If u mean up to 120 then yeah uncap all the ships that u are using now and plan to use for a while
If u mean from 120>125
U can hold off at the moment and decide later when u get to the hard chapters or bosses

few tips for fleet building for campaign (not opsi)
1- your first fleet is mob fleet mob fleet has a healer like unicorn so they can fight more than one node and regain HP
boss fleet only does one fight and usually the ships need to be stronger since the boss is strong
2- general tips for fleet building:
- u want a tank in the leftmost vanguard position. thanks have good stats or skills that make them survive better than other vanguard ships. for example portland has good HP and Evasion which makes her a good early game tank
-put a BB in flag position since u want them to intercept suicide boats with their aux guns. also some BB have barrages that prefer the center slot (flag)
- u generally want 2 CV in the other 2 slots (sometimes u can run a CV instead of BB) CV bring utility and help your AA and ACV stat against plane
3- U should mostly ignore faction fleets. dont make a full EU fleet or Full RN fleet
it will force u to pick bad ships and it is better to pick a good ship than just picking a bad ship because she is USS or RN etc
for now let me have a look to see what 2 fleets u can make for ch9+

I would wait for NJ or something. It's not that Unzen is bad. She's great. She's just not what you need right now.

try to not focus on a single piece to +10 when u need multiple of it especially the aux

u need to have 22 to make it 70% instead of 130%
it will make the stage a breeze

gold isn't always better than purple
it depends on the characteristics
in this case, leander gun gives more FP stat and has a good spread while being AP, so it's good at intercepting (there's not many bomb boats in opsi, only like 1 per fight but still a good budget option for campaign)

to be completely honest, the CL/CA guns especially here are extremely budget
not very good and you don't want to be using these for long at all. there's some stages where you could potentially get levels and grind out a good purple gun or two, or you could get some coins and open some gold boxes (these are only useful to buy/open for new players, they become pretty much useless later)

also i personally would use twin 203mm on the CAs over that gun
if you don't have better ready to build
the twin 203mm is an AP gun and it's very accurate, it's better than that gun against medium and heavy. that triple 203mm HE gun isn't very good imo since it has fixed cone pattern so the accuracy is really bad, not really worth the extra damage against light imo
the CL gun you are using on helena is also a fixed cone pattern gun that is typically used as an extremely budget interception gun and not really used on vanguards at all even as budget
probably would be better to use the spare leander gun on helena
it's not that good though, still being cone pattern, but the cone is a bit more focused and it is AP
for CAs though if you can get your hands on twin 203mm SK/C those are very good as budget
and for CLs, twin 150mm tbtsk
you can get them from iron blood boxes
