I built a Nintendo Switch Christmas ornament, with a working 1.14” (2.9 cm) LCD screen! It’s about 1/5th scale, has an SD card for playing videos (actually animated gifs), working WiFi, and the “thumbsticks” are clickable. Incredible 240x135 resolution!
We’re in a golden age of hobby electronics where this kind of project is doable from the com...

does anyone know how I would write this code without using pandas?
i only just found out that you can't use pandas and itertuples since they're main methods and so i need to find a way to replace them
and i only have 24is hours left fuck
why use pandas just to parse csv in the first place?
I guess you can use csv module
convert from csv object to list, I think you need to specify to exclude headers if there's any
anyone play here Azur Lane in iPad Pro/mini etc with M1 chip?
apparently it was reporting a cpu power of 375w
amd sensors work off a offset
This is an interesting topic which must not be ignored imo, but it will be ignored as there's thousands of users that aren't aware of behind the scenes, in regards to Discord
that is an edgy as fuck video that puts light on issues any social media platform has
Laughs in "culture" that gives zero fuck about privacy and data security
Can't be targeted when everyone else is also valid target
It is, but at least it's there to bring awareness, for what it's worth
i don't know but this happened yesterday
the motherboard software reported something more normal of like 120w when i counterchecked
and otherwise i usually see reported values in everything not go higher than 205w
probably a rtss glitch
awareness to what? basic internet safety? issues that have long been dealt with?
At what point user responsibility becomes platform responsibility?
platform responsibility is for bad actors and everything related to that
it's not aggressiveness it's thinking this only pertains to discord or that somehow discord is worse on those fronts than other platforms
for 70% of that video you can replace discord with literally any other social media platform and it wouldn't be any less true
the video looks to me more like a hit piece than a documentary
You and me both.. this OnePlus is pissing me off
About W? what cpu use?
power reporting deviation 500%
my 5800x only consume 90-95W on games monitoring use MSI afterburner

not every kb implementation do that tho
tho I think blackberry (or something) physical keyboard do that even before android
uh RTX 2070Super is in par with 3060 right?
I was gonna trade it with my cousins because the design well design
erm..........
tf trading gpu for the design
aib?
No need for AIB qualifier, stock 2070S should be faster than even 90th percentile overclocked 3060
Unless you managed to saturate 2070S' VRAM for whatever reason...
usually play FPS games I don't need vram more than 6gb actually

Ive been wanting to do a sort of sleeper build somewhat like the old apple computers
Where everything is integrated in the monitor
I want to take like an old CRT monitor of some sort and swap out the internals, potentially build the pc in there
Ive i could find a LCD or LED screen to fit the opening i could put the pc internals all behind it
Im trying to figure out a way i would make it all work though
Unlike a traditional sleeper build i dont really have any case or chassis to work off of
And since the whole front is the screen it would be difficult to get air into it
Did someone mention me i dont see anything but i got a notification
might be hard to find a good quality 4:3 LCD
you could consider 3D printing a bespoke CRT-esque housing
make it look more like a CRT TV
I havent seen a 3d printed casing thats a decent size
There was one for a tablet screen but that really limits me
I could try finding a 16:9 one but those seem rare and id prefer not to destroy one
I wonder how hard it would be or if at all possible to cut the housing
Theres plenty of space there so maybe
It's only speaker on the side, the tube itself doesn't extend much beyond the visible screen area
Be careful working with tubes, make sure you drain the flyback caps unless you fancy zapped with 100000 volts
Its gonna be fun trying to get rid of the tube considering i cant just throw it away
have to say doe
to have connectors on the back of the board is ingenious BUT
you need to work with the case manufacturer to make sure the clearances are there
Dare I say we should revamp this whole form factor altogether.
how dare you
ATX is a clusterfuck to lay out the PCB
ATX12VO is a move in the right direction, not much compared to the whole board mess but appreciated
They keep the idiot-attracting connector tho
ATX12VO is literally moving the 5v and 3v3 rails to the motherboard
the rest literally stays the same
Yes but it does simplify the pinout. We no longer need multiple layers or suboptimal routing just to get the power out.
Moving the regulator into PoL model is also massive improvement in power delivery.
quite on the contrary, it makes routing even more of a pain in the ass since you need to separate the power generating components from the data lines and traces by quite the distance which means either radically different designs or wider motherboards
So yeah
its kinda weird as hell
2070 super and 3060 trade places in term of performance
also 2070 super is like 10-20 frames ahead in 1440P for FPS title
but not all
only in Apex Legends, and R6 siege
got a lot of fps boost than 3060
30-40 frames in highest settings (apex set to 6gb Vram)
maybe because games like a bigger memory bus?
most likely that
Project Volterra is a Windows dev kit with an ARM CPU and NPU. It includes native ARM64 Visual Studio and .NET support to provide the same fast, familiar, and highly productive experience developers are used to.
weird topic, anyone here have any idea how vm works? I can't wrap around how the internet is not connected.
NAT adapter
Which software, VirtualBox or VMware?
box
Hmm, usually it should set the network by itself when you create a VM
you need to set your network to NAT mode
I did it
It's connected
The host is on the internet
👍
But the virtual machine does not work
The virtual machine is connected but the net isn't working
have you tried switching to VMware?
I will always be a Windows person, but I do like to use VMware for VMs myself tbh
VMware has more control, and has less issues than vbox
all my unix installations had internet out of the box
this is what it means to max out the NIC capabilities
the poor think needs a break
how do you even reach those speeds, wtf is downloading
i wish i had a 5Gbps capable router
i sometimes think about upgrading to 2Gbps broadband
i remember back in the day fraps ran way better off a gtx 560 than a 295 simply due to the immense advantage provided y the GDDR5
that's upload

I'm on 10Gbits with 2 dedicated lines which gives me a total theoretical of 20Gbits
not really
the majority of people don't need higher than gigabit
at most they need a wifi 6 access point
want != need

Just Apple being Apple as always
Fuck why do I always end up with the bad ram
rich man
That single bit stuck high, might legit recoverable by reflow
Tho most ram these days are like lifetime warranty anyway
the ram was out of stock and i get my money back. even though ramprices are up

which company?
jeffs
might get the kingston one, which is cheaper too
specs look the same.
maybe cuz it is the same? ehh
i wouldve gone for the corsair ram but thats out of stock too
https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/compare/1794492;1784196/ @quartz atlas here specs look the same :p ignore the pricing since that 318 comes from some trash company thats located in denmark (no offense varia
)
the xpg is your current one?
they should offer you next best sku lmao, not return you your $

only ram that ever worked without a hassle was corsairs (except my little brother had 1 ramstick die once but eh.. happens)
I just want working ram.
I told her too
but she was like yeah its out of stock
nothing we can do about it
You said corsair?
GONNA GET MORE SOON
more ram? or rgb?
3 140mm rgb front intake fans, another 120mm rgb for the back, and then rgb gpu
look

lol
my pc is just uh
black
before i had lots of red
but my new one is uh
idk
chill
even my case is rgb
also, i see a gpu, gib

sorry fesh
i still dont have a gpu

it actually looks pretty great tho ngl
it does
except
it doesnt function that great
also
i had to replace
the thermalpads
yikes
my guy was running vram at 100c
well thankfully
gpus are pretty much @ or below msrp now
true
still waiting on 40xx
will get a titanium class once i upgrade tho
hopefully it doesnt blow up your current pc
i dont even have a gpu
i dont think my pc can draw enough power to trip even the sketchiest psu

well if ive the new ram first thing ill do is memtest86 it
to not let this happen again
nah this lets manufacturers have time to adapt properly
not shoehorn a USB C port onto their devices
Who still uses micro
I had a large ass PTSD over micro b usb because of how unreliable it is
Let me introduce you to the monstrosities that is micro B USB 3
A lot of industrial tools still use mini B or plain old full size B since they're much more robust and do have more positive lock
type b goes bad so fast
especially when you continuously unplug and plug it back in
and it becomes so broken to a point where you'd have to hold the charger at a certain angle or else it wouldn't even charge

i watched WWDC live a couple days ago and
man, what's wrong with me; apple can get me to soyjack over the ipad getting windowed apps, multitasking, and multi-monitor support
that said, the stuff they announced was cool overall
the M2 looks good, but i'd be surprised if it didn't
it's still absolutely cracked the kinds of things apple has been able to do with ARM SoCs
Z flips durability is questionable
I dropped mine last night so it decided to flashbang me this morning
I remember the days when atom elitists were dissing VS code users for using it yet here we are

Could something like this work IRL?
You're increasing surge launch rate while recovery rate stays the same.
The thing is, surge launch rate isn't really a problem even on current carrier, it's already more than 4 times the recovery rate
No
Ok well theoretically yes
But the concept itself is flawed
The reasons why double and triple flight decks didn't work in the 20s and 30s persist today
The fundamental rules of carrier operations don't change with time, only our understanding of them does
Oh hey its that guy will smith was talking about
bruh this gonna end up like the lCS and Zumwalt class
am i the only one who never spoilt a micro-B cable or device
i have a phone with that lying around but that's because type c hadn't been invented then
i got offered a FSP cannon 2000W once
i skipped on rgb fans but instead i have a lot of strips-
The future that still doesn't happen yet

Today's extreme overclockers only managed 9 ghz
netburst was supposed to scale to 10GHz or something
Tbf we can easily do logic at 10 GHz for a long time, just not with x86 arch
Nor a lot of arch either for that matter
but is there even a point to 10ghz
like if if actually results in a 1/10,000,000,000,000th of a second in response time
maybe it makes sense but
They're mostly not for consumer product
High speed data acquisition, signal processing, etc.
@quartz atlas got the new ramsticks yesterday from kingston and didnt have any issues with them yet
temperature is like 15 degrees lower on them too.

all the raspberry pis are out of stock
welcome to chip shortage
what's worse is it's likely not going to be available until like q2 2023
I have a spare pis I bought just in case smth like this happened
can i have a slice of the pi
raspberry pis gone, time to buy used thinkpads
heats up like your grandma Iron
well technically
pretty sure the snapdragon 888 is worse
yesn't

better than Asus x Intel phone
but think of it like this
A15 is like 0.7 M1
if sumaho x86 didn't crash and burn literally
we'd still have x86 extensions for azulen
and it'd run at 240fps on emulators
instead of microstutters

what version of raspberry u need
nothing wrong with the fold 3 for us so far but that crease is legitimately rather annoying
400k is a lot
also i wish it had an induction layer on the main screen
but if it did i suppose it'd have problems with tip wear or utg scratching
like i already get nervous writing on the soft screen a little
In this test different people fold the Samsung Z Flip 3 until it breaks.

live still going
now its 410k
i half wish i had a note or ultra because
i like being able to use my tablet stylus on it
because phone screens fiddly to poke
no we wouldn't
x86 was never officially supported in android
it's not the game that included those bindings
it was the unity engine
and they were in older versions of unity used for cross platform builds
but if x86 phones caught on
they wouldn't have removed them don't you think
on an emu now it runs jit arm to x86
instead of native x86 like it used to

sheesh
Im pissed
I picked up a old emerson crt for my ps2 since it had AV input

So now i just have a 37 pound paperweight

i designed a phone with something similar once
but
on the front and rgb
for use as notification lights
and also as ambient lighting i suppose
wait so the back are lights?
wow seems rly cool, i thought those were just editing making it look brighter
they're supposedly meant to have some variable function? like i think maybe that ring around the camera could be meant as a ring-shaped flash
small diffuse light is almost exactly the wrong kind of light for camera flash
wasn't there some other phone that had a ring-shaped flash around the lens module
that performed pretty well
in fact diffused flashes are best in actual photography even if they're maybe not as useful as a torch
there's a reason studio lighting is diffused or people use ringlights when streaming
thoughhhh i guess given how small the ring in question on the nothing is
how exactly will it not work on us networks
isn't just about everything of this class using snapdragon modems
Had to sort out different sims with my grandma
Man it is annoying constantly changing SIMs on different devices
All with varying degrees of being fast
not true
it's a combination of poor desktop ARM support in the game engines as well as lack of proper APIs for that from apple
Let's be real Apple literally doesn't target gamers for PC
Unlike other companies where they benchmark game to game
Some phones now have eSIMS
this raspberry pi camera can compete and beat the cameras in most phones
for a fraction of the cost
only if it functions correctly
mine gives everything a pink tint with my zero and pi4, but seemingly works fine with my pi3
it does function correctly
and the pink tint is from night vision cameras
since those don't have a IR filter
then why does it not have a pink tint on the pi3?
Are you sure not reading RGB as BGR (or v/v)?
im doing the same thing for all the pi's, but for some reason the 3 is the only one where the camera acts normal
the others are like the sun turned red
tho depends on your camera model and default config, it might be simply a IR-cut bit pre-set
Can you buy parts from a recycling center?
I dont wanna go through the effort and the danger of tryinf to dismantle a crt i just wanna get the shell for something
yeah you can
you probably can get it for free if you ask nicely, lol
it seems they put a lot more into the transcoder cores than anything else
high pixelcount tiny imaging area is unfortunately the trend with consumer camera for a long time
Like it or not, megapixels sells, easy to achieve and easy to advertise
Few consumers even know noise floor, dynamic range, or low light performance
Scientific CCD imaging sensors are probably the last holdout of large pixel, where 10+ μm pixel pitch still widely available
Although with emergence of SCMOS it starts to get smaller as well
I need just a empty crt shell so i can make a cool gaming pc with it
no screen on the crt once you make the gaming pc?
my new camera is 20 megapixels
and
it looks a lot better than whatever my 50mp secondary lens does

maybe print one
i think hybrid zoom is junk
like in practice an actual 60mm optic does so much better than a digizoom at 30mm
You're probably comparing prosumers and consumers camera
hybrid zoom is junk
I can't see the point of digital zoom at all
Like, you can just simply crop it in postprocessing and likely get better result at that
Already looked into printinf
most normal people can't be bothered to do any manual postpro

OnePlus 8 Pro here. First and last OnePlus I'll ever use. A slew of issues, not to mention a damaged charging port that I can't be arsed to replace. Switching back to Samsung soon.
i honestly think oneplus was never worth their hype
now that they're just another brand under BBK
they're even less worth thinking about
they have what
half a dozen models on the market at any one time now
what even separates them from oppo or vivo or realme at this point
they don't even have their original selling point of cyanogen
their original so called flagship killers
i'd never have gone for one because they didn't make anything in a size that wasn't ginormous
I might keep this OP7P until iPhone type C
oneplus is a case of successful brand segregation
pretty much
type c iphone might become pretty successful
Does the EU also mandates USB-PD? Inb4 USB-C but proprietary charging voltage from apple
There are discussions in standardising charging methods
last time I heard
no and apple would have to implement at least the USB standards which means at least some form of charging
not fast but charging nonetheless
Apple already uses PD charging iirc
idk why more don't implement USB PD, that shit is poggers, one brick to rule them all
obv you won't be charging multiple high current devices at once unless you have a giant PSU next to ur desk
Ok my bad
so the chargers must support PD
but OEMs can make their own charging methods
but they must support PD at minimum
yes charger needs PD but the device is whatever
in addition to type C
USB PD need digital signalling, which add BOM and costs
The current PMIC for it also significantly more expensive, especially compared to resistor signalling most of those charging standard offshoots uses
Not sure anymore if I can drive my OP7P to the ground before iPhone type C
OxyOS sucks
imagine buying iphone
and new battery sucks even more (probably OxyOS)
eh I care about the updates mostly
and being able to walk in to get support
I rather not send my phone to netherlands or wherever to fix it and whatnot
I mean if you like to spend half your phone's worth for a back glass replacement or battery replacement sure
and in that case it still gets sent off to NL
battery change is done at one of their centers
not in store
a.k.a ur phone is gone to lala land
and u don't get to preserve ur data since they factory wipe it
The battery change can be done in the apple store where I live
We just dropped the 6S Plus 1-2 years ago did some shopping came back and got it changed
it was like £50
which was alright tbh

I will probably use 2 phones in the end anyway
one for calls etc and the other would be for the stuff I can't install on iOS
but again unless something major comes out
eh
maybe fold 4/5?
or pix-... kek no
never
Google didnt make a decent phone on launch in forever
in the new ones it's basically
camera issue: off to center and wiped
screen issue: off to center and wiped or new phone
battery issue: off to center and wiped or new phone
faceID issue: new phone
port issue: new phone
and don't think it's a new phone for free
you still have to pay a percentage for it
they just give you a discount
fold 4 is out this fall
with new smartwatch
also if u go foldable prepare to be a 2nd class citizen in terms of samsung support
but lately my experience with OxyOS and generally OP made me rethink getting another Android
oxygenOS is not even a shadow of its former self
unfortunately not
hands down
OneUI on my Note8 is legendary
still not super performant anymore
but in comparison to touchwiz
it's night and day
fossil
all the android tablets I have are dead and gone
only tablet I will have if ever is an iPad
Still have to see if I should root my phone and have all my banking app working
OxyOS kinda too garbage and I do not have hope for its A12 ver
imagine not surface pro for tablet
hopefully android tablets will have better ui later
Hoping android UI to work on nonstandard resolution is practically a wishful thinking now...
same here kekw
I tried to sell it but nobody wants it so yeah, sit in the storage just like my other old phones
it took 8 hours to charge full
I had a tablet with a intel atom cpu and thank goodness i stopped using it
that stuff was unusable
I personally have said to myself that I will outright stop experimenting with meh brands (OnePlus, Oppo and such), and just go with Apple or Samsung
huawei or the highway
Nah, I'm good. Would rather take the highway over Huawei
But good one, made me chuckle
the fold is a nonstandard aspect ratio and resolution and it works just fine so idk what you're on about
I'm not sure if the problem is actually solved or become less of an issue due to abundance of screen real estate
Last time I take a look, making things for square screen ends up with standard UI overflowing or covering up stuffs
But tbh that's quite a while back
i just want the honeycomb style all bottom bar back
Lenovo Legion Tablet come with weird feature
kekw
It is just a gaming tablet tho
for budget tablet on samsung is kindaaa meh. I'm comparing the Tab S7 FE 5G to ipad 9 256gb version
but for feature the samsung wins
It's unfortunately because of OnePlus using Oppo code
They've been doing this since the OG OnePlus CEO Carl Pei left the company
I'm currently on a Poco X3 NFC
Still feels bad for recommending X3 NFC to my friend
because I myself grabbed the X3 Pro, which was released like a week after
Tfw Newegg feels more like Aliexpress
the pro was release later here, and on a more expensive price than the promo prices of the NFC, so
i got it
The difference was only like 40 bucks, and that was between 8/256 Pro and 8/128 NFC
Tfw checking back for prices and got this instead, wtf
I'm in the PH, and a couple thousands of pesos difference do affect our purchasing decisions, because of obvious strict budget
besides, my old bro bought it and gifted to me as a christmas gift, 2 years ago
uh this is a scam phone?
basically, tho for the price (~$50) you get what you pay for
just that the specs are far from what it said
I will buy and use the miku case unironically
"blazing fast 1 second per frame refresh rate" - some arch linux user
5G++++++++++++++++++++++
that looks almost like a fractal knockoff
i actually have a custom paint work on ny chassis

Now you can also become a Linux elitist by using archinstall to easily deploy an Arch Linux machine.

if anyone drop some temps in new i9 12 gen
its like 35-40usd in US

Intel's CPU socket for the Alder Lake (12th Gen) CPUs applies higher pressure on one side, causing reduced pressure between the cooler coldplate and CPU. We're replacing the stock Intel ILM (on the socket) with a Thermal Grizzly Contact Frame. Testing includes analysis ...
didn't know intel had a socket problem
I mean I guess they haven't changed the bracket in like 10+ years
https://www.microcenter.com/product/645571/montech-air-1000-premium-tempered-glass-atx-mid-tower-computer-case-white found a nice looking pc case for $85 USD
comes with 4 preinstalled fans too
i had a LGA2011 for so long so i think it's less the size of the socket and the design of the socket/mount
though LGA 1700 is the first one to have such an aspect ratio
feels just like
how
32:9 is super unsupported

buahahha
new intel gpu
lose with amd igpu

After YEARS of getting teased, Intel Arc is finally here. In our hands we have the Intel Arc A370M in HP's Spectre x360 16" and it.. well.. just watch the video.
Discuss on the for...
Who cares about absolute performance as long as they price it right?
Tho that's still remains to be seen
price is not ok
Linus just say ppl who buy new intel gpu are just beta testers for intel
and its true
it's as linus said, ryzen was shit as well at the start
things will hopefully get better
the hardware looks very promising
@quartz atlas if that's the A3 I can only imagine what the A7 hardware will be like
they really need to get their drivers up to scuff.
I mean it can be seen that it was a rushed release to get ahead of nvidia
which is about to drop the 40 series
at least it wasn't a dedicated GPU for desktop
Anyone thinking that Intel missed their sweet launch window probably should realize that it might not in Intel's best interest to do large scale launch in the first place.
I'm still somewhat surprised that they do consumer launch and not something like workstation laptop first.
baecase
dont you love it, when you are trying to get some work done at 1am, and shit like this happens
It just dawned on me that there's practically no way for client to ascertain access point's identity
oh fuck not badge engineering again
what's with people and their rose tinted view on Leica?
not the magnetic cap shit again
It's just standard Sony sensor isn't it?
yeee
its this from normal camera
but now only soft
is problem with xiaomi
Sony IMX989
it's the first phone to allegedly use the new 1 inch sized sony sensor
BUT REMEMBER
so it's got that atl east

All video camera sensors are inaccur...
what is 1 inch sensor
actually uses the entire sensor this time
because fun fact is
the xperia 1 pro
also has a 1 inch sensor
but its cool they put it in
so if i squint
but its huge
it's a summicron lens
only by phone standards
if you want a one inch sensor you could buy one of those bridge superzooms
most use 1 inch sensors
the sony cybershot RXes use 1 inchers
1 inch flat lens so probably either cursed focal length or f ratio
probably what
15mm equiv
if i squint it looks like it says summicron
which implies a f2.0 or something lens
you bet f2.0 on 1" format
"The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is equipped with Leica Summicron 1:1.9-4.1 / 13-120 aspheric lens camera system. It is capable of capturing in ultrawide-angle (13mm f/2.2, 0.5-inch Sony IMX586), wide-angle (23mm f/1.9 8P aspheric lens 1-inch Sony IMX989), and telephoto (120mm f/4.1 periscope 0.5-inch Sony IMX586). On the other end, its front camera is a 32MP RGBW image sensor."
so that claims f1.9 23mm
1.6μm quad-bayer

i mean
looking at the render
its central lens is positively enormous by standards
so i don't think it's impossible but i also doubt it'll be quite as impressive as people might think
i think the real question is how much engineering input is from leica
or if it's a sony zeiss thing
ye, probably I'm just used to the 1" RX100
as it is panasonic's own leica co-branding is still debated
that said i'm searching for a used DG vario-elmar
tbh given that micro-four thirds can have an ultrawide body cap lens
with a purpose built prime configuration that thick
it's probably doable
like i'm pretty sure this xiaomi is also an inch thick
like gsma says it's 9.6mm thick
but i doubt that includes the hump
because if it's 9.6mm thick with the hump the main body is like 6mm
idk, between the almost certainly required aspherics, low dispersion, and probably even folded optical path
It's either quite intricate lens, or heavily relying on computationals for corrections
probably both
but
i'm going to guess
that it will have extreme distortion
like i don't doubt that it can be f1.9
but my short experiences with such phones
they generally have a lot of distortion and have the 'swirly' edges
the theoretical dof of a f1.9 1 inch sensor should be much shorter than most any other phone
but i doubt that anything but the center is going to be all that sharp
would probably end up like this
That's a unique looking phone
just make the phone thicker..
or if you want to be fancy get a ricoh gr

should i get a dark blue wrap for my camera or a silver one

It would make my day if you could also follow me ...
an oversized camera hump with a leica brand label isn't enough to make a phone good to live with let alone a "kills samsung"
main camera is better
than samsung
but other camers are better in samsung
but i wanna see price of it
if samsung s22 ultra cost here like 1300usd
this one can cost like 1500+
xD
TAXES
we love this

what kind of ass backwards logic is that
