-you dont have to buy a fancy stylus/tablet if you do get one, wacom and cintiq works great for the price, and you dont need a screen on the tablet especially when you start
-free software that works well imo is krita and medibang, the latter being more beginner friendly and the former being more powerful
-biggest thing you need for art is attitude, you wont get anywhere without a good one

I assume it's mostly because we know very little about them; it makes it harder to create believable artwork.

As for tracing controversies - I've seen a ton of hot takes lately; with rising artistry and more and more people showcasing their work online, it's now far easier to find very similar art, people often point out at as "traced". Everyone forgets the market also gets far more congested and we all take inspiration from eachother.

I treat copyright in general as lesser evil, but one thing's for sure - the copyright laws hadn't been touched for the past 70 years and they need a massive revision, fast.

actually I could see a pattern surfacing among what I'd like to call as "movements" where the styles are identical to one another (take AztoDio-Chihun-Zynxy, Belko-Yua-Renetan-Akimoto Takashia, and Hews-Isao-Reeze, for example)

Modern internet communities are a cancer

People take great joy in ruining other's lives over the most trivial things. It gives them as sense of pride and accomplishment when they can rally for their favourite artists and crusade against anyone or anything that poses a threat and it all stems from fake perception of having a moral high ground.

In reality, it's just a bunch of sore losers who'd love to create themselves as their favourite artists do, but can only destroy instead; they are unable to put work into it and lack both humility and respect towards others.

It's a natural process starting off as a consumer and then slowly progressing towards creation. Very few accomplish that marathon, though.

i was thinking of Dragons, but i already have a Dragon King picture and it didnt feel quite right for it, i was also thinking Phoenix, but not vibrant enough, it could have worked on the theme of ashes and loss of color, but i didnt think that would work either.

Use the linework tool for outlines as well as blocking in the shades and everything. Do everything on a separate layer then learn how to flick your wrist for blending

I drew digitally with a mouse for 10+ years

It’s just awful for your wrist and you’re going to get carpal tunnel if you do it for a long time

You can buy a tablet for like 20$ so it’s really not worth giving yourself an irreversible wrist injury but if you absolutely cannot get a tablet then the line tool is your friend

I have tried using my iPad and I have also tried borrowing my sister’s Wacom pad and it just doesn’t feel right probably because I have done a lot of flight sim retexturing with a mouse and have gotten attached to using a mouse with the free programs

this is the type of stuff i was able to do with a mous though

if the anatomy wasn't awful they'd be decent

but yeah you can make a mouse work

it's just not worth permanent wrist damage especially if you're new to digital art in general it won't be worth the wrist damage for mediocre at best artwork, hell. it wouldn't even be worth the damage if you were god tier with drawing with a mouse
