1- farm with good ships to have for opsi fleets/ later chapters
2- farm good maps for coin and xp for research academy and shipyard
3- get xp on ships that have decent tech at level 120
For example
Graf zepellin is a better CV than hornet
But I prefer to have a hornet at level 120 because she gives 1 acc to all mlb CV
Graf zepp gives 1AA which has much less value
The reason ark is a good ship to get is
1- she is an elite meaning u dont waste gold bulins
2- she is a good setup CV (not the best since AvP is better)
3- she is a good damage CV for bossing (my CV fleet for 4-6 months was avp/enty/ark royal)
4- she gives 2 ACC at 120 
Which is simply amazing
Meaning even if u stop using her when u get better bossing CV she is still benefitting u a lot and the xp u got on her was not wasted

For abyssals and arbiter
U want to have dedicated boss fleets
The reason we put 3 BB together or 3 CV is:
1- we can stack buffs
For example ships like kazagumo have ARA skill which increases CV damage by 15% (if u have 3 CV they will benefit more from that buff)
2- we can sync them together easier since most of the time BB have similar RLD to other BB and they can use the same gear with the same CD
It is hard to sync planes to BB guns
We want to have sync to maximize debuffs like helena and to ensure they land their bombs together (if we arei running a slow/stop)
3- some bosses have certain buffs that are good vs BB or CV
So having a Bb fleet and a CV fleet means u are not significantly hurt by those debuffs
