bosses have traits unique to operation siren, they have icons that say if they are resistant to air strikes or shelling or torpedo damage, as you would expect, you pick the boss fleet that isn't being resisted to take them on

#

scanning said fleets should give further detail and help familiarize you with the icons to look out for

#

furthermore, abyssal bosses in the red treasure nodes, once fought once, usually by the mobbing fleet, will show what they are vulnerable to, likewise, you pick the fleets to exploit their weaknesses.
