For boss you need as much damage as possible

it is not too necessary to max retrofit if your ship still able to handle that map

as long as the gap between your fleet lvl and the map lvl is not too far you are ok

Vanguard: Portland (tank), Helena, Sandy (depends on you).

*BackLine: *Perseus, Gascogne U (flag), Impero (?)
OR
BackLine: Akagi, Nagato (flag), Kaga
*Vanguard: *Yukikaze (tank, but requires max "unsinkable ship" skill and if you have a better tank, replace her), Laffey, Z46 or London.

Note: Yukikaze is a decent tank as long as you don't let her eat too much shells.
If Yukikaze is really a mess, then you switch to ... Prinz Eugen for temporary till you have better one.
