Just finished it. Really loved the combat mechanics. I didn't go anywhere near meta, just had tons of fun combining functions and trying different builds. I found some good tactics myself but didn't actually need them since I didn't bother with limiters and such.
The story I had trouble following, since I played it very sparsely over the course of 2+ months. I will start googling summaries sortly
Art direction was spot on, very well done and pretty original. The urban atmosphere that gets "cleansed" by The Process really got me. Although it seems quite the opposite, one could argue it's a parallel to what humans did to nature.

I used crash upgraded with purge and bounce. And then jaunt without any upgrades. And I usually messed with the other two slots. Towards the end I discovered I could make an overpowered Help() upgraded with load and flood and the last slot was Mask. So against "Men" I could just stand in a corner and let my companion do the dirty job.

hi I don't know if this is the right place to ask for help, but basically I downloaded Transistor from the Epic Games store and really liked the game. Problem is, every time the game decided to save, a screen would pop up, saying 'Unable to save progress to storage device. Retry?' and it would never be able to save. I've tried reinstalling the game and verifying it on the Epic Games client. Neither worked. I also tried running the .exe file directly as an administrator but the game would crash every time. If anyone here can offer any help that would be very much appreciated.

Hey, I once gave a talk about creating atmosphere in games, I believe the year after Bastion shipped. But we've never discussed narrative development/process in depth specifically, especially not for Transistor. It's something I've thought about but after my GDC Bastion talk I've had trouble mustering up the will to do another one. I end up focusing on development and letting the games themselves do the talking.

The void(crash) debuffs enemies to take like 200% extra damage or something ridiculous like that. Of course they are also stunlocked from crash. Then the Get() upgrade pulls all the enemies in the area into one small spot... and a packet spawns from Load().... and it gets sucked in as well....

a bit off topic, but relevant to the discussion;
the first time I watched the anime series series Clannad, I made the explicit decision to watch a potentially triggering scene for some well before the events (didn't watch the series for months after 😂 ) but when it got to a specific reveal, i was anticipating the scene for episodes before itand that anticipation heightened the emotional impact of that scene 10 fold for me

It can mirror life, reflect life, yet never BE life, and yet every art has the potential to lead us towards life....relationships and revelations.

but perhaps the thorns can come from many places, and not the same places twice....perhaps....but it's my choice. I can embrace that thorn of false thoughts, let it control and contort me, or I can wave it away like dust in the wind, because it was not part of their original vision; no sane person would create a thorn....no sane person would willingly hurt another, not really....and definitely not through art. Art can reflect bad things or have them as subjects, themes or plot points, but they cannot BE the thorn, themselves, because then it would cease to be art, and the art would go against its own nature.
