So I just got watching this video, and I just wanna say... most of it is a nothingburger or said what was already known. For starters, he said "anime studios are racking in billions", which is only half-truth, as in billions of yens and not dollars.... which is about 11 million USD on a good day....

Another issue is he tried to potray Osamu Tezuka debt financing as abnormal... that's quite literally how most productions are ran, eve before Tezuka

I dug a little deeper as the video seemed very half-baked and his first citation was a fucking tweet. Please don't cite tweets unless the tweets were made by the person in question.

Anyways, another point he tries to make is somehow receiving finance from investors is net negative. It is very common for studios (like the belove A24) to quite literally just give studios money to do their thing. I don't understand in what world does this man think that an investor doesn't want some degree of control where there money is going to? Anyways, 8 minute in and couldn't even bother to get the crux of the issue: overworking employees.

None of these issues he described at the beginning of the video is related to the underlying problem, save the weekly scheduled releases. Overworking is a company culture and society issue, even if you get rid of everything said above, that doesn't fix the underlining issues. Anime slop pieces are getting out of hand
