rivals scylla is kinda notoriously tough tbh
you may have better luck doing 32 fear without multiple ranks of rivals, and practicing rivals scylla without other fear so you can always come in at full HP with a good build and no added challenges

there isn't an alternate ending, but there is an epilogue + more plot
(and imo the epilogue includes the actual emotional climax of Mel's story and is better lol, but that's just my opinion, and other parts of the epilogue are just okay)

defensive stuff may help too!
Lovers (arcana) if you aren't using it, Frinos for more HP, armor from Heph, dodge chance, daze from Apollo, max HP upgrades, weakness from Aphrodite... no shame in just stacking defensive upgrades. it can let you win and keep you alive longer so you get more practice dodging each attempt
(not all of those at once lol that's a lot to line up, but that sort of thing)

Like, I understand mentally how i should dodge but the execution is always off. Then again, I was significantly better in ea at just point dodging stuff so idk

muscle memory will set in eventually, too. which is why I recommend grabbing stuff that keeps you alive longer, so you train your eye + hands to get better at dodging. even if you get hit a lot you'll still have more time to learn. good luck, it's a rough fight, very much a bullet hell

yeahhh the cooldown on the parry is too long to really get much out of it defensively (esp in that specific fight lol), and then you're stuck with really short range
is there a long range aspect you like, or one with more passive damage?

Strength is faster, DDs are safer
I prefer DDs when trying to play high fear (or just higher than I'm used to), and recommend it when learning new bosses (like rivals fights) as a safety net so you have more time to learn per attempt.
strength isn't as op as before, has been nerfed a couple ways, but is still great

OH also heph blasts are extremely good if you go all in on them lol
and blitz is great, if you like torches you can p much always put it on specials and it'll be good.
if you played h1 it's kinda like doom, but it'll trigger faster the faster you deal damage, so with high DPS you just get a ton of extra damage out of it very quickly. it's arguably the best status effect in the game

For every other weapon I just needed one aspect to max level (5) while having the other two unlocked and then I would go and talk to the correct person to get the hidden aspec unlocked. Steam deck is absolutely wonderful for some games and not so much for others. A lot of games are “Steam deck verified” but barely playable as it’s largely a political thing and big publishers put a lot of pressure on Valve to certify them I think, or maybe even Valve wants to attract more payers so they can get their cut. But that is not a problem here. On the flip side, a lot of games that aren’t verified still work really really well. There’s a huge amount of stuff it can do well, but don’t expect to run anything graphic intensive.

Yes and you can run a lot of emulators and stuff too if you like to tinker, as you have full access to the OS. You aren’t locked into Steam games even though is clearly designed for that experience. Some Steam games that don’t work or work poorly with default settings can be made to work well if you tinker or try different compatibility versions for instance. It is mainly an issue with older games though.

It’s not at all clear what it does from in-game information. The only use is that if you abandon a run and start a new one, you normally get the same seed. But if you salute the oath, you get a new random seed instead.

Hi new here. I was wondering if it's intentional or a bug but I usually just leave athena's gorgon keepsake on as the preferred one and i'm at the end of the game and it's not triggering weirdly. I don't have any death defiances and no death arcana, no toula, and not chao's defiance either
