yea, you get abt 4k f2p gems as one off
optimal way to spend gems is get 1 dorm slot and second floor then dump the rest into dock space

it gives you however many slots your first floor has, hence its recommended to get one first floor dorm slot and second floor for a total of 6 slots

exp is just a bonus that you shouldnt care too much about

it only really helps for like the first 60 levels but beyond that youll barely see an increase in levels
most people exp pack to lv70-lv80 and then drag them through 12-1/12-4 until lv120

its because of how your ships move, your leftmost ship will always be the one in front so whoever is in that slot should be the tank
