Laffey is good, she's a very balanced option for a starter
She does great when retrofitted as well, the same goes for Z23
Akane is a solid flag ship
Sandy is great for AA, but she doesn't get good until retrofitted though usable before
You need her retrofit item too in the shop
Ark Royal is a great boss nuke, gets even better after retro
Not too sure on Chary since she just came out

You use a lot of resources for one, so that's why in the early game it's best to focus on progress so you can get resources you need

Not really, as long as you have the resources for it you can retrofit a ship, only thing is that it takes time to get them
At the moment focus on world progression, use your gems on QOL changes and leveling up ships
At least that's what I did

At this point in the game, you can progress through worlds easily by overleveling ships, there's not much to think about until about world 12 or 13

When you get to 11-1, it's a good place to start farming that world
you need to limit break your ships
That and gear matters, but that'll only get better with time
Keep opening tech boxes, the yellow ones
If you can't get a hand on those open elite ones and use them as transitional gear
though there are some elite gears that are better than gold

There's not a lot of outstanding ships right now, but I would probably say Akane boss, ark royal, and hornet
Akane and Ark you can invest in for later game content
Ark royal is very good when retro too
vanguard for boss I would say indy, z23, chary
Mob vanguard would probably be Phoenix, Laffey, and San Diego
mob main fleet.. I don't see a lot of options, but it would probably be Long Island, Queen Eliz, and probably Chaser
All temp though, you want to find new ships as soon as you can

Placements matter because the one in the front takes the most dmg, so you'd want to put a tank
middle takes the least
one on the far right takes 2nd most, so an off tank or a decently tanky ship can go there

you have a lot of purple bulins
also don't take this fleet into world 3, they're underleveled so probably play an earlier world
and put them in dorm
Use gems on dorm slots or dock slots that you get for free by completing the story
it's best to not use them on purchases like oil etc.. gems is a premium currency
no skill books or anything in the shop too , QOL changes will benefit you in the long run

when I got to cmdr level 50 I just spammed the 10 hour comms
then when I got to world 11-1 , I just farm that map to level up ships

if you farm 3-4 it stops your progression
progress further before going back to 3-4 so you can farm it safely
