Should I watch Blast of Tempest? I read conflicting reviews. The first review rated it 9. It said Blast of Tempest “follows a logical premise” but after reading the synopsis I did not find it logical and that is why I read reviews in the first place. The review reads, “the series defines a strong logical framework”. The second reviewer wrote, “The plot begins to contradict the rules it established in its first half”. The former describes the female lead as strong but the latter criticized, “one of the most disappointing aspects of the show is the degradation of its characters…Perhaps the character that does it the most is Hakaze Kusaribe. She is initially presented as a strong heroine…She is cunning and unflinching, yet kind and caring when she needs to be…But of course that is all negated when she falls in love…She becomes clumsy, indecisive, and silly at the first hints of love”. The review goes on to describe the male characters as, “show[ing] little emotion when finding out the truth behind Aika’s death, despite the fact that they are the most important people to her. In fact, their lack of emotion is prevalent even in the first half. They are just normal high school boys, not hardened soldiers. Yet their reactions to the destruction of their home certainly don’t give any hints to that”.
