and in the guild shop, grab unicorn and helena from elites ships

In my early game I mostly used carriers, because it seemed a lot easier to get good gear for them.

The great thing about Helena is you don't have to waste resources retrofitting her immediately. She's already pretty good as an elite. You can retrofit someone else like Portland. Port probs the first ship I'd recommend retrofitting.
She gets a lot better. I am 18 months into the game and I still regularly use her.

what is retrofitting?

You use retrofit blueprints to essentially make a ship go up a rarity. They usually get stat boosts, and sometimes skills. Portlands skills though aren't very useful

Ship gets more stats, goes up one rarity, usually gets one skills
and a skin

You can check the ships that can be retrofitted by going to the momento. Also not all ships that can be retrofitted will suddenly become great upon retrofit.
