As the title says Im a casual and returning player that never learned to properly play AL just liked the waifus, so here I am today asking for advice and help so I can start fixing my account and starting to play in a more serious way.
The main topics I want some veterans to help me are:

  • Gear lab and gear in general ( what to farm, whats best, how to get etc)

  • What should I be doing to advance to the endgame(what ships to build)

  • How to efficiently develop DR and PR ships and which ones to prioritize (never really understood how to get 3mil exp to develop)

  • Mob and boss fleets I can make to help me on story and OpSi

  • General tips so I dont fuck up my account again

Even common (gray N rarity) can reach chapter 10 if you level them to 110+. But that's a lot of grinding.
So other than sheer stage grinding, there's also Dorm (passive XP), booster packs (that your school cranks out passively depending on how much you upgraded it with gold) that immediately give XP, plus PvP exercises which give XP even if you lose.

You're going to need a lot of gold coins (among the other material) to upgrade weapons to +6 or higher, max limit break ships, raise to level 100+, etc. Farm the highest stages you can (e.g. 7-4 for now) for gold if you have to.

Your best backline ships will eventually be New Jersey (sheer damage), FdG (sheer damage), Musashi (again check her specific equip list; she does better with faster firing upgraded guns rather than straight rarer guns to take advantage of her critical chance), Amagi (enemy debuff), Warspite (not only is she a high level, she's max limit broken which means you can use her now)
For support carriers: Unicorn retrofit and Perseus (healing; useful over multiple minion fights; and to a degree Illustrious is helpful here too), Ark/Formidable to slow/stop fast bosses, and Enterprise for sheer damage. (Independence and your other high level carriers will function better until then though)

Up front, consider raising Phoenix (blue R rarity) alongside Minneapolis; both are tanky and have decent firepower to work alongside Portland.
Your three Prinz ships, alongside Room and Zara are fairly one dimensional tanks (but are the best at tanking) so feel free to throw them in if your backline is being hit by boats that slip past your vanguard.
For later chapters, you're going to need more AA, which USS vanguard specialize in (San Fran, San Diego retrofit, Helena retrofit, Juneau retrofit).
Eventually you might want to focus on your torpedo craft (Shimakaze, Yukikaze, Suzutsuki, Kazugumo in that priority)

It's not that hard. Just have a lot of oil and grind the highest campaign stage with the best ships. You don't even have finish the stage, just win fights, retreat, repeat (just watch out for happiness)

Oil caps are automatic. The 2x reward needs an item, but if you retreat before beating the boss you save said item. (But if you grind OpSi, you get a butt load of them)
