I mean... Here's kinda my 2 cents about doing panels. There is a lot of ways to segment your panels. A boxed layout isn't actually uncommon. I did read a manga similar to this concept (I'll have to look). This format is more ideal for comic strips or comedy because it is sequential and very simple to read. I think artists get to carry away with created "interesting" panels at the expense of readability.

Although one attack she uses at Phase 3 of the Boss Battle suggests she used to know Jo at one point before suddenly going missing.

Basically in Phase 3, she reaches into those closets and pulls out various hand-made dummies that closely resemble certain Magical Girls. Which for one attack she dances spinning and careening around the arena, then proceeds to throw it at you. Depending on the Dummy she pulls out, it will have different effects. She has Dummies for Jo, Kyouko, Amaryllis, and an unnamed Pointy Hatted girl.

Panels are a great show not tell tool!

Notice how reimu's panel is a lot smaller then the one the left?

And instead of a square, it goes down in an angle to make it look more sharp

What im trying to show to the reader is reimu is a stand off at a disadvantage compared to her opponent

The sharper angle the box subtly showing danger and aggression due to the sharper shape

Another way to make panels even more dynamic is to not be afraid of drawing outside the box

I like talking about the themes of Madoka magica, not very often i talk about how good it is as a show

But i garuntee its worth a watch and deserves its reputation

I only like it for the cuteness and action and for the video game-like elements.

I don’t think it’s that harsh though. Yeah it has girls dying but they’re never like Giant Gore Slaughter gallons of blood spilled everywhere deaths like in Elfen Lied or Hellsing or Chainsaw Man or something. Nor does it have sexuality or vulgarity or other such in-your-face inappropriate content. That’s why I think people exaggerate about it.

Also the newer installments are TERRIBLE, and I’d rather not bring them up.

It's literally the only Magical Girl show that is action packed. And stuff I like with other cute + action stuff like Sonic, Strike Witches, Assault Lily, Machine Doll, Genshin Impact, and Zenless Zone Zero, sadly don't count as Magical Girl, so they aren't an alternative.

I like it because it's the only Magical Girl show there is that gives us mega uber hyper epic Zenless Zone Zero/Kingdom Hearts/Xenoblade style battles.

All others give us Stock Footage and repetitive formulaic Power Rangers-like content. Seriously, I've watched other Magical Girls so I know.
