Tirpitz/ Enterprise/ Kaga/ Portland /Laffey /Takao would probably be my boss fleet, and Hyuuga/ Unicorn/ Pennsylvania/ Bremerton/ Reno/ Atago for your mob fleet. Pick up Unicorn from the Guild Shop, as you need a healer for your mob fleet, and unfortunately Arizona just isn't good enough.

You don't need a guild to access the guild shop, and you start with 4k tokens.

Oh. In that case no. There are certain ships that will buff other ships from their faction, but it's not baseline in the game

Yep, no problems with that. Sometimes faction ships just naturally go together, but that doesn't have to be the case.

You can, but it generally takes quite a while to finish their development, and then make them usable. It's a multi-step process.

Not all characters have a retrofit, but there are 2 SRs that have one: Warspite and San Diego.
That said, they're both REALLY expensive.
Here's two examples. Enterprise doesn't have one even at max stars

If they have a retrofit, it will always show up, as soon as you get them
Also, just because they don't currently have a retrofit doesn't mean they won't add one later. Ark Royal's retrofit was just added, and I think she's been in the game since launch

It's hard to say, because any new ships you get can change that. Getting Essex, for example, would mean replacing Kaga. If you get Akagi, it might be worth replacing Enterprise, or moving her to mob fleet and replacing Hyuuga.

SR for both. Akagi's easier to get because she's a drop from 3-4, Essex is a build-only ship. There are a lot of options, though; Soryuu and Hiryuu are from ch. 3 as well, at elite rarity, and work really well together.
Getting another battleship might mean replacing Tirpitz
