That’s fine! First region is often the tightest on time because a) you’re at your weakest and b) you add on remaining excess time to the next regions so you typically have effectively more

All weapons are pretty similar in strength, but I can instead give you some general build advice or fight strategy for the Sirens

• if you have big aoe damage (such as with the axe or arguably flames), it’s good to try and bunch them together to hit multiple at once
• if you have mostly single-target focused damage (such as with the staff or blades), it is usually recommended to focus killing off one at a time, usually drummer first
  • if you survive till the very last phase with Scylla summoning a bunch of fish, the best strat is to pop a cast circle right on her and stay in it as you attack; the circle will ward off the fish so you don’t waste time trying to dodge them

If there is a weapon whose playstyle you lean more towards too, we can give some more specific advice for either combos or boons

Melinoe staff is the safest provided if you are willing to level it up. Slap Apollo special on it and start orb spam

But yeah in general all weapons are similar and you just have to adapt.

Surface is about one level higher than the underground though so don’t get discouraged

Meaning by the 3rd surface boss it feels as if you are fighting the final boss of the underworld

Should I start like in hades 1 where you start at 1 fear, then 2, etc, or just go straight to 15

do the testaments, that's the game's version of incrementing the difficulty for you

Very much personal preference, but for most people I’d advise to just increment it based on what you need for bounties/testaments

But like I just jumped straight from Fear 16 UW to Fear 32 so ymmv

Why is black coat lwk the worst weapon

Treat its omega attack as a defence mechanism, load Poseidon or Hestia on the special with Zeus attack and Hera sprint will be a good starting point to make the coat not suck

But yeah ultimately the coat’s problem is it feels there are more preparation during actual combat to make it work compared to the other weapons. It feels like a deliberate design direction

On my 1.0 new save I barely touched the coat until the actual ending. That’s around 30-40 hours of me not touching the coat at all lol. But Nyx and Shiva can be fun in their own ways

I go to the chaos trials to finish it he uses it’s extremely busted and short

So once I get out I use the chosen weapon to a real run lol

But 99% of the time it’s not even the coat trial. Just the very first one where you have 9000 health

Theres some amount of auto aim where you will aim at an enemy even if it isn't exactly in your movement line

But for the most part you can only aim in thr same direction you are currently moving on controller

all of them have their uses! so I rotate between them
the cat is maybe my least used, but I've been using her more when trying to do high fear runs

bird = crit chance
frog = max hp and blocks some projectiles for you
||dog|| = max magick (and some magick restoration now and then)
||polecat|| = dodge chance and 3 blocked hits per region
and then ofc the cat gives you an extra DD and does some damage if you wake her up.
they also each help gather a specific type of resource, so if I need ore/seeds/psyche I may bring the corresponding familiar along

So when you do damage via Olympian effects (Scorch, Blitz, blasts, etc), you'll see a little bar fill up. When you use your OSpecial, that bar depletes and you get bonus duration on it (you can also steer it, which is also why it's known as the mom car)

each Hex is associated with a specific olympian god. if that god is in your pool (i.e. you have a boon from them), then the godsent upgrade will appear. it can be there from the start as soon as you get the hex or be added if you get the god later in the run

Oceanus greets me with singing lulling me into a feeling of pleasure with a backdrop of dread. I meet Scylla and the Sirens, and finally realise the appeal of the Sirens in the Greek Myths. I move on. The Fields of Mourning greet me. An everextending plain, barren and broken, full of sorrow. And at the end, is the ultimate source of sorrow: WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY BOY CERBERUS???? Then I descend into Tartarus, rage filling me. He beat my dog and threw him out of the house after turning him feral. HE CHAINED MY FATHER AND DEFILED HIS REALM. AND HE DID A "MAKEOVER" OF MY HOUSE, TAKING DOWN PAINSTAKINGLY PUT UP DECORATIONS AND REPLACING THEM WITH HIS UGLY FACE. DEATH TO CHRONOS. And as I fight Chronos, I see it. Everything up to this point has been preparing me to fight him. Hecate summoning her Witches. The Sirens having area based attacks. It's all so I can beat Chronos.||

I’m a noob with 0 wins after 20 nights despite having 28 grasp, maxed Mel aspects…clearly it’s a skill issue lol. Since people have done “fresh save first run” wins.

a few things:

not getting your first clear in 20 runs is still very normal, the fact that you made it to ||chronos|| in those runs still is impressive in terms of the average player. those fresh file runners are not new players to the game

Strength is good but yeah until you’re a bit more used to the gameplay, i’d suggest you turn on Death, 3 death defiances is great, especially as you’re learning the enemies move sets and such (and the fact that you’re mostly struggling against ||Chronos||, which death defiances give you more effective HP compared to the strength for the one fight)

taking a defensive keepsake such as tooth or pin in the 4th region is a very common and very good strategy, yes.

And yeah DDs are better for clearing until you learn to avoid oneshots

It doesn’t have a lot of inherent damage but Hitch (Hera) helps. You need to use the cast damage and origination (if you have those on your arcana)

Hubris is really simple to deal with! Its easily one of the most nothing fears especially if you get good regen stuff, denial takes some getting used to and more often than not you'll learn to narrow down whay you need to a handful of boons then stop taking gods(later in the run when they force swapping core boons) all together

I tend to start with Selene keepsake to juice up the hex ASAP, then either reroll for Ares or grab his keepsake for region 2
since Ares feels so mandatory for the godsent hex, I tend to grab gods who have nice duos with him, like zeus (+apollo), poseidon, hestia. hera is also nice, for hitch + magick regen + fine lines to charge your hex faster

the only purple that is worth it imo is the one that makes 3 light beam come down

it's not amazing vs bosses but at high fear room clear matters a lot tbh, and edit: it's still good versus bosses, the aspect bonus just matters less
and multiple bosses in the game have some level of AoE

and then versus single target bosses it's not bad, because it's just Mel Coat, and Mel coat also isn't bad lol
some of the time if you play Selene at really high fear you end up just ignoring omegas and playing it like Mel coat (same with Shiva)

I’d probably go hestia, poseidon, or zeus 🤷 it likes on-hit effects a lot (so does nyx)
I don’t play it as much as some people tho
