I wouldn't quite rate it anime of the season either. It's more of, insanely relatable to a lot of anime fans
Bocchi for her part, has social anxiety. And while there definitely is some level of exaggeration as to her reactions when placed in those anxiety inducing situations, the thoughts, emotions and coping she does is really quite accurate to what some people do irl - it hits home tbh.
To go a step further, it even shows one of the best ways to deal with such anxiety. It's having a small but close group of friends always being there for you, and pulling you up/out as necessary - since it's exposure that helps to build that confidence. That said, it also shows that you need to be willing to take the first step to make those friends to begin with (in her case bringing the guitar)
It's not like Komi or Aharen or other similar anime where the character's inability to communicate is used to drive the plot by itself, with little (realistic) growth (if any) to show for it, since they not having the communication issue would kinda just end the story (usually resulting in a romance sub plot). Her music, the band are what drive the plot together with her social anxiety. So even when she shows growth, the story doesn't just well, end
Well it also helps that Bocchi was blessed with an enthusiastic team of animators who went out of their way to further build upon what's shown in the manga (4-koma can be quite limiting after all), decent visuals (lol you can barely see the 3D models), and an awesome soundtrack. Additionally, the VAs really brought a lot more life to the already interesting characters
In simple terms, BtR is K-On, but with a lot more in the way of resonating with the audience (and also many years later lol)
As said earlier, I wouldn't quite rate it as anime of the season, but like K-On, I suspect this is a series that people will remember for a looooooong time

mostly I watched and read those trashy "fantasy" and "Isekais" instead of "cool titles" like SxF, Chainsaw Man that basically almost gets the hype of every single person in the internet, or Bocchi and Uzaki that basically a slice of life and light themed anime, and don't talk with me about Overlord that basically has many people liked it from beginning, I honestly only watched that particular few parts of the arc where the princess ruined the whole kingdom for her lap dog.
For me personally, I would like to see more Shadow's actions, since he was just like a very badass person, IMO. But for the story itself, I mean, Shadow carried the whole anime of this "Eminence of the Shadow". But TBH, OxT really pulling this of with their songs, their OP is just bangers.
Beast Tamer was my 2nd pick for this season, I mean, it is just a very wholesome anime with some serious back story that I somehow attracted to it, because of how light yet wholesome the contents are, even the MC is just... your typical MC.
the rest is just "eh"...
I dunno why I liked the same trashy Isekais that I once hate 2-3 or 4 years ago, in my golden anime reviewing age, that my name is known in Indonesian Anime Community(for real, I once reviewed a lot of animes) for my reviews for basically almost every new anime in that particular season...
