Okay it's time to get learned in the ways of the Hoi boats

Destroyers (DDs) sink submarines and act as a meatshield for your fleet, your average surface fleet should have about 30 of them. you're going to build lots of these little buddies so the 1936 is the best option as it's cheaper then later models but is better then the 1922 hull

Light Cruisers (CL) scout for the fleet and provide anti-aircraft cover so cover them in scout planes and AA batteries

Heavy cruisers (CA)
to be brutally honest i have no idea what to use heavy cruisers for. i put them in fleets and i think they do things but i really don't know. you should probably cover them in guns and use them to bully smaller ships like prinz eugen bullies her sister

Battlecruiser (BC)
Battlecruisers are pretty neat and i'm not just saying that because my waifu is Kongou From arpeggio. They are fast enough to keep up with Carriers, you can use them to convoy raid then run away before help shows up. i'd advise agenst using them like normal battleships as their speed comes at the cost of armor so they don't standup well in a 1v1 with battleships

Battleships (BB) are used to bonk anything and everything smaller then them

Carriers (CV) Kill everything so long as they have the proper planes, i find a good mix of all three is good but people tend to lean more onto the side of Torpedo bombers but they can be used as a floating CAS airfield in a pinch

Submarines (SS) sink convoys and sometimes capital ships NEVER use submarines next to a enemy coast he will gain air superiorty in that zone and bomb your ships out of existence. if you have to convoy raid a enemy coast use surface ships

other ships aren't really used except for minesweepers and that do what you'd expect.

This is my Fleet, For every Combat fleet (the one with battleships and the one with carriers) there should be a patrol fleet to find things for them to kill. you might want to tell the patrol fleets to only engage at low risk because if not you'll have a USS Laffey VS Hiei situation multiple times over the course of one war.
