I just want to clarify since this topic seems to be brought up from time to time, just be clear - I don't blame sumipe nor do I think her acting is bad in itself
I was kinda disappointed cos all the talk I heard about her being a russophile and studying russian, I expected her to be much more fluent in speaking. That's the issue with my expectations tho and what I think a lot of people are falling into as well.
All things considered her russian isn't that bad, compared to what we usually get from japanese seyuus who need to voice something in it. The only ways to make it any better would've been either to give actors and coach way more time to practice each take, which would've extended costs and production duration. Or just hire a seyuu who already speaks russian natively, like Jenya (the other seyuu I mentioned from GuP, she also plays in Akiba Maid Wars another russian char) but "not casting sumipe in this role" was straight up not an option in this case I assume.
All in all I don't think she's actually bad. Mostly an issue of managing expectations
