Red’s boyfriend/maybe fiance, aka the man in the transistor yeah
I heard a theory that he was Red's hired bodyguard after there was a riot at one of her concerts
Also he dosen't have a selection
maybe he's an outsider
since Cloudbank is basically a matrix
The Narrator is pretty much Morpheus and Red is Neo
Can anyone recommend me a game with combat that's as creative as Transistor's? Like something where you can try the same scenario with a various amount of approaches
the world is sad and misera-
OH MY. GOD LUNA
I assume you mean something with multiple functions that you can combine at will? Because if you‘re just after different approaches, I would think of Hitman first lol
More of the former then
Hm, I don't know any good matches then. Maybe there's Mages of Mystralia but I haven't played around with the actual combinations much. Though I think it had some puzzle elements which might be nice (in contrast to Transistor's one (1), uh, 'puzzle')
Hey planning tests are puzzle-y, kind of
true!
the one puzzle is funny though, just lets you pass if you don’t press the buttons for long enough :D
ultimate question
what junctions jans do you order
i love me some cold mystery jans topped with stuff
does anyone else always just stop in highrise to listen to paper boats btw
sea monster’s really the only choice
I got harvest garden the first time and the guy sounded so disappointed! I got sea monster this time around
I'm listening in highrise rn and I stop to hum a little whenever I get out of a backdoor test and the music is off
My first time around, I never really made the connection that I could always hum outside of turn (I thought it was just for story stuff) so now this playthrough has also become a search for the prettiest places for Red to hum! I like the very top of the backdoor test tree
OOH i gotta try that
transistor with LEDS is so nice
That ending gets me shaking every time oh my god
Man what a game
I guess a huge reason i love replaying it is just the feeling when it’s over. You know whats coming but you’ve still spent the last 6 hours fighting for it
I should buy this game again honestly
I got it for free through playstation plus which i don't have anymore
Transistor won't launch off of steam. I need help 😦
Yes
Happy 9th birthday Transistor

NINE YEARS!?
TRANSISTOR IS NINE GODDAMN YEARS OLD ALREADY!?
god
i can feel my knees turning into dust
brb i gotta go fulfill my duty of an old person and scream at some kids to get off my lawn

there are children in elementary school who are younger then transistor thats so sad
omg transistor 9th bday
real
I need to start this soon, looks pretty fun and the combat seems cool
It is fun and the combat is cool
My theory is that yes, it's like the Matrix, except the simulation is nested several levels down
Because when we see Red return to Cloudbank after the fight with Roy, doesn't she dematerialise like she's teleporting? That could indicate that she's still in a simulation/program
I've been having the same problem. I went through everything listed on Supergiant's page to troubleshoot the problem and nothing worked. I sent an email to the company and I haven't received an answer.
Same sadly, i was realy exited for this game and it just won't start...
I have really no clue on what could possibly stop the game from launching, 9 years after release.
<@&456908176877551658> Sorry to bother, i've seen quite recent message of player that asked for help with their gale not launching, but none of them ever get answer.
Now i know that it is not your particular job as moderators to help with technical issue, but i would like to be able to play the game i paid, and the Technical FAQ is outdated at the moment.
this is not something to ping all mods for, yeah.. i dont think all if any of us know how to fix it - you could ask @junior lagoon if they know how to help
but i think they will probably know more about hades than transistor? 🤔
I’m sorry, us moderators have no exclusive dev access or ability to fix technical issues
i know mods won't know how to fix these issue, but i just don't know anymore where to ask. the game is now 9 years old, and i guess there is not a lot of player nowaday. it is just so frustrating not to be able to at least get a crash report of something to work with. And Since the Technical FAQ did not help, there is basicaly no information on these particular issue recently.
Did you check steam forums maybe?
yes i did, most issues and thread came for the year following the launch
there is no recent thread currently
I understand your frustration, unfortunately we really just don’t have better tips or tricks for you. The only thing I can recommend is requesting a steam refund and purchasing on a separate platform such as Epic Games or Itch.io. With the devs attention fully on Hades 2 there is little time to address issues on older titles
https://steamcommunity.com/app/237930/discussions/0/3060744206334693727/
Did you see this one?
[Possible Transistor Resolutions] I bought the game a few months ago, my computer meets the requirements for the game and I've also played other Company games like Hades, but when I tried to run Transistor it came up with a black screen saying it didn't have any minimum requirements to run the game .
I understand t hat the devs are quite busy, i wouldn't intent of getting to contact with them, especialy on an older game like this
no i did not
i will try what is says rn
Sadly it did not work for me...
i will keep looking, if i find a fix i'll update here for anyone who could have an issue
I found an obscure fix that allow the game to launch:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/237930/discussions/1/540743212322048413/
I've finished downloading Transistor, but nothing happens when I click play. It opens up the "Launching Transistor" window but then nothing happens. EDIT: If you copy your Content folder from the Transistor files into the x86 file you can boot from the application in the x86 file. Works for most people. Try swapping it into the x64 file if that ...
I don't understand the problem, it seem like a folder location issue, which is quite weird given for most people the game won't have any issue
Any1 know the last time the transistor store got restocked?
i havent been keeping the closest tabs since i already have all of the stuff there but i dont think its been restocked since the first time it went up?
tbh im a little tempted to buy the cloudbank shirt bc mine is from 2015 or so and its small
i probably shouldnt though...
Cloudbank tee is so cool!! Just doesn‘t mesh with my wardrobe anymore tho sadly
Could’ve sworn I saw stock a while ago
Hello, was wondering if this game is like Hades a roguelite? Thanks for the info.
its on sale on Steam thats why I am asking
I don't know, so sorry if this is useless info, but I think it should say the genre on steam. I'm not sure if it does though.
It’s not but its very fun
Its like
Turn based?
Essentially
Theres a main combat mode closer to hades bur then a turn() which lets you plan actions
ah ok thanks I am in the middle of Hades and liking it. Wanted to check more games made by Supergiant and see how they are.
turn BASED combat.
ive been traumatised from turn based combat games after playing Fear and Hunger so now I dont play them
but I used to like them and its a fun little way to suffer while being able to do nothing in return
gives you that sense of helplessness you may lack in your life
Hi guys, I bought Transistor yesterday on Steam after playing Hades for a very long time. Only problem is it won't launch, it says "running" for a second and the button just goes back to "play" and the game never launches
This doesn't happen with any of my other games 😦 Anyone have an idea what it could be?
#transistor message this or the link after it might help you?
Thank you! Putting the Content folder into the x86 folder worked
Transistor puts this on its head
Your enemies’ turn is spent trying to evade their attacks and you have some stuff that can be used while your turn is on cooldown
And if you favor faster attacks, you can do most of the combat in real-time, then save turns for big combos if you need them! It's all about finding the right balance and adapting to what each fight needs
Hi, just started playing and notice the game does not have the option for 2560 x 1440 is that because the game is old? Thats my natural screen resolution, at 1080 it looks blurry on my screen.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1114450346782232666/1136819289815523338/20230803203248_1.jpg
Transistor keeps being the game that I love it's looks the most from sgg
(+ this entire part is prob my 2nd fav of the entire game, next to the whole meeting royce part)
Huh. Ran into something funny. My Turn() INFO is displaying Focus_Info_Combat_Sidearm_7
I've been finally playing through this game lately, hoping to actually finish it this time
Pyre's next on my list! I can't wait
hey i was wondering if anyone could help, ive been having issues of text in menus and captions being cut off
||I https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/963235743852007475/1137578040768081971/20230806124505_1.jpg

Have you tried running it in windowed or fullscreen and seeing if there's a difference? If that doesn't work, it might be an issue with your aspect ratio/resolution
ive tried both windowed and full screen and i still have the same issue
my screen is 2560x1080 whilst the game is at 1920x1080 (thats the highest ratio) but it always seems fine because it has the black bars at the sides
This reddit post says that they only have the issue in 1920x1080 https://www.reddit.com/r/transistor/comments/261kfz/1920x1080_resolution_issues/
You could try just playing at a lower resolution (assuming that works), or, if you're able, go into windows settings and manually change your resolution to 1920x1080 and see if that helps?
someone on steam said switching the resolution to something else and switching back to 1920x1080 fixed it as well https://steamcommunity.com/app/237930/discussions/1/1484358860946052922/
Hello. I play on win10, 2560 * 1080 px resolution. Some texts, subtitles are cut in half. Could you please tell how do I fix that? Or is that being fixed on the developer's side? Here is an example: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1168922507 In other aspects the game is great, good job!
okay that also worked, thank you so much youre absolutely amazing!!!
ive been trying to play for a while now so im rlly happy i can properly now!
anytime, hope you enjoy the rest of your playthrough!
thank you!
yeah I had to get it off eBay for a hefty price 😓 but def worth
thats actually fire
I played transistor recently and I really liked it. I'm glad that there's a studio like supergiant that makes Linux native games
I got lucky picking mine up off the website for $20 and now I see them for significantly more
I started playing Transistor a couple days ago and while it might not be my favourite SG game combat system-wise, the story is so hauntingly beautiful 😭 ❤️
||everything post asher is so nghnnnnn, say hi to Royce for me||

my favourite transportation mode so far
I wonder if the process feels fluffy. Like are they plasticky, or do they have very, very fine fur?
I WONDER THAT TOO

LOL
okay i gotta be careful about language, alright 🥲
Dyno protecting the villain's reputation
I just wanted to state that the voice acting is just superb, because you can hear (cw spoiler discussion) ||how much Asher just loved Grant and this makes it all the more heartbreaking... I am mildly spoilered for the ending (not everything in between)... but in the end isn't it what Red does too? Choosing to spend an eternity together with her loved one, rather than apart? They are more alike than they think 💔 ||
I kinda wonder what's so bad about ||the countryside. The little we see of it seems pleasant enough||
||https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LotusEaterMachine kind of like this? But if the real world is absolutely gone beyond saving, it might just as well be better to accept it as a new reality, and at some point it might feel like starting a normal "second" life||
||inside the Transistor|| I mean
||The countryside|| also reminds me of Black Mirror: San Junipero
ah ok it's even listed as one of the trope examples, alright
||Artificial Afterlife / Nostalgia Heaven|| also applies
Does losing function have lasting consequences? I died at the first boss and lose a function
It feel really discouraging so I haven’t touch the game since
Nah, you can get it back later
Ya
I keep losing at performance test 5 😂 does anybody have some tips for that one?
Uuhh which one is that again
the one with the 11 waves spawning lots of "man", I tried all possible function stacks already but if the number of enemies gets bigger than 4 and they share invisibility status it gets so tricky 🥲
General trick ig is just try to bait one alone to attack and drop the invisibility and one shot them with turn()
Don't remember if those tests gave you the functions in a set order but for one shotting purporses, cull() x2 + backstab should do the work
I like mask() to stall for the turn() cooldown to end and bounce() on passive slot in case I can't dodge in time.
Otherwise, you could also use a few attacks in turn() but don't use the entire bar, so you can slowly chip away the enemies (assuming the Man with the regen trait isn't there)
Jaunt() on a secondary slot allows the function to be used even if turn() is on cooldown so you have something to get rid of the attacks (forgot their name)
As far as I know the functions you get are assigned randomly.. and I only had spark(), breach (), crash () and one other so they were fairly low level... I wish you could choose your enemy process spawn type in the practice room, that would help
if I could void em, everything would be easier haha
Last tip I can think of is trying to do as much dmg as possible before using turn()
Use crash() for the dmg buff, walk/jaunt() behind enemy all before turn() to save any possible bar
Can make a difference between one more attack
I will try that!
I would be immensely lucky if I got assigned jaunt so at least the haircuts wouldn't be such an ordeal
maybe I use turn too early (as soon as they go visible and i'm not running from the 'cuts)
Turn() after the haircut spawn is good yeah
whoa i just had flood () as one of the options and holy 😄 it's a literal lifesaver!
i will try flood with a purge upgrade next, looks promising
I don't have tap atm
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/423540667726168064/1155948637491310684/Screenshot_2023-09-25_212645.png this is what I'm working with 🤔
ok nope didn't work, got two down but the other two hit me fast :0
Ouch
oh very cool, this run i got help (), going for that sacred kill () haha 😄
That's the 500 dmg nuke right
yep
I don't like it as much as when I first played
lost again, these goodamn haircuts lol
oooh good ones, i got mask now, also very fortunate
Great
along with crash, cull, tap, help... maybe I'm gonna make it
the 8 mem limit is brutal tho XD
I've done it, finally found a combination that worked, void and crash + purge 🙂
gg
there's a lot of patience needed for these achievements, but they're fun to get 😄
the tests where you fight against a copy of Red are awesome
If you get bounce (just in general) it's a great passive! Saved me from so many haircuts! And it gives you the security to play a little riskier too
The performance tests were my favorites, I wish there was an option to replay them. Getting creative and then having it pay off was so rewarding
Bounce() passive is blessed
You mean the damage shield?
Yup
I need to start this at some point, the art vibe alone just is magnetically screaming to my eyes
finally got around finishing the story, ||damn i hate bitterweet ||
transistor
Hello, i just finished my first run of transistor yesterday
Already started the second one to get more functions and more lore about the camerata
After the ending, i felt like there was a lot for me to discover yet
So, what is the best way to get more lore about cloudbank, the characters, the plot, etc ?
An easy way is to go to all the terminals and read/listen to their little announcements (read the scrolling headlines too!) And then use the functions in different slots (active, upgrade, passive) to get more lore on the characters- that one's a little tougher because you'll need to experiment
Use all the functions sufficient times to unlock their lore entries
I see
good thing i am already experimenting a lot with the functions
i changed at every check point
But what about stuff like the spine ?
If you mean lore of the spine there really isn't that much
Outside of what vague comments from sword bf about making him "drunk"
And also look into coding (just the terms and such, you don’t have to learn to code) because a lot of terms and things in transistor are inspired by it
Hey guys. I already asked this same question on the subreddit but now that I've identified my vinyls as being from the 2017 Transistor OST black Vinyl Limited Edition, I figured I'd ask here if anyone else actually has a set of them. Can't post pictures in here so uh. Yeah it's on the transistor subreddit rn. Just wondering because I can't find even a trace of them online
they have not been repressed to my knowledge, and iirc were sold from the supergiant games store directly before it moved to fangamer?

Here is the white one
Also, you can post embeds through an image hosting site like imgur
https://i.imgur.com/C3rbk9z.jpeg
https://i.imgur.com/owQIp2v.jpeg
Hope this works. These are the ones I have. According to discogs they were not repressed and there's still only 200 out there.
The cover, unfortunately, was damaged while these were just laying in my attic. I had forgotten about the vinyls until I found them a few days ago lol.
hades and bastion were repressed so I have hope now
Oh, really? Haven't kept up with supergiant merch for the past few years. Getting that bastion vinyl might be next on my list
playing transistor on switch, it’s really hard to get used to the controls lol
It’s still as gorgeous as I remember though
transistor my beloved
nothing matches transistors vibes, it's so unique
Supergiant is so good at making unquie worlds that you wanna get immersed in, espeically for Pyre and Transistor
who do i have to sell my soul to to get an entire album by Red
All of her songs (ignoring the fact that she isnt real) go so hard
With Signals and She Shines plus the in-game songs, you have enough for an EP!

I found a game to make animal crossing type rooms and made this transistor inspired room
the processed room :O
Looks so cool! What's the game
Time to finally get on this train and see what this one's all about
What do you guys interpret as the narrative theme of Transistor?
Maybe ennui!
i think it's about agency, in part
it's a pretty open story imo given the mysterious presentation on first read, and the scifi/fantasy/simulation can of worms you can open which changes most of the facts of the story. lots of ways you can take it
i interpreted it as a story of self expression
- red starts as a happily existing artist
- red loses their ability to create as they knew it, lost their voice
- red tries to get it back, turns out violence doesn't solve anything
- red gets the opportunity to pivot to a new style, painting/architecture to rebuild the city, but doesn't have the courage/energy left to pursue it
Don't forget the city which has gotten very bored and stale despite having all the options in the world!
yeah i've always enjoyed character based stories so i latched onto red's journey, but the whole setting is quite rich and could be what interests you
lots to do with what we were given
yeah this
tbh i wouldnt she say she was super happy seeing the stuff she wrote
her music is obviously very aware anyway
no yeah but i think theres a degree of
Something
That she had before the incident too
i cannot think of the word
not quite sure what you're thinking of, but i do think there's quite a big difference between doing something that's hard and a struggle and difficult and maybe not joyous
and giving up
that's the big difference i see
probably the process
it seems like she was dissatisfied or sad and when she wrote about it it caused unrest, so she was being censored
yes
i think its fascinating how smart she is about how she presents the situation shes in
red censoring herself to fit a mold, being censored for that - her voice literally being taken away
yes that
Worse: they were trying to seal her away in the Transistor, but her boyfriend got in the way
The story is largely about agency, specifically Red’s agency, but the way agency applies to the Camerata and the worldbuilding is a little curious
Cloudbank runs entirely on direct democracy (thereby the agency of its constituents), and the narrative depicts this as a negative trait that deserves to be questioned, especially the way it validates the Camerata
I honestly don’t quite understand why 😅
The most validated expression of agency comes from Red’s choice in the end, which is one she also essentially makes for whatever remains of Cloudbank.
Empty city aside, it’s representative of Red asserting her agency over the world much in the same way the Camerata did
it's been a while since i've played transistor, but i think the issue was that there couldn't really be true creativity or innovation since everyone was beholden to the collective opinions of the masses. sort of like when a movie in the real world tries to please everyone rather than identifying a target audience and catering to it - as a result, the movie itself is mediocre and not memorable. cloudbank is the same way, but with everything, even the weather
Ok, I just finished Transistor, and WHAT THE F**K NOBODY TOLD ME I WOULD BE IN TEARS BY THE END! I was just having fun and then the next thing I knew I was full on crying, how was this story so good?
WE ARE PAPER BOATS FLOATING ON A STREAM
AND IT WOULD SEEM
WE'LL NEVER BE APAAAAART
I WILL ALWAAAAY FIND YOUUUUUU
the orchestral paper boats from the songs of supergiant was really great too if you love that song
Paper boats (and by extend, blank canvas) are amazing
Hot take, all the music is actually incredible
The humming ver of Blank canvas is
So true
Otherwise uh Royce's battle theme and waterwall are my other fav
- red songs but that one is kinda guranteed lol
Anything sung in the transistor OST is automatically one of my favorite songs
She shines is amazing
Personally I love We All Become
It is great
But also consider in circles
We all become for me is better in game
I don't think I could rate them in game
Except for Paper Boats
It will always be #1
Yup yup
Also is kinda funny how early all the songs play in game lol
The spine>we all become and directly into in circles
Then bye bye until the endgame
W8th maximum emotional dmg
Really feeling the emotional damage
hurts more when you realize darren is doing backing vocals in the sing aka sword bf
i do like the full version though
in one playthrough i think i remember noticing that when you first approach sybil she’s singing We All Become (heavily processed, but recognizable)
Gateless and Forecast are my favorite instrumentals- Gateless has such a good groove (and it gets the bonus of the cool elevator fight) and Forecast is haunting, really makes the fights feel serious
Gateless is 5/4 which immediately means S-tier
I realized earlier that Transistor is gonna be 10 years old next year
dang that is making me feel old
Happy Spotify wrapped day to anybody who follows it. Impossible was my most listened to song for the second year in a row
And the Transistor soundtrack took up my top 3 listened to songs of the year 😭
I like this game a normal amount
because of transistor (and a bit of bastion and pyre) darren korb is my no. 1 played artist of all time
he was my second and ashley was my 3rd lmao
so anyone else suspect that hades 2 will include an iteration on the function system?
Hades 1 already kinda does with a weapon of choice then upgrades that change the way it works
Okay sooo I just finished (?) Transistor [got to the credits] and well, I had some struggle getting through the game so some plot points might have just went over my head... Now I am at this screen and have no Idea what these two options mean and I am not sure if they are exclusionary.
Ah okay, thank you :)
hades 2 is coming out now I wait for when we get either transistor 2 or more goods to buy
[Ultra mega spoilers] ||Transistor 2: farming simulator!||
My hopes are higher than nasa will ever reach
Transistor 76
I just want more figures or something, the ones you can get now a days xd are 100-200. Shoulda bought it back when it came out, but I never had any room in my place. Sad
I want more posters and merch too
Camerata figures when
Something I’m a little confused about regarding the Traces, is that if Mr. Nobody can talk to them and stuff when they become traces, where are they in the Transistor? He mentions that he’s alone in the Country, so presumably they’re not with him?
theres the tracebanks at the end, the supposed theory is that someone who has connection from the outside of the transistor can hear those within, because hes within it, however he can hear them as they are all sort of part it, but he can't see them because he didnt know them. This is why Red can hear him and vice versa, without any spoilers. We're never fully told how the transistor works, as not even Royce knows, its just there and works. Its also why the fight against him is so weird, as it sort of defiles the rules we know. So really know one knows how it works past that.
I thought the bit was that only Red couldn’t hear them well because she didn’t know them to varying extents, and that the Boxer wasn’t held to the same rules because he was part of Transistor and as such could converse with all of them regardless
Also the fact that the final battle takes place in the Transistor but it’s a completely different realm than where the Boxer is is also rather strange- maybe it’s just that the Transistor has different pocket dimensions???
Thats the odditiy about it, we're told that anything that goes in cant come out
Yet red and royce go in to fight for administrator rights, soooo
It contradicts itself a lot to the point that it becomes very clouded what we know and don't that's true.
But also remembe that Royce is a socially inept power hungry genius. He talks in a way that acts like someone of a very low social skill accord, but of high intelligence, and reminds us constantly that he could do so much, even with a empty shell of a dying world. So you can argue on this that he deceives us. Or that he simply doesn't know, and will try to assert himself as more knowledge and therefore more deserving of said tool. Yet remember the transistor is a tool, used as a weapon. That's just it. REd doesn't know how to use it past that functionary till later.
I just booted Transistor up today (early morning before I went to bed) and I’m at a loss. What is even happening? My moves keep getting disabled for no apparent reason. I beat a boss and upon trying to leave the area, my sword (who I thought was my friend) rewinds time to make me do it again, but with disabled moves. I can switch to turn-based to queue up four actions, but only the first one ever lands, and then I have to wait before I can do anything but move. I try to save and quit because I’m obviously too tired to play this, and that’s not even an option; just retry or refresh(?). Why won’t it let me quit to the main menu!? This game makes me long for the days that games came with manuals.
In order
About moves being disabled, if you aren't losing all your hp then check one of the terminals (where you can swap your functions) and check the limiters section, there's one that disables your functions if you uninstall them
About the only one attack landing, while turn() plays up everything does move slighty although super slow, so it can be a range issue, some enemies teleport when hit/others have an hp breakpoint where overkill dmg won't apply
It was happening in combat. So I was losing all my HP? I couldn’t even tell where that was displayed.
Is the yellow bar on top of the functions
Any idea why I had to beat the boss twice?
What boss it was?
There's sybil after the concert cutscene/big thing with spine tail and final boss
young lady?
I was thinking the room where you kill some random process, try to leave and sword bf tells you to go back
Then is another encounter in the same room vs a brute
But also is super early so idk
@graceful zinc do you remember which enemy it was? At least a general description (if it teleports after attack, keeps slamming the floor, etc)
Sorry, I’m at work. I just looked it up. It was a Jerk.
ah jerk was the name
then yeah if you say time travel then there's a chance it was the encounter I was thinking of or you lost all your functions during the fight, throwing you back to your latest save
or it could be the emergency turn thing that pops when you are about to lose all of your hp
https://youtu.be/B3C7PwvRpeI?t=353 @graceful zinc is the encounter you were talking about this one? or further in the game

If you're having problems with moves not landing in turn, try using Breach (the blue arrow) for your later moves (2-4). It's long-range and pierces, so it'll hit even if the Jerk is being pushed backwards a bit
And the Jerk does have a middle hp breakpoint if I remember correctly
🤔 true, I don't remember the basic one
Yeah, this looks like it.
Then yeah its probably less turn the time back and just the second fight with the upgraded jerk
Thanks, I’ll try that, but I think I was having trouble with enemies just moving away from the path of my attack.
Waiting at point blank before starting turn () helps so they don't move away
You also get more turn for your attacks as you don't waste it on movement
Although if you aren't killing in one turn you can use some of the bar to get away of the enemy too
Also almost never walk
Spamming jaunt() is more efficient
You'll keep getting more abilities too, so try different things! I like Breach because it can get more than one enemy at once. Spark is fast enough (usually) to use outside of Turn, and Crash as a passive (on the side) makes you take less damage so you don't lose abilities as easily
hi!! im playing transistor and have come across a mistake i made where i have no active attacks and no way to go back to a port to change them. any help?
i've tried restarting but it doesnt let me go back to a checkpoint where i can change the attacks and i can't go forward because my attacks dont let me actively hurt my enemies. I have dash, the purple one that lets you go invisible, and the move that sets up three little bombs.
this is totally my fault but i would like to proceed ^^;
where is the checkpoint restarting you? I thought it nearly always put you at the most recent access point
I can't think of any encounter that doesn't have one available
Thanks for the help. I decided to restart and am having a much better time. Other things that I’ve figured out that help quite a bit are 1) realizing that I can use the D-pad instead of relying on the janky left stick on my controller while I wait to replace it, and 2) noticing that I can hold buttons down to aim.
its putting me in one of those secret access rooms— the beach area. I don’t belive I can change my attacks from there
and when you leave it you're put straight into a fight? usually there's an access point right outside of backdoors
iirc
it’s in a hallway between two areas and it won’t let me backtrack :( let me try to get a clip
this is the area i'm in. theres a small hallway conecting the two screenshots and if i continue through the doorway im put into a fight ^^;
Do any of your main skills have any passive that allows them to do dmg
Iirc the game always disables pure passives first so you can still do dmg
Cuz the other bet would be using the exploding function and pray the enemies can detonate them
I've never used that as a main so idk
I’ve been trying the explode function but the enemies haven’t been detonating them unfortunately. I thought the dash did damage but I believe I’m wrong about that as I haven’t been able to detonate my own explosions
Does mask() do anything after the effect runs out
@night bronze have you tested if the explosion thing has a limit on how many of them can be on screen at the same time?
Mostly theorycrafting of how lucifer rail works in hades where once you get enough bombs the first one auto detonates
i think the limit is three sets of three-- i can double check if they auto detonate but i havent had luck with that. Mask's current effect is boosted with the sword (i've been calling him stabby) so it just lasts longer.
If you have passive slots (the ones that buff red herself) is the function from sybil there?
they do not detonate if I exceed the third placement unfortunately
red is her own passive function— I was trying to unlock the last bit of lore
bounce, I thought it would work like Athena’s boons in hades so where when I jaunt it launches a bounce attack
do the practice rooms in the backdoor change your loadout? I don't remember
nope! tried that already
If it at least were the spines sections you could use the tail at least ig but I'm out of ideas
thank you for all the help!! I emailed support but if all else fails I can just restart the game entirely
And when you mean resetting, is through the menu or just losing all hp
Idk how it works lol
through the general>>profiles>> new profile or reset progress
Yeah my only guess is if dying lets you do anything differently but idk
Such a weird softlock tbh
I tried dying twice, I get spit out in the same place :(
A bit shorter than her bf
a bit taller than the transistor
That's not helpful if we don't know how tall the Transistor or Blue are
I just found an official tweet saying she chose to be tall, which is still vague and doesn't feel right
Is everyone in Cloudbank a giant
Where did you find the tweet can I see it
Thanks
For some reason I thought they showed heights in the transistor function cards and I remember her being 173 cm. But I guess that was just a fake memory
She strikes me as being anywhere from 173-178 cm which means Boxer is at least 190+ cm
Hello everyone! I have two questions and confession to make...
- Does Transistor pick's up pace and story after first hour of gameplay?
- I refunded The Game on Steam because story and combat felt boring....
- Should I give This Game a second chance?
that really is up to you, the game isnt very fast paced
I mean "fast-paced" really is subjective. It's really not that much of a time investment - Transistor was made in an era of gaming where 6 hours of gameplay was appropriate. Now that an average game needs 40+ hours I don't see how it's so overwhelming
Plus I think the slower pace is on this game's advantage. The story is pretty dense and the combat is, if anything, too short, so the downtime really helps you drink in the wonderful ambience of the game (and it truly is beautiful. The music is outstanding and the artstyle has aged incredibly, way better than Bastion)
At the end of the day like Dor said it's up to you, but like, come on man. It's 4 bucks on Steam right now. You'll enjoy it more than a cup of coffee, I can guarantee you that much.
- No
- Not a question
- Maybe
I hated it when I first tried it. Then I learned it was 6 hours, so I tried it after I beat Bastion. The gameplay is actively bad, but the presentation, music, and somewhat the story all made it an experience I don’t regret at all
the gameplay is not bad???
It's not quite as smooth as Bastion due to the length of the animations and such. It's very deliberate compared to the more free-flowing combat of Bastion and Hades
It’s a very awkward combination of turn based and clunky real time. The customization is pretty cool, but the actual pressing of buttons near bad guys? Oof. I thiiink gameplay-wise it’s the worst game I’ve beaten
With all due respect, it sounds like you played the game wrong
And that's understandable! The game makes almost too good a job of masking the fact it's essentially turn based - to the point where it becomes misleading
Using the weapons in real time is not really supposed to be part of the experience unless you are cleaning up stragglers, or have really understood how the game works and made a build suited for it
Also it just takes a while for the combos to click in, and to its credit it does do a good job encouraging trial and error. I too had trouble with the combat but kept changing my loadout to unlock more lore and that's how I realised what I was supposed to do
It seems like the majority of people hate the gameplay or at least are indifferent to it but to me it's the best gameplay I've experienced ever in all the games I've played. It's a mix of simple and complex with a manifold amount ways to play around with it.
I've been searching fruitlessly for years for a game with similar creative gameplay and have found nothing.
But so far I'm the only person I've met who has this opinion. It feels like I've taken a bucketload of crazy pills at one point in life and it's never worn off. What is it about Transistor's gameplay that makes people hate it so much? 😂
when I needed a transistor “rebound” the first time I played it, I played child of light. Barely similar but it was fun and cute
No, I played fine. I did all the challenges (that you unlock in a first play through), I spent all my time in turn() then running away until I started slotting jaunt into something, I tried a fair number of builds so I could unlock the lore… it’s just. Clunky and awkward. Maybe I played with too many difficulty thingies, but I didn’t like the game before them and I didn’t like it after (and rarely died, except some awkward two shot situations)
I think it’s the clunk that kills it. You find a strategy and mash the buttons in that order, then slowly run around helplessly while faster enemies poke you with hot sticks
Adding something jaunt + sparked (iirc) made it a bit more fun because you were allowed to exist outside of turn()
By the end I was using turn for quick buffs or to avoid attacks, but otherwise spamming some out-of-turn move because it was more fun and less risky with the weird “dying isn’t so bad” thing
There was a chunk of the game, maybe the third quarter, where I was having fun exploring builds and the fights were the right difficulty
But yeah, “freeze time to do fun things, then slowly crawl away from baddies until you can have fun again” not a compelling gameplay loop
If it was Pokemon you wouldn't think that's an issue
This is not a real time/turn-based hybrid, it's a turn-based game disguised as real-time
It’s absolutely a hybrid because the bad guys don’t take turns
You have to try to avoid them while moving slower than they do, helplessly
Yes
The cooldown is the bad guys' turn
Turn() is your turn
If anything in a true turn-based game you would be completely helpless during the cooldown
This is actually easier
That’s not how difficulty works - enemies hit pretty damn hard, they’d hit less hard if you didn’t have the ability to dodge their attacks (from a design perspective)
But even if it was, it’d be more fun because you wouldn’t feel like a snail trying to avoid attacks for like. 70% of the gameplay
Ok but you turn isn't meant to just hit hard and then die right? Part of it is meant to reposition
The reason Turn() seems longer than needed at times is because you are supposed to attack, then reposition, so when you snap out you are not immediately clobbered
Like I said I beat the game with all the bad trigger thingies on (except “recover less at stations” and maybe one more that seemed unfun), I figured out how to win
It just isn’t fun, and neither is losing
If you're the kind of person who plays with limiters I'd think you'd enjoy the tactical exercise
That this approach offers
Not to mention if you played the whole game again with limiters on did you really think it was that unfun?
Yeah, you’d think so - but instead it was just about finding a spammable combo and rolling my eyes at fights, hoping for more music
Unfun is a strong word. I didn’t like the first 25% or the last 10% very much (||Mans and Haircuts|| were easy, but annoying and very punishing if you messed up)
If the atmosphere wasn’t so good there’s no way I’d have continued, or if the game was much more than 6 hours
Combat was a cool experiment which was interesting to make builds for, but got in its own way a ton. I think that’s how I’d phrase it
I will give you that, ||Men|| were bastards. I kinda forgot about them because getting to ||Royce|| immediately after overshadows everything
And I definitely agree that the game aged as well as it did only because it didn't overstay its welcome. If it was the size of Hades maybe I would agree on it being tedious
It may be relevant than I’m not a big fan of turn based combat (unless it’s Slay the Spire or Into the Breach like)
But I liked this notably less lol
Well I don't know there are so many winning, if not gamebreaking combos -which is definitely intentional, since both Bastion before and Hades after follow very similar philosophies on power stacking-, it makes sense there is one that lets you skip the whole turn system entirely (and I vaguely understand which one you are talking about, but it has been so long since I last played). I think that's good design to have for those who want to do it (like you)
Not entirely, but jaunt() lets you do stuff outside of turn() which meant that turn was for setup and survival, and I could blast away outside of it which made the game feel interactive instead of spammy
Well yes Jaunt() was an indispensable part of many of my build, and Spark() and I think? Ping() (as an Upgrade) lets you really snipe a lot of fights
Yeah, I bounced between spark() and bounce() with jaunt() and ping() as upgrades, iirc
Not to mention Switch() as an upgrade is essentially infinite stall if you need it
It's the one that turns enemies friendly
I found it more useful in real-time
Turn a big group just before Turn(), absolutely thunderc*** the strongest one which I keep unturned, then deal with the rest
Fair! I took a lot of very short turns by the end
See just talking about it awakes memories
I really want to see that system again, with all the added knowledge of Hades on top of it
But if anything Bastion needs that remaster slot much more
Everytime I replay the game I end up with the same build is kinda sad
Also a really niche but really really fun one was Void(Get) + Void(Get) + Void(Get) + Cull(Purge)
Void + cull my beloved
Though I did cull(get) so the enemy doesn't go flying
Void (Purge + tap) is also fun
Not very important when your enemy gets disintegrated to the molecular level after
Lifesteal build
Yesss vampire build
If you wanna feel silly try Help() passive
It's weak but boy does it feel good when it works
That's kill() right
Yesh
I used it on my first playthrough all the way up to the spine iirc
Also shotout to bounce() passive
That shield does so much lol
Replaying transistor on my steamdeck, forgot how amazing the music, story, and gameplay are
Also apparently SuperUser is a reference to earlier stages of the game where Blue was the protagonist and Red was his spirit companion
Ngl that sounds bad, glad it never went through
Sword bf is so good so yeah, same
I once had Transistor/Blue mentioned as the USBoyfriend
Still haven't emotionally recovered from that one

The drunk sword bf sections are so good
My biggest jumpscare on a replay was him singing we all become
the super lifesteal void guide on steam changed my life
you can change it around a little and it’s still so absurdly strong, no turn needed essentially
same lol eventually I had to make a rule for myself to not use it on replays
Obviously I don’t use it when I play from a completely new game but when the time to replay for the story hits me, you know I have it equipped
Ok I'm ready to play this
🥳
Why isn't the game detecting my controller?
I literally launched the game using it
Ok it's working, not sure why 😆
No, you get them back at the next checkpoint
Or access point or whatever they're called
Getting overloaded isn't a big problem either
What's overloaded?
Oh so you can die during boss fights?
So this makes it kinda easy?
I'm on Sybil
When you lose all your health you don't die exactly, you 'only' lose a function. If you lose all your functions you just reset to the last checkpoint or sth like that
Spark other functions doesn't include the skill being used right?
happy new year, everyone!!
2024 caught me hunting the transistor 100%
almost there
only 9 achievements left
Well, I beat the game in one session. It's an amazing game, but too short. Also, I was having an easy time by the end, except the final boss, which was a bit harder
That's crazy! According to my achievements history, I took two days, then I went through for a NG+ shortly afterward
Game's pretty short
On steam I took a while cuz of laziness but once I got the vibe I also did it in that same session
I played it a lot of times and yeah it’s relatively short but I feel like it’s still impactful
Idk how long your session was but at one point I think I finished it in 3 hours
You play with all limiters? The overload ones are too nasty
They should make a longer version. But they are probably just doing hades. Probably hades is a better Game anyway
At least it has way more play styles
But the music, story, ambiance, all is good in this game
What do corrupted cells do? DMG?
they shoot you and i think it has a small stun
ive played with all limiters before, to complete their entry. but i dont usually play with limiters
i also disagree i think the game is perfect as it is - and that its not really comparable to hades in gameplay or story
It's a short story to the absolute novel that is Hades
I played I'd 3 limiters first playthrough and now have a bunch. 16% xp
It would probably be too easy without
Beat it again. I had all limiters except the overload ones
Any point in beating again?
if you have any achievement left ig
Recently 100% transistor, amazing game. Onto bastion next!

That is terrifying

Favorite transistor song go
Old Friends for instrumental. i’m not sure i can pick a favourite voiced song tbh
in circles for vocal, waterwall for instrumental
The Spine is the one vocal one I find myself drawn to time and tome again but they’re all quite good
mmmmm not official but that _n c_rcl_s duet
old friends and the spine
The spine or paper boats
But any of them really
Oddly enough, sandbox was the one that stuck to my mind the most as well
it's hard to choose.. i think of the instrumental my picks would be impossible/old friends, she shines for vocal
Oooooh sandbox and coasting
Oh how could i forget about hummed blank canvas :(((
Hummed songs are on another lvl
its too hard to just say one. Instrumental wise you cant beat old friends, but close ones are vanishing point and gateless. But wait i forgot about coasting and sandbox. They're all just too good
We all become has always been my favorite vocal
Gateless! 💙 And I really love Forecast and Tangent as instrumental/hummed combos
And The Spine for vocal
Spine or she shines is really good, but paper boats just has so much emotion in it 😭
I love paper boats but for me it's more of a song id have to want to listen to specifically and search it up so I can focus on enjoying it
Whereas the spine is more versatile and is nice to come up on shuffle
putting aside songs with vocals or humming, i loooove apex beat
apex beat is so good ur so right for that
Bringing this video back because of apex beat
i saw it, and i love it
Best Vocal: In Circles
Best Instrumental: Old Friends
Most Loopable: The Spine (Instrumental)
Most Underrated: Signals
It’s a tie between Paper Boats and Impossible for me
The turn planning for my Help() dog things is weird? It starts well before the screen, and I can't cancel anything I've planned before it reaches the screen.
In Circles
revisiting this channel makes me want to revisit Transistor
I really do miss how early Supergiant games made me feel back then
like every song with lyrics from transistor is a masterpiece
they should just release more albums from Red, i would listen to all of them

It's ok the country is actually India so she's going to produce Indie music
I made a 3D model of the Transistor
https://fxtwitter.com/_jasonliu_/status/1746224867513389349
very vague and confusing story but fun to try to piece things together
hi, i'm looking for video essays on Transistor but there's like 10 total on youtube?
perhaps any of you know any content where Transistor is mentioned in passing or smth, i don't know at this point xd
specifically looking for something focusing on Transistor's meaning or philosophy
found some great 10 year old reddit threads but that's about it
I don't know about video essays but I could give you a block of text of me a analysing a main part of transistor
I could dm it to you
that'll do, thanks
I need a gameplay tutorial fr
i liked this one a lot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h4YEQqLqtY

Got reminded about this art trend while listening to the ost, and while you know, red/sword bf would be the obvious
Red/sybil
(and before I forget, art is from the manga Veil)
red sybil...
McCarthyism intensifies
just finished this one, liked it a lot as well up until the conclusion
the conclusion they reach and the language they use is the exact reason why i feel lonely all the time
i don't feel like i belong anywhere because of this very language, i struggle to find acceptance
"She rejects that power in order to gain what really
matters to her, it's notable that this isn't choosing love over power or at the expense of the rest of her life.
It's a common trope in romance for the woman to give up her own life and all the things she had going for her to be with a man, and that's a kind of a problem.
But regardless of how ubiquitous an idea that is, that ending wouldn't suit Red. Transistor isn't about how much we would sacrifice for love or anything like that"
the language is very assuming
i believe it is very much about choosing love at the expense of everything else, i don't think it is ubiquitous, i don't think it is a common trope, not anymore, not in the current day and age that allows and encourages as much independence as one wishes
and it certainly wasn't a common trope in the medium of videogames, ever
why wouldn't that ending suit Red? the game is open wide for interpretation, does this sentence have to sound so certain about the motives of a character that never tells what she wants herself to anyone but her partner through the OVC terminals?
"You're all i have.
There has to be...
There has to be a way to get you out of there."
i like to believe that Red's sole motivation throughout the game was to see her partner again
society views people that largely depend on others for comfort as weak, and this mindset very problematic
and it probably does warn and discourage a lot of people from developing this overdependence on love in the first place, but what happens to those that are far too gone, for those beyond recovery and change? what if being wholly dependent on love and external warmth becomes a part of their identity?
society & culture shy away from an answer, even pretend people like me don't exist or say that they don't deserve acceptance, based solely on my personal experience with codependency
and Transistor doesn't
at least with the way i personally interpreted the game's meaning and the ending
it finally accepts me for who i am, it tells me a story i could finally relate to, shows me a character i could finally relate to
Hah, this reminds me of the "religion is for the weak" table guy at my university. Cynical people replied to that like "darn right", but the actual meaning was that The Lord looks out for the weak, the voiceless, and the marginalized; he invites people to rest in him (rather than trying to live life on one's own as like an orphan) and cares for those who learn to rely on him or as they learn to rely on him
Probably a funny slogan to see as an uppity university student at a top university. Probably also rings funny to YouTubers' ears
What is codependency?
unhealthy level of dependence on relationships, often leading to the destruction of self
Oh maybe I misunderstood you slightly then
just finished transistor the other day after starting it five years ago
cant stop thinking about the game

i found the ng+ really interesting for it fyi, if you want to continue the experience
~~or you could join the speedrunning scene if that interests you
~~
You speedrun transistor? How cool
ty uwu it's a good speedgame!
i really wish we had more people running it but it is what it is
The only thing about transistor speed is that load() + help() was/is broken
we use that to instakill each royce phase :D
there's also the various noclips that are pretty cool
i also just finished transistor... after starting it earlier today, i love the style and how coherent story and game mechanics are, that's something supergiant do really well
Transistor mechanics are really fun
wanted to say something about this though because your interpretation made me curious. i agree with the last sentence, red's motivation being her partner. and obviously if that resonates with your experience that's great. i didn't understand it as an allegory or whatever for codependency or anything similar though, since there literally are no other people she could turn to instead of her partner. there is no world she gives up to be with him
also, completely unrelated, i like that the camerata dude with the same voice actor as thanatos from hades also has the same haircut as than
i believe she gives up on the world multiple times throughout the game
not just in the ending
i believe the reason why the plot seems so ambiguous is because we see everything from Red's perspective
we see the plot through her eyes
she, ultimately, doesn't care enough about politics or society in large
as mentioned in her database entry
"she never wrote her music with intent to stir controversy."
It doesn't help that sword bf is the one doing all the talkin
huh, this makes a lot of sense. i didn't read the database yet, just played the game one time
to begin to understand what's happening the player would need to spend multiple hours unlocking database entries of 16 different characters
something a casual player wouldn't do
it would be tedious, especially if the player doesn't enjoy using someone's function
but anyone
absolutely anyone who plays the game would feel
would understand the connection Red has with Auden (USBoyfriend)
because that's what's important to Red
Huh, where did that name come from
that's what mattered to her
have absolutely no recollection where i saw the usboyfriend thing first
but i'm in love with this nickname
I'm used to blue/boxer/sword bf lol
First time seeing auden
Or 2nd, prob somewhere in tumblr
tis his name in the game files
boxer's fine and probably the most fitting
taking into account his early design
Blue is funnier
xdd
The databases entries are goated
~~mainly the camerata ones as those are the ones I remember ~~
just remembered that part after visiting her apartment when sword bf (i like that nickname) says something like "you locked yourself out, how will you get back in? ...oh"
things like that?
uhh
i think it's more so her way of accepting that things will never be the same way they were?
she's in relationship with the sword bf right
sword bf willingly chose "non selection" or smth like that right
basically chose to not participate in society
at all
i feel like in her situation, accepting that she won't return home is sorta the same as giving up on the world
Slightly change of theme
Thoughts on cloudbank being a real city or a virtual reality
she chose to be in a relationship Auden
instead of Sybil
Sybil is in love with Red, very much obsessed
aaaand Sybil is basically the embodiment of society, she's extremely outgoing
constantly organizing events
Red doesn't sing many praises for Sybil
a quote from in circles
"I hear you buzzing, a fly on the wall
In through the window and up through the hall
Flying in circles just trying to land"
idk if it's disgust per say but
you get the point
Sybil is the embodiment of chaotic, constantly moving society
Auden is the complete opposite of that
isolated, content with spending the rest of his days as a giant cyberpunk sword thing as long as he can be with a woman he loves
pretty sure it's a virtual space
If it can be deleted, it's probably virtual. Else the Process is using a lot of white paint
really love you can see the dress cut off at the start of the game
yup
the deep lore of cloudbank being a digital space coming from a steam summer sale alien minigame
For me it always feels so weird cuz like then what's the country
Is just their irl or like actual death
well its not deep lore, just something very argued about
(or shortened, it feels weird how heavy it feels if its just virtual then they can see irl)
Idk if its just me tho
the country can be anything you wish
Or maybe it can't 🙀
i thought the country is another virtual world inside the transistor
another question is, if the world is virtual, are the people real? because purely based on vibes i thought it's supposed to be the kind of dystopia that poses as a utopia, you know, with people going to live inside virtual worlds
i saw mentions of sybil 👁️

hii
dont worry i wont 😭
i agree usually with a lot of points made abt her, yours included lol. no hard feelings at all
its nice seeing how people see her outside of what we're told in game
the soundtrack is insane
the gameplay feels extremely polished and everything else is so polished
the ost is so good
there's also a bonus track that doesn't play anywhere in game

where does signals play
signals is only in the music player in the backroom afaik
may i ask you your opinion as to what she intended to achieve that evening?
was it just jealousy
a plan to dispose of both the camerata and red's partner and win her favor
really curious to hear ur opinion as a certified sybil expert
i love this song already
i had this impression from the ending that cloudbank is a city that only exists for as long as you play the game, so plunging the sword into that dood set a course of events that would lead to the finale of the game
honestly, it probably a mixture of jealousy and wanting to dispose of reds lover, at least thats how i see it
apparently i am now obsessed with this game so let me throw out some random thoughts and observations:
-
one more data point re: the city being a virtual world. just noticed the logo of the game is the / a (?) transistor's eye with the skyline in it
-
love the imagery and symbolism. eg going to the cradle is visually reminiscent of a descent into hell (hello hades) and royce' character image fits right in with him holding a process that looks like an apple (goodbye god)
-
replaying going up the tower to asher and grant is just heart wrenching when you know the back story. also kind of hurts that the game, or at least its narrator, calls them cowards. asher is basically doing the same thing red does at the end - going to the country for his love. he just also happened to have made some bad choices before that. (also asher is my favorite and so is his function)
talking about the penthouse have you spotted the kitty in there?
yes
kitty is a symbol for the independence asher lacked due to his commitment to grant, leading him to being responsible for killing everyone?
also also also yesterday i wondered if sybil is sgg's only openly lgbtq+ woman character so far, but i noticed bailey gilande's gender is given as x and her description talks about social challenges she faced in early life
Isn't dusa also aro/ace? might be misremembering
I'd says so yeah
I remember dusa also implied to be trans but honestly it’s been so long I don’t even know if I’m making it up or not
yes, absolutely
there's also artemis who can be read as sapphic or sapphic ace
the sequence of imagining a bridge to fairview freaked me out because it felt like the game was imagining a conclusion to the story
also i was really impressed with royce as a villain at the end of the game, his dialogue had a lot of gaslighting that i found intimidating and amazed by, felt like he was gaslighting me into giving up the transistor
Royce is my goat
(mainly through the VA but still)
And is also hard to get the first impression of his fight out of someone's head
"how about... Me"
how about… ZAWARDO
Also shotouts to the unused line of him going like "the transistor is such a powerful and mysterious thing and here you are, dragging it on the ground"
Low% is minimum level ups I assume?
minimum exp
royce is a massive danger & rng fest for that run, we only have bounce, jaunt, breach, crash and spark
oh lol i can imagine
doing an entire run for royce to do a different pattern at the start and you have to start all over
i mean you just have to learn to survive the rng really
and hope you do enough damage to skip his talks
and hope he masks just before attacking
my pb golded royce by 30s and i'm not touching low% again unless we find a new xp skip
it's a shame cause it's a really good glitch showcase run, but royce makes the run unfun
is the speedrunning community still very active?
not really

we had a burst of activity last year with Kass, Syna and i having friendly competition for any% wr
was good time
undo is running it at a french event this year and has picked it back up recently, and i've been trying to get a 33
but apart from us two rn it's not active
i really enjoy running it
it's very different from other speedgames that i've tried - jaunt has a .95 recovery and is the optimal movement a lot of the time, so you jaunt, have almost a second to plan your next jaunt, ect
if you misdo a jaunt you do lose almost a second
it makes for very interesting movement
I've been meaning to pick it up as a speedgame...I keep getting distracted
that bridge. are the statues just statues of red and sword bf? if so... why?

also! when you fight royce, you're in the country. why is sword bf not there? it has the same farm building you can see in the credits.
finished the story a second time and now i have even more questions. the amount of my questions is recursive
i imagine sword bf is in sword you use to fight
so the fight isn't in the same country he's been in all the time?
think so? or it is in a representation of it
oh, wait. is it that when you return the transistor to the cradle, it takes you to the world outside and when the transistor loads you you get in?
hmm
my interpretation is that you're fighting in what is essentially the 'mid-way point' between cloudbank and "the country"
she's not fully integrated until she stabs herself with the transistor, which is why the traces are in the pod things and not looking like real people (including sword bf)
and also why the giant transistors in the field aren't there when she gets integrated
that is a good explanation, was wondering about the missing transistors as well
Yall think there might be a possibility of a pop up parade for red? (they did one for zagreus in hades)
Red had a figure as a collab with welovefine
But yeah, it’s out of stock forever I think
The last of them were sold on fangamer a while ago
there were red figurines on fangamer?
I wanted to grab it but got hit by Shipping()
oh i got grabbed by ebay scalpers before the "rerun" and yet
absurd price and i paid it. it was worth it for her....
how much d'you pay if i may ask
was it that bad xd
yes
still thinking about this game
do y'all think everyone whose trace got loaded lives like an actual person in the country inside the transistor?
royce is stuck in the midway part?
the people who didn't get loaded were just processed by the, well, process?
royce gets stuck in the midway part when he helps you get the process away
ok one more question
what's up with asher's cat. why does it have red eyes. is it a process? do red eyes just go better with his scarf?
maybe both hehe
i did the same 😔 those scalpers go crazy
how bad can it possibly be
u're peaking my curiosity
recently I saw around 90$ usd?
Not sure if thats changed
when i bought mine it was about 65ish
today i have an observation instead of a question
it's obvious the art of transistor was partly inspired by the work of gustav klimt, and the piece i see mentioned in that regard is always "woman in gold", which... yes. however, what the early concept art of red reminds me of is another piece by klimt, called "medicine". it has the swirl
can't link an img in this channel so you'll have to google klimt medicine and watch the noclip transistor documentary on youtube for the concept art to see what i mean
tl;dr me doing important high brow art analysis: like, there's a swirl
thanks
Wowie
The real question is where is his cat after he went x_x
the fact you can see it where you find them is heartbreaking - i hope it somehow made it out unscathed
this, too. i kept thinking about him saying "how grant could leave me, i don't know" and then leaving kitty behind
i mean obviously there's a difference brtween human you love and partner with and a pet, for most people. but narratively there's a parallel
I hope so too, but the fact that everything went blank makes me think otherwise 😦
To me, a pet is a family member. Just one that doesn't pay rent and is either fluffy or scaly.
Honestly speaking humans are a mixed bag, but I can't think of any cats or dogs I haven't adored. So by my logical pets>humans
i'm on the seeing pets as family members side as well, and since kitty is on asher in every single img before the incident as well i'm inclined to assume we're meant to see them as very close too.
some people however are offended by comparing animals to humans too closely, so i felt like i should add that
oh pets are family members for sure
got the worlds' first 33m (and 49s) to complete the game :D
whoa, that is fast. nice!
Think Supergiant peoples are gonna do anything for the 10 year anniversary for Transistor?
i hope so :’)
a merch restock for transistor would go crazy for the anniversary 🙏
they should make figures of the camerata for the anniversary
i would die to get my hands on a sybil one
PLEASE i want that poster so bad
vinyl pretty please
Hello Supergiant - I recently started a Lets Play of your game Transistor on my channel, and it got a "Monetization Sharing" restriction on it for the first song that plays with words (I don't want to be specific to avoid spoilers). Not a huge deal, but was just curious if this was normal, or did I do something in error on my part? My channel name is Benjamight Gaming, if looking it up is at all helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for making an amazing game! Bastion was my first game I played of yours, and it too was phenominal. Thanks again.
did you read this https://www.supergiantgames.com/blog/policy-on-lets-play-videos/
may have to take it up w youtube idk
Supergiant Games is a small independent game development studio in San Francisco, known for its award-winning titles Hades, Pyre, Transistor, and Bastion.
Yeah, I found that... kind of why I thought I might have done something wrong. 😦
YouTube isn't giving me the option to dispute the claim either.
Was the claim by maedasalt by any chance? @lilac berry
Spoilers are ok in this channel btw ^-^
Yep, looks like it.
I was going to add a quick screen shot, but looks like I can't upload images. @stone shoal
Can you dm me the screenshot if possible please
or you can host the image somewhere and share the link
When I open Transistor in steam it just closes instantly with no error message, or at least I see the game icon flash on the taskbar then vanish instantly, has anybody had or heard of this issue and its fix?
just bought the collectors edition of transistor off ebay and im rlly excited for it to arrive soon 🥳
what's going on?
Everytime i alt tan the game resolution changes
try updating your GPU drivers yet?
I realized that i had not and the last driver was kinda broken for mutliple games where fullscreen just causes graphical issues
oh nice! did that fix it?
Did you manage to 100% it?
My PC broke just before the end
I'll do it when I get a new one
It did temporarily but the issue actually came back lol
get a new one? bruh just fix ur pc
It's a 10+ year old laptop
I'm just gonna let it rest
That's like 80 in laptop years!
This is probably the most similar-sounding song to Transistor's soundtrack and vibe i've found in all my years especially from 1:21 onwards
yeah definitely darren korby
i really hope i dont get spoiled being here but
i can't stand not playing a supergiant game. time to try transistor. \o/
Youll love it!
gl with transistor!!!
my favorite supergiant game
& probably my favorite story focused game ever
Month till the anniversary
got it in my calendar. Will probably at least have a listen session with the vinyl i was able to get to celebrate. Might try to get through a replay, but thats a time constraint on a monday
Speaking of which, anyone else order the transistor vinyl from iam8bit and not get it yet? It's been sitting at "label created" with USPS since the 10th and iam8bit says the order is fulfilled
There was probably a large rush of orders all at once, best to just wait a bit longer
Oh for sure. I'd expect that to have it "awaiting fulfillment" like the songs of supergiant order is sitting at
Sadly I couldnt get that one in time
Got hades transistor and bastion though
would love some pyre vinyls
I want pyre to come back sooo bad
that big bundle being restocked wouldve been nice too
The 10th anniversary one? I doubt it will be
Yeah me too but it wouldve been really cool
It was like 300 dollars anyway IIRC so it’s an investment lmfao
I'm in a similar boat, yes.
I'm very excited for when it does arrive though.
one might say, a paper boat?
its sooooo good
the switch from "you" to "we" at some point in the song is such a cool detail
Also shoutout to blank canvas (hummed)
Waterwall too
Fav transistor vocal track is prob she shines tho
That ones great
Tied with in circles
We all become I'm slightly less of a fan but that one sword bf moment makes up for it
Where he starts singing some of the lines
old friends is one of my favorite tracks of all time
It somehow encapsulates all of transistor in one song for me
Royce's theme my beloved
Is that impossible?
He was a very compelling character
On one hand, I wish there was more information about all the characters, especially the Camerata, but I still love how much is left up to interpretation - Royce is one of my characters & his voice is excellent.
Dude is just done and I stand with him
Wonder what he’s doing in the country now
I forget where I saw it, but I will never forget that someone said that out of boredom, he'd be cataloging the type of wheat in the Country. 😭
that is so royce
Transistor II when?
mmm i wonder what they could do for that
probs just explore the wider world and whatever happened w the process afterwards
After Pyre II
Both of which come after bastion II
If it means I get Pyre II, I'm fine with that
Pyre II but is just a manage the commonwealth game
Or follow barker's version of the rites
or set it at a later time and make it about trying to connect the downside to the commonwealth
Kinda hard with pyre because a lot of what happens varies so much between each persons play through
is your username a homestuck reference
nope, it’s a common name!
Could work if it goes for a wide jump
Like, not "ten years later" later time, "ten thousands eons" later time
Honestly I don't super care about seeing what comes after or before the events of Pyre, I'm mostly interesting in getting back the overall vibe of Pyre
yeah, that’s what i was thinking - at least a few generations later
pretty sure there wasn't much of a wider world than cloud bank and if there was it probably stopped existing after the events of transistor
henlo
haven't been here in a while
so 👏
i've got something... unusual to share
so i've been playing some hades on a kinda weird setup
an iphone 12 with a ps4 controller connected via bluetooth
it works surprisingly well
so i had an idea
i went back to check how transistor works with this setup
and...
well - it's better than using touch controls (even if it still runs at 30
)
but then i started fiddling with controls and i realised...

it's using the xbox button thingys
but...
A is green on an xbox controller
