Scrunchies are shaped like a donut basically so just think of it as a donut that has rushing basically

So for shading it just make a gradient going dark at the edges' lighter in the middle, then darkest folding downwards towards the wrist

Then you can just shade it the way you would with ruffles and you're pretty much set

I'd say make it look satiny by adding highlights as well since most scrunchies tend to five off that shiny fabric vibe

For the shadows just focus on making shapes (like loops of triangles) it'll look rough af before it looks good

Solid! 7/10! If you want to push the 3d form of it though

I'd say just shade ub those two red zones ans make the part that's folding upward illuminated instead

And that'll help the hat have more form (you can be pretty dark with those shadows too since the part that's folding upward would be casting a shadow depending on the lightsource)

And if you want to make thr material look thicker (like say it's a straw hat) add a rim that's either darker or lighter and line the entire bottom portion of the lineart. It'll add some extra dimension (works for the perspective of this hat. Can't be applied if it was another angle lol)

I loveeee the bow on it though it's mad cute and yellow was the right call for the hat. I'm hyped to see it done

To answer some of your mentioned points; I have an issue to scale hands. It's because the pants is a Cargo type, so it supposed to look wide when falling from the thighs?? But it does made it look weird ...And yeah...forearm...i should've make the sleeve baggier

Trace it by blocking in the shapes that create the body

(Like you did there)

Over time you'll eventually get a better grasp of what shapes work for what portions od rhe body and you'll also eventually find little ways to keep anatomy in check

Such a simple rig too, like no sim, except in like the sleeves and the hair ig? But it can easily be animated anyways. Pants might be simulated. No blend shapes on the mouth Cauz that bitch don’t have one. The only challenge for the weights is the long droopy part of the kimono but nothing a good copy weights can’t fix

It’s just a bunch of identical spine bone like parts, all I have to do is duplicate, shrink and then keep it going until the tip of the tail. It looks complicated but it’s very easy with extrudes!

Maya is GREAT for mechanical parts, zbrush sucks ass at it. It’s good for biological, round stuff, like the body and clothes

Ive modeled worst things in maya. My jewelry on my khepri character was very complex.
