by the way, in regards to some folks asking here about good resource books for artists

#

You can skip the first three and the manga theory book, the rest are essentials

#

Although, it depends what you want to get into; Sketch with Asia is actually really good, if it's the kind of stuff you're aiming for and want a more personal approach

#

Skilful Huntsman is more of an artbook that delves into project concept work, with lots of concept art and workflow; inspirational, but doesn't show you how it's done.

#

Manga theory is excellent, but it's a theory book (good read, too). It's from the creator of Jojo's Bizarre adventure. Even though it's mainly directed at people who want to get into or expand their knowledge on how to create comics, there's a lot of things worth considering for illustration, too.

#

Framed Ink is 👌 Very precise and to the point. It teaches you principles behind scene framing and illustration work, along with very well presented examples and descriptions. This book will HELP YOU A LOT if you're into anything else than just plain character artwork.

#

Color and Light is a classic. A lot of text and a lot of illustrations teaching the principles behind lightning and colour usage and how to manipulate different palettes to achieve particular results in terms of atmosphere and mood.

#

The two last books are basically oldie crash course books for novice artists; even though they are slightly dated by modern standards, the principles they teach didn't really change that much or in fact - didn't change at all. All round excellent. I particularly recommend Loomis, because it's also a book worth to have on your shelf, it's big, has a ton of beautiful work by the book creator himself and tons of useful knowledge you will keep getting back into, regardless of your skill. Perspective basics will be helpful more for those who are more into environmental art.

And with that, the one I missed above - How To draw for objects and environments; this one's for concept artists who are more into machinery and environmental art. Probably one of the best books I've ever bought in that regard. And unlike the others, it actually shows you step by step how things are done; although this is no book for novice artists, you can still learn a lot from it at any step you are.
