unpopular opinion: just use the guild shop and buy portland for 300 guild coins, by time you get her though the exam missions she will have a long ways to catch up with the rest of the fleet, despite being a blue she scales better due to retrofit

portland is under rare, do note that grabbing her earlier is sortof a waste of 300 guild coins, but you can just use the copy from the exam to limit break and it avoids level catchup

you can also refresh the guild shop once per shop cycle, make good use of it, join a guild as soon as you can so you can start farming extra guild coins

if you want portland early, portland. if you want someone harder to get thats useful, phoenix or shouhou

phoenix can functionally replace indy until you get portland for free from the exam (and then you can move pheonix to your 2nd fleet, as you will eventually need 2 fleets), shouhou is a healer and can replace erebus.

portland is portland and is really good after her retrofit, making her a good long term investment, but you get her free eventually so...

considering what you already got, all 3 options listed are fine really, only thing that id consider a must is to either get shouhou from the rares, or unicorn from the elites

just to have a decent healer option that you can start leveling for when you start needing it

one thing thats included are exp books that you can feed your ships in order to help them catch up in levels or whatever

Unicorn is in the elite pool and doesn't really compete. She's not super important to get early and you will probably get either her or shouhou as a drop anyways.

Portland is a low priority, but viable if you really want to get early.

Phoenix is flexible and a safe pick in general

if you join a guild you can easily afford to buy 5 gold plates, refresh, and buy 5 gold plates on each shop cycle, and late game players will basically just always do this

so a player can buy 20 gold plates per week

as gold plates will always be an option

for each cycle/refresh

once able to join a guild do so, as the guild dailies and missions basically let you buy out everything of value from each cycle/refresh and you can treat the guild shop as basically free items
