depending on the content, many ships can "tank" the content, but tanks are definitely important. Also, everything you were told previously, forget it, it's so bad it's bordering on intentionally trying to screw you.

Xp books are for leveling up the ships to a moderate level before leveling the rest

Youll be gaining most of your xp by farming xp books are just so that your ships wont die starting out

Lv to like lv70 with books and do the rest from there

Once chikuma has levels, she’s tankier than San Fran and San Fran gives a little buff of damage if she’s in the third spot.

Hope you’re researching pr4 and eventually can have a haku with amagi. Also eventually you’ll have perm pool pity and can get a shinano

Make sure you level up ship skills.

Do you have hood and Saratoga’s unique augments made?

Make sure also to do opsi and look up gear guides of what to make.

limit breaking ships gives a good amount of faction tech. I'm impressed you're this far and can't do pr4 ships

We usually suggest beginners go straight to PR4 focus for collecting prints for agir and haku and the Tenrai bomber plane. The rest of the ships in PR4 can be coined, so you can quickly get to where you only have DR's left to do, and they show up more often when that is the case.
