page but couldn't find gamecontrollerdb.txt in the game files
Works fine on every other game
You could try Disabling Steam Input in the game's properties (accessed from the Steam Library). If that doesn't work, forcing it to Enable Steam Input might
Tried Forced On, Forced Off, Global Setting. None of it worked
You could try the other steps in #h1-tech-fixes for controller issues? (I know that's for Hades, but there's usually some overlap)
Hi all! I'm hoping someone here might help me with a problem in trying to play Transistor. I recently installed the game and it immediately closes every time I try to launch it. Steam says the game is running for a moment, and then goes back to normal as if I hadn't pressed play.
I've verified the integrity of the Steam files, I tried direct launching from the game files, both x64 and x86, as administrator, I tried turning off the Steam overlay in-game option, but nothing is letting this game launch.
Does anyone have an idea of how I might get it running? I'd really like to finally play this game, especially after thoroughly enjoying Bastion and Hades.
There're some things you can also try here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/237930/discussions/0/558756256586842153/
Hey, thank you for your interest in Transistor. If you're experiencing any issues with the game, please visit the technical support FAQ on our web site for the latest information, or continue reading. We'll use this post to aggregate any issues that come to our attention and keep you posted about any solutions.
Thanks! I'll take a look
It looks like I'm getting the kernelbase.dll issue popping up in my event viewer. I ran the sfc scan in the command prompt, but the game is still throwing that error
It looks like that error can be related to the graphic card driver, so have you updated it to the latest one? And if you're on Windows and you already done that, I'd recommend checking if the driver you have is indeed the latest, as I noticed that doing so by Windows "Search automatically for drivers" doesn't always download the latest one for some reason...
Yep, updated my Nvidia card earlier today. I noticed I have some new Windows updates waiting, so I guess that's my next step when I'm back at my computer
Worth trying, as well as reinstalling the game completely.
Spoiler to ending

Hey, guys, I started my first ever playthrough of Transistor this week (no spoilers in messages directed to me, please 😊)!
I'm spending way more time in menus than I ever expected to, but I'm also having way more fun than I expected to! I'm a little confused as to why they gave me what appears to be the best function in the entire game, Jaunt(), so early.
Hello again, my friends! I finally return!
And I bring news regarding my Transistor shooter idea, being that I finalized out the cast, gameplay, and story!
So uh
Inquire inside (DMs)
Or here if you want
But the final cast of characters is 31 in total, consisting of:
The Pilot (Aileron)
The Hunter (Callsign TBD)
The Poet (Oblivia)
The Psychologist (Pneuma)
The Model (Callsign TBD)
The Actor (Callsign TBD)
The Freerunner (Blitz)
The Mercenary (Callsign TBD)
The Hacker (Nexus)
The Dancer (Gala)
The Croupier (Chancel)
The Android (Psi)
The Strongman (Warden)
The Paradox (Enigma)
The Commonfolk (Tyrant)
The Physicist (Vass)
The Mechanist (Haven)
The Firefighter (Thermion)
The Sniper (Kindred)
The Ecologist (Prism)
The Photographer (Callsign TBD)
The Gunsmith (Callsign TBD)
The Toxicologist (Sarin)
The Widow (Misère)
The Physician (Fate)
The Soldier (Lockhorn)
The Surgeon (Callsign TBD)
The Artist (Cahier)
The Chemist (Phonon)
The Astronomer (Quasar)
And a final secret character who'd be revealed as the final character
Also, the classes for those groupings in order are:
Primary Damage
Flank Damage
Frontline Defense
Backline Defense
Support
But yeah ask about any of 'em
that's...a lot of characters. are they all playable? do you unlock them over time?
I’m guessing it’s a lot since this is supposed to be customizable like the Transistor is? These are all Functions, I guess?
Looks a lot bigger (and more ambitious) than Transistor, that’s for sure
The general premise is that each of the characters has their own weaker version of the Transistor known as a Diode, which grants them a small level of immunity to the Process and allows them access of their own Function.
Each of the characters is playable and falls into the categories mentioned before, those being Lancer, Fringe, Vanguard, Sentinel, and Cavalry.
Keep in mind, that roster is solely of the characters that have been brewed up and have had their stories written for. There's no guarantee they'll make it into the game.
But each character has a super distinct power, some of which are more immense than others, and some having more adverse effects than the others
For example, the Hunter's, Freeze() simply allows her to generate ice, but the Poet's, Split(), rends them across dozens of different timelines, allowing them to manipulate reality, but are hindered by their own instability.
seems very ambitious, but a cool premise! curious as to what the genre of the game will be...party based rpg? action rpg? rougelike/lite? (apart from being a shooter game, that is)
on a different note, there's an obligation in this channel to mention Paper Boats every so often...i'm listening to it for the first time in few months. it's still a great song. doesn't help that i'm in a bit of an emotional mood already
Hero shooter, so think along the vein of Overwatch and Paladins and Valorant, but with a full story mode
Yeah but not run by Blizzard and without racist tropes
i.e: Hanzo looking like a tourist to the country he's from because like
w h y
Seriously, why would anybody use a bloody water gourd in 2077????
it's just casual japanese clothing it's not that deep
It's plenty of other issues too, that's just one of the more shallow ones
cough cough Reaper and Sombra cough cough
Anyway, moving on
The general idea is for it to be a first-person shooter, with the idea of potentially making a top-down MOBA version as well
So is this just transistor inspired, or would this be in the transistor universe?
In the same universe, set directly after the events of the game
after transistor? mind giving the rough plot?
Essentially, the few survivors of the outbreak each have a weaker version of the Transistor known as a Diode which allows them to fight back against the Process and grants them control of their own Function. Someone overheard Royce and Red's conversation, leading to a grapevine which resulted in this fight for the Transistor for the purpose of recreating the world in their image
no idea what any of the other games are about other then hades cause thats the only one i have
sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into it! i like the idea…sounds like a solid sequel
you should be warned, then, that the channels for the three older games all have spoilers. all three games are very much worth playing
Also, feel free to DM me if you wanna hear more about specific characters (Don't wanna flood chat lol)
Anyway, on a different vein, I thought of a unique little AU where Sybil is Red's partner instead of Auden.
The different variations would be: Auden and Sybil swap roles, Auden and Sybil are both hit in the attack and are both absorbed, Sybil is the only person hit, or Red is hit and control is transferred to Sybil
Basically, the role swap would be fairly basic. Sybil would still be an event planner, but she'd also be known as a fencer, hence how she met Red. Auden in this AU would have also been applying for a bodyguard role with Red, but upon being rejected, goes a bit off-the-hook, becoming obsessed, eventually managing to weasel his way into the Camerata to target Red. The attack would then play out the same as the other AUs except for the polycule.
With the polycule, Sybil, Auden, and Red have all formed a loving relationship and have been together a while, although Sybil is no longer a member of the Camerata. Eventually, Red and Sybil are both targeted, and intended to be taken out together, but Auden is once again the wrench in the machine, leading to either of the girls and Aude taken out and the final being transported, now the new User.
Alternatively, rather than a polycule, Sybil herself could have intended to throw herself into the wayside to heroically save Red, but Auden is also hit and the two just bicker back and forth about who's better for Red while Red just goes through the game being thoroughly too tired for this.
Sybil being hit can take place in a few different ways- that attempted sacrifice earlier although with Auden just not being in the picture, the Auden-Sybil role-swap, or Sybil herself just jumping in the way of the Transistor in the same way Auden did.
And the last one would be, what I feel, the most fun to explore- Sybil attempts to save Red in any of these possibilities and fails, with Red being hit and the two being transported. Immediately after transport, Sybil begins hurriedly fretting, in denial and either informing Red that "This isn't how this was supposed to happen!" if she were still Camerata-affiliated, or that "It should've been me...." if she wasn't, either ending with Red just cradling Sybil's face and pulling her closer before losing consciousness and awakening within the Transistor, the two girls setting off to be a pair of cottagecore lesbians fighting the literal apocalypse
One idea that could be fun to play with if Sybil is hit, would be the potential of Sybil tearing off the front of her own skirt and using Red's gown in its stead, albeit torn in the back to allow movement. The gown would form a pair of coattails as well as a semi-jacket covering. Along with that, it could be possible that she incorporates her parasol into the Transistor. If Auden is hit as well, she'd take his jacket along for the ride too.
Alternatively, if Sybil is hit, Red could don her hat, alongside using her parasol as a sidearm, possibly incorporating it into the Transistor as mentioned before.
Another alternative User situation could be the Kendrells, following an AU where Royce and/or Sybil betrays them, leading to Grant being hit and the two transported, with Asher taking on Red's role instead.
I love this
Thanky
Or, alternatively, with the polycule: Auden is the only one hit. Both Sybil and Red are transported away. Due to the dual nature of the User-hood in this instance, the Transistor replicates itself into a second form, replacing Sybil's parasol. Sybil and Red then both adventure, with both of them being able to hear Auden from the Transistor(s).
In this AU, they'd have double the functions for double the Transistors
Honestly I just wanna see a bunch of Sybil related stuff because I find her super interesting as a character and I have a bias toward parasol fighters
although alternate Transistor designs would also be neat
Polearms, alternate sword designs
You know, I like Sybil too
samee
she. pretty
Gender go brrrrrr
Guys, I beat Transistor for the first time last night!
The story left me with as many questions as answers but the game was great fun overall! Beautiful game with really fun mechanics! I'll be headed back for at least one playthrough of NG+ tomorrow. 😄
Congratulations! You have understood the story completely!
I'm very curious how you'll respond to a few... surprises Recursions offer.
Yeah even tho you don't learn much about her besides she is a bully
sybil :]
I'm actually taking the time to play Transistor now, and god, this art...this music...I'm going to cry
crying is an optional but recommended part of transistor
<@&456908176877551658>
Yoooo the Art you have as your icon used to be my phone background, I love it it’s so pretty. Do you remember the original artist? Been looking for them for a while
Check out their 7th anniversary artwork too!!
That is indeed a beautiful picture
This is the 7th anniversary one mentioned
these are so pretty ...
Is there a way to fix one softlock in the game? It seems like I'm at the end of the game but I got stuck after reloading my save and can't leave the room.
And as I had 12th level and pretty much everything unlocked (at that state of the game) I really dont want to have to repeat whole game
After combat with 3 "Man" while following the Connector to Royce, there was a room on the bottom right with station
As I went there and saved, accidentially I got into place on the right border that seemed like a floor and discovered collision system got turned off and I was able to pass through everything.
After I came back to the room with station, I reloaded the save from menu to eliminate this problem.
Then, collision came back, the way from which I came now has invisible wall and I am stuck there
Game restart didnt help
Anyone knows if there is a way to get out of this?
I don't myself, but you could probably ask the modding server, link pinned in #self-promotion
The have a channel for Transistor stuff, and could probably make something to move you back into bounds
Is this the Hades-Modding server in the pinned message?
Yup!
Alright, thanks, I'll give it a shot
Ah yes, day 3 or 4 of Transistor taking over my life ;-;
As it should 👍
Me and my cursed brain: Okay, but what if we can make a USB drive in the shape of that sword-
The transistor usb was official merch Swan btw :3
It was also included with the limited edition limited run stuff when that happened iirc
!!
it was?!
I had no idea
I wouldn't've been surprised if someone had just up and made one lmao
but that's even better
Yeah it was official merch! I don't think it was part of the limited edition though, at least not in my version 👀
It wasn't included with the lrg run, I misremembered on that front
Holy crap, it was?!
cries for getting late into the fandom
I don't even use USBs anymore, but by god I would use them again for transistor
So, I didn't try it while going through the story because I was scared, but does dying outside the backdoors/magic doors reset you to the beginning of the game?
Because I was super stressed throughout because I was like "This seems very long for no checkpoints..." But I didn't want to test the waters by dying
It does not, and I believe the terminals function as checkpoints iirc
Oh good. I got to the punk with the sword, lost 2 of my thingmabobbers immediately because the concept of the fight took a second to settle in, and was like "It has been several hours, I don't wanna go back"
Several being 6
The doors did reset me, but I didn't know if it was cuz it was like a simulation or something and if the real world was different
||Then transistor's ending happened, and my stress from trying to beat the boss with a peashooter turned to sadness|| spoiler: Transistor's ending
I should say that I'm not 100% positive of this, it's been a hot minute since I played, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't reset (that doesn't feel like something SGG would do)
I fully believed that there was a real possibility that SGG (Short for supergiant games I assume?) did exactly that.
It's not a roguelike! You can reload saves
The terminals! Saves, checkpoints, whatever
I never died outside, nor did I leave before beating the game, I had no idea.
The first of the 4 musketeers took forever because I was chipping away at her at 1 hp because I didn't want to reset
In my defense, my first sgg game was hades.
That's where I picked up all my bad habits from.
Like spamming space
Didn't do me any favors in this one.
Except the last fight, where I had to spam space. By then, I trained myself to not spam it.
Lost 2 things before the message got through
Also, another question. Final boss, he uses the attacks we can use, right?
Does he lose attacks with the "second chance" thing?
If it helps any, I've just seen someone ask the same exact question about a 30-hour game where you can die by a) being mean to a mailbox, b) sitting in a particularly uncomfortable chair, c) being insulted by a 12 year old kid, et cetera, et cetera 😂 Transistor looks like a much more likely candidate for a roguelike structure, it's understandable especially coming in from Hades 😂
Yeah. Definitely added to the experience, the uncertainty of what lies beyond.
10/10 wound recommend going in blind
I definitely need to go and have a lie down. I am shook, from both the story and the final boss.
Tag yourself, I'm "being insulted by a 12 year old kid"
the punk with the sword
Lol
For the record, all the Supergiant games previous to Hades had an autosave function to preserve your progress - none of them are roguelikes.
Me badly explaining Transistor: So it's basically Ariel right after she loses her voice, but this time, she has a talking sword that looks like an oversized USB drive
I mean...you're not totally wrong...
hehehe
Also, I just beat the Spine, and god, the amount of screaming I did during that encounter lmao
Good thing my family is used to my loud outbursts when I play video games
an instead of being on land, prince eric is stuck in a techno sword
i’d watch it
Oh, same
Disney better not make it tho, or I will go feral
They will ruin it; I'm certain
No one told me 8-bit Music Theory had a video on Transistor's soundtrack oh my god
https://youtu.be/ceem1ZNsFY8
It's February's Patron Request video! (Sssshh, I know it's March but go easy on me) In this one I talk about how Transistor's soundtrack uses pedal points and other, similar techniques. Thanks to Zachary Neely for the request!

Yes and no. (Final boss spoilers) ||He always has a set of 4 functions, but iirc they change slightly depending on how many rounds you’ve gone with him. He never “loses” them completely the way you do.||
Ah, ok.
Thanks for clarifying!
So i Just bought the game and played for around an hour. I must say that im in love but also say the very very start was kinda steep and caught me off guard
The game Just started without even a menu and immiadiately spawned an enemy infront of me
Still i loved what i played
Yeah, even though there's not really a need for a main menu in this game, it feels kinda off not having one
There doesnt need to be one but i was caught of guard by such a Quick introduction to the game and almost no context that in the first minutes i couldnt get imerssed
Even tho after playing some more i love everything about the game
yessss
I played some more and yeah
This game is dope 😍
Transistor does a lot of unconventional things that I wish more devs used
Like? Im not arguing im Just curious what you are specifically talking about
Story is never properly explained. There’s no title screen, it just drops you into it. Characters never stop and explain things because they live in this world. Almost everything is interpretive and can go a minimum 4 ways
Most games I’ve played hold your hand through every little thing. It’s nice to see devs trust their audience
Correction: hold your hand through the story
Does anybody happen to have royce bracket's portrait?
It might be on the wiki?
yeah, Im like, looking for the one that doesnt have that color on it
the one seen in the cutscenes where the guy in the transistor is talking to red about the camerata and their pictures show up in the background
heyo im heading off to sleep rn but could you show me a screenshot to refresh my memory? i might be able to try and look for it later and see
I really love those scenes: it's so creative.
That reminds me that I should really get back to Transistor. sweats in Pokemon Shining Pearl and Animal Crossing
i had a look around and didn't find this exact colouration, only a blue variant plus a flashback image

here you go, the non-blue version of it :P
thank u alma i just gave a cursory glance around lol
looking thru stuff makes my eyes burn after a bit from all the text
thank you!
Bit of a tangent, but I used to think the thing he was holding was an apple
...It totally looks like an apple now that you say that lmao
Wait it is not?
I think it's a
Oh-
An apple a day keeps the
away!
||so cloudbank had a shortage of apples huh?||
starts overeating apples
Maybe || the Camerata ate them all ||
Honestly didn’t know he was holding anything
„What we were doing was… wrong. In the traditional sense“
takes a bite out of the cell
chomp
True even tho i did need some videos to understand everything
Starting the year off with paper boats, hopefully the emotions only go uphill from here
good music, good start
though i’d say In the Flame is a great one to start off a new year (sneaky pyre in the transistor channel)
hello
just completed a recursion of transistor... and i am moved
wow. thank you, supergiant.

Recursion for the first time was great ||only for royce voiceline||
should've honestly also done that, but hopefully listening to transistor's ost for countless hours last year was just enough lol
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/858522335119933461/927654088823435324/20220101195813_1.jpg didn't realize this before but there's a shadow of a younglady there
Oh bruh what-
That one and Old Friends is 00F
They both hit just right
Old Friends is just lofi beats to stay depressed and ponder about your life to lol
at least that's what I use the song for, usually
yeah that's the reason why I apparently was in top 0.05% listeners of Darren on spotify lol
you pondered your life quite a lot then!
indeed
Just played through transistor
...wow
Just wow
Also recursion is basically just new game plus right
Nice
I rlly liked the theming
It wasn't afraid to be a little cheesy but it never pushed it too far
I liked everything about Transistor except for maybe the gameplay itself
It was for certain not the worst, but couldn't fully reach out for what it was trying to do
Nevertheless very unique and something people should try out especially if they have or are going for hades later
Completed a story, what a ride! This game is a beautiful peace of art, musically, visually and design wise!
Still I do not get the whole plot, or lets say the interesting aspects, maybe I need a second playthrough 🙂
yes!!!
||So, how it happened Red is having the transistor? I understand it allows user to shape the reality, construct and deconstruct the space itself. So it belonged to the Royce, and he created Cloudbank city with it? Did he also create all the people, Red including? And then he became tired of the job, lent transistor to Grant, who activated Cloudbank deconstruction process? In the end fight, how it happens Royce is having another Transistor?||
So many questions 😄
So, my take is (spoilers obvs) ||Royce didn't necessarily create Cloudbank with the Transistor, and certainly not the people. It was something he found after studying the city itself. Basically he realized the Process was doing all the work whenever a change was made in the city, and by digging into the "source code" of Cloudbank itself he found the Transistor, which let him and the Camerata create more direct change. ie. They could just use it to do/make whatever, instead of waiting for the Process to read a bunch of poll results and then go with the majority vote.||
||What happened with Grant and Red at the Empty Set is up to more interpretation but my take is that he got careless trying to kill her and the device ended up attaching itself to Red instead. The Process got confused about what it was supposed to be doing when its active User changed, so it just decided to reset the whole place and take the Transistor back, because it's a machine intelligence and a hard-reset is the easy answer for it, but a literal natural disaster from the perspective of everyone in the city.||
As to the final boss... well, I have a very detailed theory for that buried in a lengthy blog post I will dig up and link. But the short answer is ||I think any two users close enough to the Cradle would have to duke it out once the Transistor goes back in.|| A less itneresting answer is that ||Red and Royce are sort of thematic reflections of one another, and the Transistor itself is a "Chekhov's Gun"- not fighting another user with the same ability at some point would have just left the whole story feeling incomplete.||
here's that blog post (it's long and spoilery fwiw) ||https://sablegear0.tumblr.com/post/632962074272792576/royces-other-job||
sorry for the wall of text 😅
Thank you! That explains a lot! I need to think about it more...
||The last part, dragging a nearest user at a cradle, it seems a bit off. I mean, the transistor is an electronic device or software program. Those are not working such 'at random'. Maybe Red regained a control of the process at the cradle, and Royce was waiting for it. Then, using his knowledge over transistor, he tried to "hack" back his admin (sudo) user rights, which we observe as an ending fight.||
That is quite possible. WHat I've provided is just my take but it's totally possible ||Royce has/is messing with the Transistor's 'permissions' among other things. He does literally cheat in the ending fight. Knocking out one of his "second chances" never strips a function from him, he always has a full set of 4, just uses different ones at different stages in the fight.||
Hello, all. Picked up a bunch of Supergiant games and am currently enjoying Transistor. Can anyone tell me whether there is a way to see info on equipped functions when not at an access point? Would be helpful when in the tests, especially when presented with functions you have not yet learned.
Unfortunately I don’t think there is. Pretty sure you can read the basic info during Stability(?) tests (the wave-fight ones) but other than that it’s left up to experimentation unfortunately. You can also do the tests whenever (including NG+) so if you find you’re getting offered unfamiliar functions, you can always come back later
Thanks. There are times I'm not even sure what is in the upgrade slots for the test since it does not show a name on mouseover. But really, this is the only issue I have had with the game, so I can't complain too much. 😁
Does anyone else have a problem with test ||agency 3, every time the copy activates a turn they just stand there forever? I keep having to reset||
I figured it out, ||apparently taking the bounce shield is a no-no for the ai||
nevermind, it is still happening 😑
if anyone has any tips on how to resolve this please let me know its very frustrating
here's a reference video if anyone knows how to solve it, it happens literally every attempt ||https://streamable.com/u16lqf||
after restarting the game, it seems to have resolved the bug, so nevermind!
Long story short, the whole game is up to interpretation. Your version of the game is very different from mine
every copy of transistor is personalized
this is the transistor channel btw
You could say that
Possibly this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPINE_(software)
SPINE is a free, open source content management system for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets.
The system includes features like easy Web-based administration, full template support to separate style from content, common components like navigation bars, macros, message boards, and page statistics, and the ability to mix stati...
Could also be a biology thing, since the Process (at least to me) has a lot of biotech vibes. It's the Spine of the World—maybe it's part of what kept the process organized?
( @mild night )
In the 'bestiary', Royce mentions biological influences on the process' appearance a few times, for example YoungLady (i suspect the process is taking a bit of a liking to us, started taking on some of our quirks) and Clucker (its appendages, that is to say its legs, they will need a closer look, why are they not rigid? fleshy almost, appearing natural in shape and texture). I don't know if there's more lore on why there are different forms of the process, but I'd agree with Swan's idea of organization, that there's some kind of hierarchy and the Spine is somewhere at the top
But since they don't seem to be purely administrative (given that we fight one and multiple are close to the action), you could also assume they're assigned to 'reset' the biggest buildings and structures, while the smaller process entities will convert ordinary houses and streets and people
Lmao if that's the real reason that's amazing
If not, too bad, I'm believing this anyways
It's not unlikely to be true
Anyone know if there's an issue on Windows 11 that interferes with Transistor? I can't get it to launch. Tried verifying integrity and reinstalling
I haven't heard of one, but we can try a couple things (technically Hades things but I know some of them should work for older games)
What launcher are you using?
Steam
Could you try setting the launch options /UseNativeGaInput=true /UseNativeGaInputNoControllers=false?
· Right-click on Transistor in your Steam Library
· Select 'Properties...'
· Press the button that says 'Set Launch Options...'
It's still just acting like it's starting and then nothing happens
Well, I just had my friend who uses win 11 also try to open it and it worked for him so it's probably something else.
Have you tried any other games? (especially any other SG games)
Bastion launched just fine, I can check Pyre and Hades
aight, let me know how those two go ^.^
any specific error code?
Fatal Exception
Unable to load DLL 'lua52': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
That was after a fresh install
could you also try verifying file integrity?
This may work for Pyre if that doesn't
https://steamcommunity.com/app/462770/discussions/1/1471967615857961243/
That may also help Transistor, or you could try launching Transistor from the exe/shortcut directly? And try launching that or Steam as Admin, maybe
Hello I'm having some problems with the game..I just bought it and it looks awesome. But if it starts loading, (i'm not even in the game yet) it crashes. Here's error message: Fatal Exception Unable to load DLL 'lua52': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) at KeraLua.NativeMethods.LuaLNewState() at NLua.L...
I'll try those, fingers crossed
I finally got Pyre to launch after a bunch of nonsense and then launching it in admin mode from the x86 directory, but Transistor is still dead in the water with a kernelbase.dll error so I'm just ruling everything out.
What's the specific error? I can look into it a bit
I get 2 errors from Transistor in Event Viewer and they're fairly long, want me to copy paste?
sure, or DM to me
actually, put them in a text file, that way it doesn't take up a ton of space
ever get this figured out @junior lagoon ? Or do you want me to try to help as well?
👍
Today i finished the game for the second time
And then
"paper boats" started playing as the Credits rolled
I cried like a little baby
What a masterpiece of a game
i cry to paper boats even if im not playing the game
I have been listening to it repeatedly
i tear up at blank canvas just for paper boats to destroy me
does anyone happen to have a good image of a Creep
Hi all! In Steam discussions people was talking about Transistor supports icons from DualShock 4. But when I'm using DualSense, game shows me only Xbox prompts.
So, now I have one question: how can I turn on PlayStation icons for PS5 gamepad or this impossible?
It may not auto detect a PS5 game pad as a DualShock, considering it’s a game from like 2014. However, you may be able to change he controlled profile in the game’s Properties if you’re launching through Steam
I need some help finding a piece of fanart that was basically Royce but using Kill() or something like that
nevermind
I haven't got far in transistor, but when I got a choice between two functions, how long untill I get the other one
you’ll get a choice of functions every time you level up
you get xp from all combat encounters
i don’t know if the next choice is guaranteed to have the one you didn’t choose last time
It’s not guaranteed. It will show up eventually, but sometimes it takes awhile
It's guaranteed by a certain level because there are only so many functions, but that level won't come by the end of the game without using limiters
But there's recursion anyways
I have notes up to lvl 7, looks like every odd level after 3 you'll start seeing repeats, but someone else should corroborate
or rather, at lvl 5 I saw a repeat, and again at 7
it probably repeats that way with even levels offering new functions and odd ones being ones you didn't pick, until the pool narrows down enough you'll see all your rejects together
was there ever a full image of the Spine?
Not to my knowledge
I thikn there is/was a rip floating around of its head and upper bits from the combat, and one of the tail, but not the whole body. The only time we see the whole thing is in a late-game cutscene where there are a few zinging around in the background, but I've never seen those sprites extracted
I like your pfp.
I thought so in the boss fight, but maybe not...
There's the tail a bunch, the head in the bossfight, some in the background like sable mentioned, and the insides after the fight. Idt there was anything else, and besides maybe extracting the ones in the background, none of those are full images
Hello Process
I am here after my fourth replay, hello hello
Has anyone talked about the names in the ending boss fight? The names of the people we picked up along the way?
(didn't spoiler this cause without context of actually playing the game it doesn't make much sense)
I remember reading a transistor blog from somewhere before 2019 about the game politics, would anyone just so happen to remember it
It’s a bit of a long shot
I managed to find it
Link? I'm kinda in curious
Lol first time i hear sword bf sing the first lines of We all become during the Spine section
I-I read transistor as transistor today 😭
isn't that the same thing
"so who goes first?"
"What about.... Me"
I still love this part
Now is crying time
Most of transistor is crying time.
Amen ;-;
Also btw does nayone knows where does Royce gets to say the line of "this timeless relic, and you are dragging it in the ground"
You might have to flourish in front of him or something. I didn’t know that line existed
I mean it feels pretty self explanatory to me. You know where you are, you know where this takes place if that makes sense
I didn't know the PS4 version had the option to channel the Transistor's voice acting through the controller.
That sounds fum
It works on PC as well I believe
I think this was actually unused/data mined dialogue?
Shame cause his voice is great
Royce ASMR my beloved
I sometimes just mimic his voice and it actually ends up pretty good
I really just adore his speech patterns
Somehow feel like I could relate to them in a way
Lol I feel that, sometimes after replaying Transistor I unintentionally mimic Royce’s speech patterns for a little bit
Honestly, gimme some Transistor ASMR in general and I will swoon
Mood
Sometimes I like to put on Boxer’s voice lines because they’re incredibly soothing
Honestly, Transistor is peak aesthetic
...I still need to actually finish the game tho lmao
Honestly tho, my bisexual self panics every time I see any of the characters lmao
The Camerata in particular gave me strong feelings like yo wtf
Mmm I love the Camerata so much
Camerata: exists
Me: Why do I keep falling for the antagonists
MEEEE
IT'S SO RUDE BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS SO ATTRACTICE LIKE WHY DO THIS TO ME?
I’m always a big fan of the villains, so when I saw them I just went “uh oh”
The Camerata are all attractive and evil and that’s so unfortunate for me in particular
Why is it always the villains wtf
Me, seeing attractive villains: god, hope this doesn't awaken anything in me
I am especially partial to Sybil and Royce
Part of me wants to change my pfp to either of them, but the other part of me knows I have already changed my pfp too many times within the past week lmao
I think I saw a Royce asmr actually
Turns out, it's just some voice clips, but sure.
Royce's voice was a great trigger for me when I met him at the end of Transistor.
So I played through the whole game again to reach that point again and recorded his words with all other sound settings muted.
This may or may not be every voice clip of him, but it was everything I was able to record.
EDIT Another channel got all the lines stra...
TIME TO FINISH THE GAME SO I CAN HEAR MORE OF ROYCE'S BEAUTIFUL VOICE
Royce...voice...oh my god, it works
I'm going to play Transistor with headphones from now on lmao
all i'm saying is red would've nipped half the Camerata's bullshit in the bud far sooner if she had a gun okay like imagine all of transistor is exactly the same (even with the giant sword husband)...
Was browsing on Tumblr and found this, and honestly, good point
Just got plat and transistor, it’s probably my fav supergiant game. Onto pyre now
pyre is my favorite
isnt the ping() function a gun technically
...oh god you're right
I just listened to this after having an anxiety attack, and god, I can listen to him all day
...help, my crush on Royce is getting worse
"matter of fact let’s give one to every SGG protagonist and see how easily the tables turn"
Only Red and the Nightwings don't have guns, I think
give her a gun
gun boyfriend
Gun boyfriend!
Would gun transistor shoot a bullet to transport them inside or you just yeet the gun
this being added for steam deck?
