Uni/Impla/Repulse Portland/Laffey/Phoenix for now do with one fleet dont worry about out of ammo you still can fight, you later get a second fleet and better ships so for now dont farm any stages (aka 2-1 or fox mines, 3-4, just full speedrun the campaing)

But if you are making like a second fleet it can be good (you will need a second fleet, which is for bossing only, around W8) on that time z46 can be good as she does good dps, but still make another thread so we can see your fleet so we can see which ship would be best to boss

You can get exp book on the literature hall (i think it was called like that), every +100lvl ship gives points which the hall transform on exp book (summary, wont enter on too much details)
