I've discovered that the French DDs are actually not as bad as I thought they were going to be

(We were losing the game at one point with a 3v5 and enemy had a 300 point lead BTW)

It wasnt positioning that got me, I should've just slowed down to tighten my turn and get the front turrets on the Andrea.
