I'd say you are in the minority, I don't think they are that hard either but most people do and that makes a positive first impression on them. The existence of difficulty options imo makes people play normal once, think it's too easy and braindead and then they never try the other ones. There's a reason most games of this genre are not selling well, dmc being the exception

a tip for the tongue shockwaves tho (which you may or may not know): if you stand in the bottom right corner you're 100% safe and out of their range. I usually stand there for two then dash through the third to get back to damaging him

it can be hard to get there while slowed, but still, good to know it's a safe zone and that you don't need to i-frame/actively dodge every shockwave

It's not a flame, it's the boon symbol. Your keepsake, aspect, and familiar all appear on the "boons" screen despite not actually being boons, so when you enter the training grounds and activate those things, it shows your boons, grasp, and fear.

tbh all three of these gods work really well together!
heph attack or special + apollo cast or sprint + anything from hestia in your core 5 slots will unlock a bunch of great duo boons for heph blasts 👀 very very fun combo

I’m getting honestly dogged on in the second area, like I’m consistently doing the first area easy and killing the final boss of that area but then dying quite fast in the next one

is a specific thing killing you, i.e. maybe the fish swarms or something?

a general tip a lot of new players need: use your cast a lot
in hades 1 the cast was kinda bad until you got a boon on it, but in hades 2 it gives you a crazy amount of safety and crowd control. "ABC, always be casting"

Also getting mana boons and using the moves that consume mana on weapons generally help

I feel the game is more about combining weapon movesets and using them all together rather than spamming one move to victory after upgrading it

stops most enemies from moving! so may as well always have one out, to hold enemies in place + stop swarms of enemies (like the small fish) from getting to you
also one of the best arcana cards makes you do more % damage to enemies inside the circle

cast boons are also all very good, with one of the most universal ones being arctic ring from demeter since freeze is op
